@oye2a2000 Can differ quite a lot. Make sure the strings are clean/pretty new and adjust the EQ. I use mostly the bridge pickup and play pretty close to the bridge as well. :)
ppl asking for tabs. make your own damn solo. you just want the tabs so you can show off in front your friends and say look what i just come up with. btw very nice solo. enjoyed it.
Hehe. I´m totally fine with it. Playing other peoples stuff gives you inspiration to create own songs. If my little "tunes" are good enough to be considered "show off"-tunes then I´m just flattered :) Thanks!
Can´t find the tabs but I´ll try to get new ones made! Otherwise try learning it by ear. Start off with the bass notes (not harmonics), the rest shouldn´t be that hard. Slow it down in cubase or some other program if needed! Would love to hear your version of it
Thanks! The song is actually longer but I just thought I´d put the first little part out here. Not completely satisfied with the rest so I´ll finish it later :)
Are there certain frets that can do harmonics, or every fret of every string has a harmonic?????
I'm trying to do Victor Wooten's amazing grace but some harmonics don't make a sound on my bass. Probably because I got a cheap peavey bass and tube amp setup. Can anyone please HELP!
There are an infinite amount of harmonics on a bass. However only a few are easy to hit. The rest are too precise to be able to hit them. Main ones are 4, 5, 7, 9, 12, 17. When you hit the harmonics it's best to pluck close to the bridge and preferably use the bridge pickup.
Soundwise, try using only the pickup down by the bridge for clearer sound. Then put your finger right on top of the fret without pushing down. Just let it rest on top of the string. Then play the note pretty far down towards the bridge, and just when the tone is ringing remove your finger from the fret and let it ring out. Try different frets and maybe playing 2 harmonics at the same time.
theyre not really, its just they only sound out really well on 3 parts of the neck, 5th 7th and 12th fret (for a guitar not sure about bass) just rest your finger lightly on the fret like after that fret and pick the note and it should ring out as a harmonic.
9th is also pretty good, its not as clear as the 5th, 7th, and 12th, but when you start messing with harmonics and want more range you can get some pretty good sounds out of the 9th fret
you can make natural harmonics by doing that to almost every fret on the bass, except for first... It gets a little harder to hear on the E and A string. The are other ways to make harmonics aswell, one of the ways is to hold down one fret and tap the note one octave up on the string. You can hold drown third fret on the G string and make a quick tap on the 15th fret. This can be used to be able to play different notes. Can be done almost anywhere.
Yes, but there's no squealie sound from it. but you can use it to get unnatural harmonics like the tapping. It's also much clearer than the tapping :)
You dont nessacarily need a pick for it, you can use your index finger doing a "little scratch"-movement while the thumb barely touches the string. This type of harmonics will (for those who didnt know) make different sounds in one fret depending on where your thumb is.
wat bass is that? O_O

Beautiful piece and gorgeously vplayed, great stuff!
Is that a bolt on neck yeah?
Gilleece666 3 years ago
Nope. A neck through. Got it rediculously cheap from USA. :) Suits soloplaying perfectly!
PappaBrax 3 years ago
Ah right, it was just the way you sort of whammied the neck I assumed it was a bolt-on as its a technique not praticed much on neck through as much.
Gilleece666 3 years ago
Yeah I know, the neck is pretty tough so it doesn´t give as much effect as on a bolt on :)
PappaBrax 3 years ago
That just makes the piece all the more impressive, good stuff, keep it up!
