  • u lag

  • crossover is good its not free but has a preconfigured wine engine its quite good for games

  • TutoRial ? I Cannot Run the Game With Wine!

  • You have horrible aim.

  • @SoulLemonful No, Wine had horrible mouse input at the time. The jerkyness is due to the game freezing everytime I move the mouse for a split second.

  • Fake i can tell you have a window in your room. Yeah anywau nice job. I hope they start making games for linux so that we don't have to go trhou this mess.

  • @NDSCollector Indeed, I'm not in the basement. However, I AM in my house's attic--can I still be considered a linux geek?

  • @puttabutta Of course. I think linux is a lot better than that piece of crap people call Windows. My pc is not able to run amything that smoothly due to old hardware but if i upgrade then i'm going to try to run games on wine. Fow now i use wine inly to use some gadgets that require a windows software.

  • @puttabutta yes, because i too am linux geeking in my houses attic, it's completely legit.

  • @IntelgratedShiznit That's an excellent idea-- why not have Halo be a bootable CD, the computer boots right into it and bypasses any OS that would run in the background? Great idea!!

  • isn't that the halo 3 odst mod for trial? XD

  • if anyone needs mods i can give them link ask for mod link on my vid halo trial mod pwnage

  • this is approved for MICROSOFT?

  • I am a good friend of everything that pisses off Microsoft :D

  • HAA HAAA! TAKE THAT MICROSOFT!

  • @Kingslay3r ... Hell yeah....

  • What level r u on easy noooooob Iv completed the whole thing on legendary

  • Best OS + Best FPS = Amazing dream!

  • What video card and CPU you have on your computer?

  • Computer world: Take Linux off there, and blow their asses up.

  • sweet irony

  • when you move your mouse, the game gets slow!! Why is that?

  • The beggining clearly shows why it is better to just use KDE desktop and KWIN. Compiz has issues. You can just switch to metacity for games using tray application called fusion-icon (get it from repos).

  • @Tobiash87 In KDE it's just ALT+SHIFT+F12

  • you can go muiltiplayer and play with other people u can be grunts, elites, hunters, flood, monitor, oracle and my bro tried it and he said you can be anybody

  • halo is now free just go to download(dot)c om

  • how did u do that

i try to download it but i cant i need help

    can u plz help me

  • hey i'm trying to get halo trial for my ubuntu but am having no luck..... could you help me out???

  • u need that app called Wine...

it is a win-emulator. With this app you can open all win apps...

  • @dirtpezz WINE stands for WINE is not an emulator. its a compatibillity layer

  • oh wine stands for wine, really? are you sure?

A emulator is also a compatibility layer, like an Nes Emulator...

  • @dirtpezz

    Not true, and not true.

Wine = Wine Is Not an Emulator.

And not all windows apps work with it. At least not without advanced knowledge of how the program works and how to make changes to linux to enable it to work correctly. Thats why people still prefer windows... because you dont have to know how to program to play games. You could pay to play though with cediga or w/e. Even still, not all games/programs work.

  • How did you do that man Ive been trying to can you help me? I have Ubuntu

  • All operating systems SUCK. As long as we use them, we'll be limited in what we can do with our hardware. Why aren't there software-independent games? Why not? I, for one, would very much like to play Halo on a microwave.

  • Id like to use one on a pencil.

  • =)) That comment made may day.

  • @h8s2 You just blew my fucking mind. If only there was a way we didn't need a computer to play games, y'know? Fuck compilers and software and operating systems. What if we could play games with like...wood. Yea, wood! We can carve it into shapes. And do stuff with those shapes.

And then the world explodes because we managed to do something without a keyboard. Yea.

  • @vsfmtvenc Back to basics, amirite?

  • @h8s2 that maybe one of the stupidest things i have ever heard.

  • @h8s2 Doom 1+2, Plutonia, and TNT were all software based games! I agree with you 100%!!!

  • @PIKACHU49386 I love you.

  • Take that, Microsoft!

  • ticles

  • would be cool if i could use Wine on my wii linux.

  • Linux can't play games? AAaaahahahahahaha

  • Comment removed

  • Or just use a virtual computer running windows, I find it quicker than rebooting every time.

  • Linux RULES

  • Yes! yes! this is delicious!

    (dont ask, lol)

  • Does anyone know if WINE works with Freelancer (2003) ?

  • if not, use cedegar

  • red hat is better than unbunto

  • No linux distro is better than the other... Don't act like a fanboy.

  • red hat does have its advantages.

  • I totally agree. Be a fanboy of Linux, not a certain Linux distro. This way we have a better chance of winning the war against Mac and Microsoft =D

  • Doesn't matter - there is no war. There is just logic & intelligence. The logical thing to do is use an OS that is simple & that fits your needs. The intelligent thing to do is : USE LINUX! LOL!

  • is wine free

  • yes

  • Wow 2 things, 1, ur cam is very powerful without much blurs!

2, UR UBUNTU LOOKS COOLER THAN MINE!

