This is Johnny Marrs not some hack guitarist. Some musical authorities consider him to be one of the greatest guitarists of our times. Love the Cribs 3 or 4 but they're music seemed to go to another level with Marrs. Just my opinion but Marrs is epic.

I really dunno how ANYONE can moan with the direction The Cribs have gone (or are going).

This album has some of their best tuns to date on.

The Jonny Marr effect can only help them evolve into music gods.

To be honest i loved there first two albums, but i dont think you can do 4 or 5 albums in that style of music, people get bored. In the end every band evolves and The Cribs are evolving with the help of Johnny Marr. Lets be honest they could have chosen some one worse. The album is still good and does have some typical cribs songs (We were aborted) but i agree some songs sound to much like The Smiths which isnt a bad thing, but i want The Cribs to sound like the Cribs.

They're original sound was so juvenile, Marr brings some depth to it. The Jarmans knew that they couldn't continue down the path of their original sound, it would have quickly become irrelevant. In the end, all I do is listen for Marr's sound in each song...it's the only good thing about The Cribs.
