  • I agree this video was useless, I expected to see a demonstration which would have been more helpful.

  • she didnt show anything! I could point to stuff and say mix it up...mix the damn stuff and show us! Some expert

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING!!!!

  • god just shut up and watch the video on how to make tamales

  • Your spices are not fresh.

Your garlic is powdered garlic and your chiles are powdered chiles.

Your tamales will never taste authentic unless you use fresh garlic and fresh chiles.

  • @drunkesthobo u racist fuck pinche pedejo puto bet you dnt know what that means huh faggot

  • IS JUANA DRUNK?

  • I don't mean to be mean, but having watched many of these "expert" village videos, I gotta say they really suck. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • What people use in Mexico for the "masa" part instead of oil is usually this hard pork fat or vegetal fat. It's solid and white when cold.

As for the racist comments, next thing is people will have to hide cuz feels like being a Mexican lately is like being a homosexual jew in pre-war Nazi Germany.

  • @drunkesthobo

you are an incestuous loser who when not having sex with his kids and pets, goes on youtube to make racist comments.

  • I agree the mom should have done the talking and daughter translate. Seem disrespectful that she was in the background when it's probably her recipe. Also, why not actually show us how to make the masa? Plus...chile powder? Why not use the chile sauce that you already made to go with the meat?

  • Ay mija que naca te vez, hasta a tu abuelita le caiste gorda , se ve que le urge que se acabe el video, primero aprende bien tu lengua para creerte que sabes hacer tamales

  • Thanks! Worked well for me.

  • just a tip....for added flavor instead of water use the chicken broth where the chicken was cooked, theycome out delicious..

  • THANKS FOR UR TAMALE SECRETS,, MMMMM,

  • real masa for tamales does not come from a bag and seasonings are always fresh and not a powder. Sorry expert village, you fucked up using this gordita for an informational cooking video.

  • @fift9vw I think it's good for us who are Mexicans and we are living in the US, we cannot always find the same ingredients...of course we would love to use the good stuff, but it's almost impossible to find sometimes.

  • or you could buy it at Northgate market, ask for mas para tamales....

  • i used your steps and made some pretty good tamales of course practice makes perfect so i will get there i'm sure by christmas i will have it down! Thanks for taking the time to share such an awesome recipie. and they do freeze really well!!

  • mmmm nooo that is not how u do it

  • insted of water its better to use the caldo

  • AHWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW How cute

  • I meant hell:( Damn 'bout to me get sa mo OE...

  • I meant pawn... OE 800 is a hall of an alcohol!

  • Damn! Y'all making a nuggah hongry... "Bout to my computer!

  • I was looking for concise instructions for how to make masa & your video was exactly that. Thank you for sharing! I wanted to know how to make masa because I'm going to try an experiment dish, green chile chicken cheese ehcniladas, flat/stacked, still with corn tortillas, but with a thin layer of masa on top of each layer of tortillas, maybe 3/8". Kindof an enchilada / tamale hybrid, lol. Thanks again. :)

  • Oh, and be sure to add cilantro to the meat. I like adding some cilantro diced to the meat when done so when u cook them they retain that rich herby flavor that is cilantro. and feel free to throw some red onions in there as well. I made a few with chicken and cabbage. but more meat in case u make them to freeze & reheat.,

  • yeah like teh chicanos say here, I buy manteca- natural lard, from the mexican stores which get it from the pig farm. makes them much much richer and better masa. I also like adding mole or pureed jalapeno and pureed ancho chiles to my masa for a slight kick. AND use chicken stock or pork. I use some of the cooled down pork juice as I usually make them out of pork. just roast a whole damn pernil leg. Adobo can also be bought but like anything doesn;t taste too authentic.

  • Wait 30 ounces of oil????

WTF that's like two water bottles of oil

  • your moms a t

    amale

  • eating a tamale now (:

  • awesome!

  • wonderful job! thanks

  • Is oil better than lard for the masa? Also, why not use chicken broth for the masa rather than plain water?

  • Most people seem to swear by lard for their tamales, but it is saturated fat and not very healthy. Corn oil would be a good choice if you are concerned about the fat.

I would definitely use the cooking broth instead of water because the flavor is much better! I know a gal who used a little of the chili sauce mixed in with her masa. Her tamales were awesome and never came out dry!

  • @fatdanios actually, pure rendered lard is lower in saturated fat than butter and almost double in monounsaturated fat (thats the good fat) compared to olive oil.

  • @robertjameslarsen You know, I have read up on that since I posted this comment and you are correct! I saw a rather good article in Chow Hound and they said pretty much the same thing. Next time I make them I'm using lard!

  • Thank you.

  • Does anyone know where I can get the pot on 0:41? I live in the Los Angeles and Orange County area. My neighbor has this pot but can't recall where she got it. It's a real heavy pot and I believe it's cast iron with a non-stick finish.

  • Try Northgate market.

  • you racist fucks, does your nana hold your wewe still? the ingredients are there if your a cook it was obvious so shut the fuck up and go to the freezer section at wally land and buy frozen gringo tamales as your to stupid to make them......

    coma caca

  • HOT TAMALE HOT HOT TAMALE HOT HOT

  • Only in Kenya!

  • good job ! i love tamales

  • Sorry, hit the thumbs down by accident and can't figure out how to undo it. Your absolutely correct GOOD JOB and good food!

  • uno momento seroreeta. WTF??

  • LOSER

  • She should have just made the video in spanish and let her momma talk instead.

  • tell your mom to make horchata..

  • If you substitude the oil with lard (manteca) they come out more moistured and soft.

  • jajaj no sabes haselos sacate

  • no sabes la que hases yesenia XD hahahahaha

  • you guys are mean! you should be thankful that she is sharing what she knows!

  • I understood her perfectly, and appreciate her making this video because I would like to make these!

  • VERY POOR EXPLAINATIONS

  • Too much oil being used for only 4 lbs of masa mix. 20 oz is the maximum. Add baking powder to mix. Also you shouldnt add garlic to mix, it should only be added to filling mixture to keep both flavors separate. You will yield approximately 48 tamales with this recipe.

  • very bad explanation of how to make tamales. The video wasnt even finished.. very poor.

  • Yeah, it is kinda gross that she scratched her head. Otherwise, you guys are mean.... TEXMEX tamales no se comparan a los de Mexico? Uhhh.... Texas used to be part of Mexico (and should still be) and besides how many different types of tamales are there in Mexico...like 42! Get your facts straight Gerardo!!! ATT. Rosamaría

  • and mexico was invaded by the spanish that killed everyone and stold all the gold so whats your point?

  • the woman looks funny

  • Tamales TEX MEX , No se comparan con los tamales de México reales.

  • hopefully saying that will make you feel lucky that you have never experienced hunger. GOD bless you, and hope you never do.

  • i am hungry right now

  • Cool vid. Thanks! I love tamales.

  • my mom makes the freakin best tamales

  • lol YUM!

  • claro que esos no son tamales jajajaj

  • YUCK...at 44sec she scratches her head, then at 1:24 she touches the masa!...and later serves the cooked tamales to people???

  • I was thinking the SAME thing!!! It's scary 2 think about what some cooks do who prepare our food!

  • Chilli powder??, come on, you should make the salsa instead, those are TexMex tamales!!
