i know that the last internationally monitored and ratified free and fair election in chechnya was under the reign of aslan maskhadov, where maskhadov was elected, with the aim of continuing the independence gained through the hard and bitter fought war for independence 1994-96. this was as i say internationally monitored and reckognised as a democratic election. i would guess i know more than you think i do, the way i obtain my knowledge is through research and reading, try it sometime!

Iraq violated the Gulf War cease-fire by firing on US planes enforcing the cease-fire, by buying yellow cake uranium which WAS FOUND in Iraq, Iraq violated UN sanctions by trading with European countries under the table, etc. etc. This was the legal basis of the US invasion. It's all obvious now. Russia proclaimed 2 independent states, without Europe's and Bush's approval. They whined for a few day about it being unacceptable. Then Russia made them shut the fck up by reminding them about their crimes in Kosovo and Middle-East. Saakshvili got spanked, Bush got tea bagged and the Ossetian people are happy. If the peoples of Abkhazia and South Ossetia desire change, they have the right to separate themselves from those who wish them harm (or in the case of CIA contract employee Mikheil Saakashvili, wish them dead). The American Founders referred to such rights as inalienable (or in non-American terms, fundamental human rights). The peoples of West Virginia refused to remain a part of Virginia (just as Nevada separated from Utah). Tibet has the same rights for independence, as do the Chechens.

What is surprising is that countries like Israel and USA use the aggressive response first rather than diplomacy and invade sovereign states like Iraq.
