@xIegionx : Some were sourced from free sources on the net, some from paid for sound clips and a couple may have been grabbed from a series of dinosaur movies I'm sure we all know well. Then all the sounds were tweaked and mixed to make new sounds using PC software.
I have no idea if it is still working or not as I no longer a partner in teh company that animated and installed it. We received it as a giant static polyeurothane skinned, foam casting. I built the frame that moves it and my business partner (at the time) stuck it together, re-modelled it, and painted it in the colours you see there.
@SyntheticJewel: It may well have been. It came to use as a foam casting in many peices. We had to make a fram and then join the peices together before assembling and skinning it.
As far as I know Combe Martin still has it on display, but I'm no longer a partner in the company that assembled and installed it there anymore!
Not bad. Not bad at all. It moves just like a bird would which is what dinosaurs are more closely related to. Did this one spit water? We had the same exact Dilophosaurus years back here at the San Diego Wild Animal Park when they'd do their Dinosaur Mountain attraction. Obviously there were no indications that Dilophosaurus really could spit venom or toxins.
At the time of installation this did spit water. I have no idea if it still does as I havent worked for the company that built and maintained it for over two years.
If Dilo couldn't spit venom, chances are it could have toxic bacteria like the modern day Komodo Dragon. I remember hearin Dilophosaurus had a weak bite, so to be an effeciant hunter it had to have taken prey down somehow.
it couldnt roar like that scientists can find the bone of the voice wind and blow inside it to find out what the noise it made how bout that you fagets !!!!!
thas what they should do insted of brining them back...it could spell dissaster for everyone if they come back from the dead. robotic dinosaurs are the shiznits
Were you involved in their construction? I am impressed. Do you have any more videos of those little Megolosaurs and the Tyrannosaurus? They were all so realistic in their movements.
I was involved with the company that made the megs and dilo. I designed and fabricated the steel frames that moved the bodies and fitted the pneumatic systems to it. I will try to put some up of the megs, but as I said above we didn't produce the T-Rex. :o)
I would so shit my pants if that thing was stalking me.
Where's turok when you need him?!!!!!

Very cool. The animations are great, and everything moves very smoothly.

Blimey, who'd have thought!
dibley1973 3 years ago
Yeah way!
0:10 it sounds like a lower groan of the Dilophosaur's chirp, like the one in the JP film.
I wonder if they got the idea from that? Though this one is probably older, since the one int he film was a Juvenile.

@NUTCASE71733 They now know that the whole bacteria thing is a myth, komodo dragons are actualy quite venomous.

otto142 4 years ago
I'm Glad you enjoyed them. The did look good when first made. Incidenatlly, we didn't produce the T-Rex, just the dilophosaurus and two Megalosauri.
