Question how come your using regular drywall in a kitchen, and not green or blue board which is mold and mildew resistant. Or are you using paperless drywall.
This question may be a year too late, but do you tape and float the wall with the regular mortar or do you need something specific for tiling? I'm worried about the tape/mortar getting moist and soft once I apply the thinset for the tile. Any help is appreciated :) Your end result looks great!
i did a backsplash with these little 1 by half inch glass paper mounted and i used this stuff that mapi made n the little shits fell all over the place drove me freeking nuts. paper mounted tiles suck!! looks real good though nice job

@jsal1972 not exactly sure what you mean, but if you taped the joints with joint compound it will be fine.

You always need to use a very highly modified thinset with glass tile. It's a process to install, very tedious.