  • I just installed it, it shows the HALO logo for a couple of seconds, then the screen gets black and you could only hear the music.

  • i got ubuntu. i use wine to play halo.

  • there's no low framerate. I'm playing halo under wine here as well. It worked really nice. The problem is on a mouse issue.. A dinput issue.

I found on the net some ways to get less trouble with it...

If you play with a joystick, it runs perfectly.

  • Yes, when I played I noticed the slowdown happened only when trying to move the mouse.

  • I've foud a fix!

  • @yokobr I cannot play because the mouse is so jacked up. (sorry for response to old comment, but seeking assistance :P)

  • oye men como lo hiciste explicame por favor........

  • Your PC must be great, NNNIIICCCEEEE framerate :P

  • i always used to go as far as i could in the humvee or whatever, you could squeeze through small spaces if you tried hard enough... that was pretty much the highlight of the game, driving that fucking jeep thing

  • Than you have never played the full game

  • God... Noob is such an over used word

  • As if everyone has the best graphics in the world. Also, the whole point is to show you that it can play it, worry about frame rate less, yo.

  • Comment removed

  • You have no idea how hard it was to play with such a bad framerate :P

    Halo's a noob game anyway. tf2 FTW

  • I am interested in your ideas and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

  • If i install linux to my ps3 can i use WINE?

  • Is WINE leagal?

  • Yes, wine is completely legal, since it does not copy ANY of Microsoft's code. Rather, it does the same thing as Windows with open source software. No one really knows how windows works, but you can reverse-engineer it.

  • Can you please pm me on how you did this?! pLZ REPLY!!!!!!

  • all linux and linux programms is for free

  • Not really man.

  • True, since I have seen Nero Linux, and they charge for that. But most of the programs are really free. Keep in mind the word "MOST." XD

  • Woah this is a major windows game!! You rocketh mate! Thats amazing lol, all I ever see is WOW w3 and cs~

You bring me hope :) I hope someday Ill have your awesome skills dood

    Im still a beginner

  • wine doesn't start autorun.exe...with other applications works, do you know why with halo iso doesn't work?

  • ROTFLOL

  • Oh! so that's an explanation for why it's coming out of your mouth. Thank you for enlightening me member of "The most polite society".Honestly I sometimes use a Macintosh, infact I have used one since before it was "cool" and before idiots like you created this whole MAC VS PC crapola.

So STFU or TTFD and stop lecturing people on how your overpriced x86 rig somehow makes you superior, cos guess what? It doesn't!

  • would this work on your ps3 if you installed lenux on it ?

  • WOOAAW good question, most likly!!

  • Most likely not, since wine depends on the x86 chip to decode the Windows ABI, and the PS3 has a POWER chip in it. Note: It's actually kind of tricky to run Wine even on x86 64 bit.

  • just what i was thinking

  • What graphic card do you use?

  • little laggy dont u think?? lol good work tho ^^

i got steam to run under wine wih no error at all i can run css, dod,cs 1.6,dods,cscz and more

i dont see y ppl have problems

  • Man I love that pistol in halo! It's the best weapon EVERY in whole gaming history!!! <<33333333<333<33333333

  • this suks it doesent save

  • Can somebody give me a guide on how he did play halo trial on linux. I have a HP G5000 Notepad pc i`mm running Opensuse Linux 11.:)

  • damn thjats a nice monitor

  • yes you can

  • I'll probably switching to linux but I'll do it next time I format... and I dont want to feel like Im switching just to spite microsoft, it feels shallow and stupid and unnecessary. thats why Il stick with windows for now

  • haha my pcs faster than yours!!

  • lol

  • my wine doesnt work

  • "my wine doesnt work" drink up, it will start working soon

  • OMG THIS GIVES ME HOPE BECAUSE MY WINDOWS XP CRASHED RIGHT AFTER A AUTOMATIC UPDATE i have been using ubuntu and i love it but i want to play my old windows game this gives me hope but 1 question what about direct x?

  • wine emulates some DirectX with OpenGL

  • why is it laging?

  • For some reason on WINE when you run Halo the mouse has a lag issue. The game itself runs fine, but when you try to use the mouse it gets sticky and doesn't like to budge, depending on where you are. Like, walking into a big open area will make it worse than a smaller confined space.

The game itself performs well, and even better if you compile the WINE source. :D

  • stiky, huh? i wonder why

  • if u want the yellow guy to die quick when he gets out of the door then just leave ur warthog against the door and the gunner will kill him

  • he respawns too ;)

  • puttabutta, what are your system specs?

  • Eat that MR Gates

    Linux rules!!! (for me)

  • Gates quit M$! lol

  • Grunts are so damn stupid lol the sticky was right beside him and he didn't move lmao

  • Great :)

  • laggy ass shit

  • Lay off your 50 Cent CD. The pal must have a very powerful PC to run Halo even at this frame rate.

  • yeah but why such a powerful graphics card lag?

  • Because of the shaders that he has enabled while he plays for one, and partly because Halo lags in general (not that bad, but it simply does).

