@211VIC Classicflix has a description of of DVD set called, Classic Musical Shorts from the Dream Factory. It has Over The Counter on it. It's from the Warner Archive.
I wonder if Eleanor was the blond singer in the pillbox hat or the brunette in the green dress and garden hat in the second part of the number? Both are pretty remarkable.
What a great number....oh come on folks....maybe the pre code movies were just being a wee bit more honest about human relationships than the drivel that came after the code. It was all meant in fun anyway and for entertainment.
If anyone has the clip of the number from this short that has two guys in letter sweaters tap dancing (and basically break dancing), please upload it!
Lots of healthy relationships there! That's the image Hollywood wanted us to have of marriage? Talk about family values! I guess this was before the Code. (or maybe this was before the era when Hollywood told us how to think) / Hey, the wives left before they got their numbers. / All the husbands were old, fat and dumb, except the last one.
yes, lets send our husbands to a classy strip club while we shop. lotsa good morals goin on here. way to go 1930's! and for more great morals check out eddie cantors keep young and beautiful!
I remember seeing this on Turner Classics... I love it! Please, if you could, put the rest of it up...there is a great scene where two kids (a boy & a girl) do this fantastic tap dancing number. I would love to see it again. Thank you for the info on it. It's nice to know I'm not the only one nostolgic for this time...the Golden Age :)
TURQUOISE & SALMON.... Yup, Two-Strip Technicolor!

This number is hilarious. I had never seen it before your post, and now I'm addicted. Eleanor Thatcher should be famous! Thanks so much.

No Ann Miller she was much to young to be in this. Another 8 or nine years needed.

I think I see an old friend Ann Miller in the chorus. Could it be?
