  • @BNSFabricating it was offered to Lincoln after 8 or 9 assassination attempts but Lincoln refused so he wouldn't look weak

  • At 34 seconds the man with the black handlebar mustache turns toward the camera - I think that is who "Murdering McKinley" referred to...

  • According to the book "Murdering McKinley", this video was recorded a few mins after the shooting, the book also says that a guy turns around and smiles at the camera.. although i didn't really see a smile anywhere.

  • This happened in Buffalo, NY. He was killed by a man working alone. The guy was an anarchist, how cool is that? This assassination also prompted the creation of the Secret Service and no more did you find presidents walking around unguarded. A little FYI 4 u guys and gals

  • @aaronrocs

The Secret Service was actually created during the Lincoln administration if I remember right, but it was intended to have something to do with elections, not protecting the president. But you're right, after McKinley's assassination, their number one job was protecting the president and his family.

  • @BSNFabricating I don't know about The Secret Service before McKinley but if it was around during the Lincoln administration maybe their job was similar to what it is today which is investigating Counterfeit money. I DO know that counterfeiting money was a huge issue during Lincoln's time.

  • @aaronrocs

You're probably right...it's been a while since I read about it, but the Secret Service COULD have been created to investigate counterfeit money. I DO know the president was free to come and go as he pleased and that ended after McKinley's assassination.

  • Saw no camera reactions. Was McKinly already wounded? I never heard of any cams on the scene when it happened.

  • It's crazy to think about people looking at the stuff we put on Youtube today 100 years from now, just like we're looking at stuff like this today.

I hope they forgive us for Jersey Shore and Dancing With the Stars LOL

  • Thank you for posting this very important and rare historical footage! I had no idea it existed. Was this the mob gathered outside after the shooting, or a crowd outside the receiving line waiting to meet the President?

  • Look at those tiny hats.

  • I wonder what happened to the small child who appears from frames 33-7 wearing a round hat. Obviously, he too is long, long dead. This video gives me chills.

  • Wow. All of those souls are still somewhere....

  • A man turns around in the video and smiles. Weird

  • Amazing video! Its so great to see actual history whike its being made! For the most part we are looking into the faces of men and women who were born in the 19th century! Gives me chills!

  • @Waldenpunk I agree with you. It also gives me chills that all the people in this video are long, long dead, even the young children shown here. Makes me realize how fleeting life is. It's also amazing how well dressed everybody appears. Going to the exposition in their best clothes! Can you imagine folks dressing like that today while attending a county fair?

  • @TheTweeter53 The Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, NY was a World's Fair. It celebrated the emergence of America as a world power, and it's friendship with the countries of the Western Hemisphere. At the time, Buffalo was the 8th largest city in the U.S. and had grown wealthy due to the Erie Canal. People came from all over the world to see the electric lights powered by Niagara Falls.

  • I suppose Lee Harvey Oswald did this one, too....

  • Hey, guess what? I'm the first to comment on this worthless video. I should get an award.