  • That looks better on Linux/Wine then Windows... nice.

  • HOW DID U OPEN THE DOOR ON 3:40 ?

i cant pass that, the door is close , how u open it?

  • Okay man, help me out, i got halo trial working, nvidia 7900GT and wine 0.9.59, and 0.9.61, but graphics are really slow, and have two squares in the top and bottom left corners. any special libraries? i had DX9 installed...

  • my wine works fine on cs and halo

  • mine works amazingly well with cs i just need to get halo ce the one in .rar cause i cant install or when i extracted it i had problems with vsh.bin :(

  • Runs really well comsidering that Halo is really badly optimized for PC's i.e. Windows. I just ran Unreal Gold and Crimsonland via Wine =)

  • its grate to see wine working so well at a decent fps rate.

  • puttabutta, would you be so nice to post how you where able to setup the halo trial to run, if there where any special configurations of wine you did and so on, because I have been unable to get wine to run halo. Thank you. If there was a guide you followed or something a link to that would be good to. I would really appreciate it.

  • first i was thinking you were playing halo trial while drinking wine lol

  • hahahahahah LOL

  • retail version works with wine on ubuntu, although we have yet to get halo 2 working

  • what about DSL?

  • It's too bad the retail version doesn't run with WINE too.

  • what must i do to have my pc with that desk?

see im going to buy a laptop with ubuntu and i wanna know everything about linux :D

  • can we use xbox360 and run this on linux xbox360? that'll be a great gaming console!!!

  • Thanks just wanted 2 make sure Wine works.

Why? well :) cuz im getting a PS3 soon. You people do know that you can run linux on the PS3. Well now you know. Me I want to run Windows XP games on linux which would be running on my PS3 :D which is going 2 be amazing. This means I will be running computer games on 1/8th of a 5000 dollar supercompter(This is what the ps3 is considered) So basicly I have a gaming rig for PC games AND ps3 games for 400 bucks. AMAZING I also be using a Ps3 controller :D

  • This is not going to work. Just telling you now..

  • why not

  • Linux is not a gaming platform. None of your games will work properly, and I dont think there are video drivers for the ps3.

  • So your saying linux wont recognize the Disk running wine, nor the PS3?

  • It just isnt going to work. Give it a try if you want, you'll still have a ps3 in the end. Try installing linux and running some games, you'll understand what I mean.

  • It will work but it will run very slowly because most games are built in directX instead of open GL and you will need additional packages for directX support. Thats why I have windows on my slave harddrive for games, and Linux for work.

  • why not

  • ps3 is a slow linux machine, just forget it

  • that isn't how it works. sonys claims about supercomputer speed are to be taken with a huge grain of salt. if you include the average gaming pc's gpu as part of the speed calculation you can come up with some absurd marketing numbers calling it a super computer. of course you can't run windows xp on a gpu no matter how fast it is by some measurements. the ps3 is hardly a supercomputer, its running last generation video hardware and is rapidly slipping behind in speed.

  • plz i need help with wine

  • what do you need help with roboslacker?

  • i have no clue to use wine i'm a god damn newbie

  • wine?do u mean mine?

  • you guys are fucking idiots, wine is a windows compatibility layer for linux.

  • cool. I am a halo addict. No doubt about it, but windows kept killing my CD drive and stuff so im switching to linux. I am glad that Wine can play halo trial. As for the framerate i honestly dont care. It looks like its about the same as mine is right now (i have shitty ram)

:D thanks for showin me it works. props!

  • how did u do that ??

  • Is wine really that fast. Will it play Myst?

  • Me and a friend are working on finding a good Halo PC emulator that will run on Linux ubuntu. Any sugesstions? (This is on my PS3)

  • Emulator? Wine is not an emulator. If you don't like wine, try cedega.

  • what linux o/s are you running because i know there are different kinds out there and i like the interface on this one

  • im pretty sure he's running ubuntu

  • i did the same thing but could play because of my graphic card and i have Ubuntu

  • Oh, man. The framerate makes me just want to cry. I know that Wine can slow down games, but is this just a matter of your RAM?

  • graphics card and stuff comes into play too. And Drivers etc. etc.

  • yeah the framerate here is pretty rough. Really not enjoyable.

  • i just want to say to my linux brothern keep working on games soo maybe one day we can all just play together with out this wine shit why can all game just work on mac pc pc's with linux it all just retarded

  • is WINE free?

  • Hey everyone, try half life 2 with wine. It's so much better than this... if I get time i'll post a vid of it too.

  • is installing and using Wine difficult?

Will it work on a pc that ONLY has Ubuntu installed?

    THNX

  • Any linux pc with proper dependencies can install wine, in various ways depending on the distro. Wine installs very easily. To use it, type in the terminal: wine appname.exe ... and it runs!

I would suggest going to their website winehq[dot]org and their "AppDB" there for specific programs.

  • i have a problem. i can't see the colors of people when i play online. can someone help me?

  • And game support and performance improves with every release, in some cases games perform better than they do under Windows.
