SO, to answer your question, yes everyone is still data. SO3 is waaaay after this game, remember this game is before SO1 even.  So until the end of SO, everyone is just a plaything for the 4D douchebags.

Seems like the first time 'they' (SO3 players know who) arranged something. I wonder if this related to the mark on Edge's hand before the first battle. But this does remind me of the three in SO3. (I think it was communication, alteration, and destruction)

I don't think this has anything to do with 4D at all. So far it appears everything thats happened is all in-game. Those 3 symbpls were obtained FROM 4D, and they were inter-dimensional. The symbols in this game are all intr-deimensional (I think...).
