Dubai requires no visa for most foreign nationals (unlike SA), Dubai already has a much bigger airport and airline than SA, Dubai has ordered 90 of the worlds biggest aircraft A380 Jet (unlike SA), Dubai already has a huge tourism industry to support a huge airport (unlike SA), Dubai is one of the world's most visited regions (unlike SA)

Dubai is way ahead of Saudi Arabia and less backward that is why Dubai and Emirates will be ALOT more successful than Jeddah and Saudia

This is not a challenge of airport size.....Jeddah is building this to improve her infrastructure. Nothing bad with it. And if you really want to compete...here's news for you.....the KSA built this without the need for borrowing huges sums of money....she can actually afford to build this......which is more than I can say for Dubai.

The only reason they open up their country the way they do is because they need the tourists to keep coming back. But seriously, what is there to see in Dubai?

If i truly want beaches and shopping, I'll go to Aisa or the Bahamas for BETTER BEACHES, and go to Europe for BETTER SHOPPING. Tourists who cant afford to go to these places go to Dubai. Its over-rated.

The King Fahd Intl airport in the Eastern part of Saudi Arabia, is virtually empty. Whats the use of building such a massive airport where there are hardly any passengers using it. Many prefer to go to Bahrain & take the flight from there, enjoy good site seeing, enjoy..hehe..& then off to your hometown.

@shukrystu This is imagination, but even though, they couldn't imagine Saudis working in any of the service sector at restaurants or pushing carts. Asians (Indian looking) are the help even in imagination of the future. With the India trend, I see Saudis maybe working in Indian airport restaurants once oil runs out. That is an image of a future Saudis would rather ignore and continue to live the fantasy.
