Peter Davison was always my Doctor and will always be in my eyes the best 80's Doctor; but I love Colin and his Doctor as well. He's genuinely a nice person-- a bit intimidating at first for a shy girl, but he is very nice overall and he loved being the Doctor. It's a shame how Colin was treated just because of poor writing. It was a interesting way to tackle the role of the 6th Doctor--the Doctor is in fact an alien and I think Colin portrayed the alien quantities perfectly.
...Colin Baker is one of if not the best Dr....he was the perfect Dr after Davison and Tom Baker...his snark is fine....the writing was very up and down...some of the best stories of the entire Dr Who genre were written during this time, Vengeance on Varos, Mindwarp, Revelation of the Daleks, he was followed by the worst Dr and the worst writing....
I think Colin Baker's Doctor is much better than Peter Davison. He really brought another dimension to Doctor Who. I don't even think the writing was all that terrible. But, I'm used to the crap on American TV.
Such a great Doctor. Shame he went the way he did. He could have potentially been one of the greatest Doctors ever. It's great to know he does various conventions and keeps up to date with modern Doctor Who. He also does great Doctor Who audio dramas. Definitely the best in that area.
I have to admit I never watched Dr Who when Colin Baker was the lead. I stopped watching after several episodes of Peter Davidson. I just lost interest - but regained it when it all began again with Chris Eccleston (who I saw on stage last year.) But I do know Colin is a lovely lovely guy as he was my guest at a Quantum Leap convention I organised in the UK back in 1999. Aw bless him!
I need to check out the Big Finish series someday... I've heard many times that Colin has really gotten to flesh out his Doctor, far beyond what the TV show allowed.
It was personal dislike. From what I gather, Michael Grade, the cunt that initially cancelled the show back in 1985, was at the time dating Baker's ex-wife Liza Goddard. That, and the fact he thought Baker's performance was and I quote: " utterly unlikeable, absolutely god-awful in fact".

It's sad that he did not have a regeneration story. He deserved it.

I wish I had known he was in NY. I would have tried to to make a trip up the coast for a holiday.

CB rocked - and he's obviously a nice bloke. The writers failed him with poor stories.

I just find it amazing that an actor could get sacked because of poor writing.

Seriously, what sanctimonious, cowardly biatch.

@ianhalen1000 He also said that he hated the show because he saw Star Wars and the production values were much better. Which is ridiculously shallow.
