@julianbusty Those temps are really nice for a 4.0ghz. I use the V8 and on full load i7-920 3.0ghz, CPU is 51C and cores in mid to high 60Cs.

What GPU do you have? Try adjusting the speed fan on load.

@daxeflame A 9800gt would definitely not cut it to run crysis on max settings. A 9800gt is an outdated card to use as your main card, I'd suggest going for a GTX 260 or 275. A little more money but a lot more performance

i was making that distinction for ninja who was thinking gold was the best heat spreader, which im guessing he was confused with the conduction of heat and electricity. Copper is the best heat conductor as gold is the best electrical conductor. hence why they use gold for cpu contact pins and copper for heatsinks

and yes silver is better thermal conductor as well, but doesnt hold the heat as long as copper, still copper doesnt hold heat very long either which is why usually heat pipers are used in combination so the water can transfer the heat away faster. Ahh science you are a tricky one.

been using the Corsair H50 with my AMD Phenom II x4 965, and it works very well. Been able to OC to 3.8Ghz, and temps are ~50 on load (Prime95 stress test). Temp wise, I can OC further, but the procy gets unstable even if I OC 1 Mhz more

im not that into overclocking, but my tips 1. Get a nice cooler. CM v8 v10. H50 or just some good cooler. 2. increase the voltage a bit. im pretty sure that unstable CPU's either need a lower clock, or higher voltage
