  • My first favorite radio song..one I'd sing to myself while not actally listening to it..

  • My kindergarten teacher sung this song to me once and now I have to wonder if she actually swore against me! Even though she was my favorite teacher at the time. Because I can hear and feel my life in this song being almost exactly like these lyrics AND my nickname's always been Angie! I've never murdered though....(evil crazy cackle) :)

  • one of her best. and very macabre.

  • The best song that Ms. Reddy ever recorded. I can identify with this tune with girls I wanted to get with in the past. The sound quality to this video needs improvement, by the way.

  • a truly wonderful song

  • gwendoline ?

  • ..Its so nice to be insane..no one asks you to explain...

    Oh yeah !

  • A real classic from my high school days. It was incredible after all these years to see Helen sing it in person and watch her interpret the tune her way! What a treat! I really loved the ballads of the 70's -songs that told stories.

  • I love songs that are stories also instead of just regular lyrics...Thats one reason I love Bruce Springsteen, his songs are stories....

  • This song summed up my life in 1975. I was Angie.

  • Got to be one of the best performances ever.

  • I heard Helen speak about this song once in the early 1980s.

It is about psychosis and it's quite a disturbing song brilliantly performed.

Alot like the single by 'The Cars' called "Drive".

  • She keeps him in a jar under her bed. She doesn't need to explain it. She's insane. :o)

  • sad lyrics but too true. This is every one of us at one time or another.

  • This may have been taped in 1975 but this song was populer on the radio in 1972

  • Billboard's 387th #1 hit of the rock era. How'd Helen do with it in the UK? Where''d she peak with it? God bless!

  • I remember this when my dad played it, I have thought about this song for 30 years, now I can find it on you tube. Did not even know the singer till now

  • Check out the "Uncle Devil Show" version. and if you have the time... "She cuts her own fringe". I'm sure Helen did this a few time before those early roach motel gigs.

  • Okay. So, within the song (of course) we establish that Angie is real. Her father asks her to turn off the radio. Her "friend" who comes to visit is real. He is reported missing the next day. But, he has vanished into thin air, without a trace. How?

Who cares? It's just a song. Lyricists can make up pretty much anything they please.

  • i like this because i was like that as a teenager.i didn't go out much stayed in my room listening to the radio.

  • I was 14 when it came out and it has moved me ever since

  • Great Alan O'Day song! Alan O'Day also wrote "Undercover Angel" and "The Drum" , which was a forgotten hit but Bobby Sherman. Not to mention many other hits.

  • I was maybe 10 when this song came out.....creeped me out!

  • @Bensmom90 me too lmaoooooooooooo ^5

  • this song is really creepy when you get right down to it.

  • @ffejbboc you are so right

  • Proper music, " Good Ole Times which will never be re-lived,

  • @riggs0624 Thats profound - but depressingly true - such an era can never again occur.

  • What a great performance! Top class!

  • To my girl....Angie Coker Papalia. A VERY special lady!!! <3 u!
