@TacooGrill Very cool if they released a new analog delay pedal, but there are already so many of those out there that I don't know what new things it could bring to the table...
The GS-201 - GSi - Soundware for musicians plug in emulation eats this for lunch. UAD's and Rolands RE-201 pedal don't even get 50% close to the colour of the origianl unlike the GS-201 at 99% for $19. Shame on you Roland & UAD, small companys putting you out the picture.
@TheClublove Um... hello? This is a pedal. Try to compare similar items on what they are, how much they cost and where they can be applied. There is also a wonderful emulation of the Space Echo in Guitar Rig, but you don't see anyone comparing it to the Boss pedal... (by the way, have you tried it yourself?)
@TheClublove Is that what they tell you to say at the Soundware Sales Institute? You must be trying to promote Soundware, because you wouldn't make such a stupid comparison otherwise.
Shame on you Clublove, common sense putting you out the picture.
You have to try it first... but it gets you there for sure - it's just that you might not get so crazy about its sound. Try a store that has a 30 day-refund guarantee...
Old Boss pedals are the best! those Japanese ones that were built with the better parts! I dont touch modern Boss! its all out of a chinese factory now with some cheap crappy parts that effects the quality of sound!! for delay like effects! I got a Brian Wampler Echo! completely handbuilt analog delay with high quailty parts! and its not that pricey. Boss uses gimmicks and past glorys to market their stuff now! insetad of making it how it should be
Don't ever be such a gear snob. "Cheap crappy parts"? What the hell are you talking about? Have you got any idea what the difference in price is between those parts and the "boutique" parts?
Boss are still bulletproof and if you know how and when to use them, they can give an amazing sound, as demonstrated by famous guitar players again and again. As for the attempt on understanding basic management principles, I wouldn't try it a 2nd time if I were you...
I didn't say!! you can buy pedals that sound as good as Boutique stuff! BUT for the same price as buying a Boss pedal! seriously, check out Brian Wampler pedals! and there is otehr guys out there that are handbuilding quailty stuff at great prices
I know they are. I am a huge pedal geek myself and own several. Zvex, Catalinbread, Fulltone, MI Audio, Keeley... but I always try to realize the benefits of each individual pedal, no matter if it is a Boss or a DAM. Boutique can definitely sound great, but not always, and sometimes paying huge amounts of money, waiting in endless lists and receiving zero customer support is downright insulting...
thats cool :) I'm not one of those who blasts a ton of money on the most pricey pedals! I just find what I can do best with my money. I do use Boss pedals, a CE-2, PH-1r and DC-3. One of the best things ive heard is a Modded Boss DS-1! thats a good way to go if your on a budget. btw, Do you own the Zvex Fuzz Factory? whats your views on it?
Yes, I own one, a Vexter (silver) one. I used to be very snobbish about it myself because I always thought it can't be used live, and that it just gives out crazy sounds and nothing else.
Well, I was mistaken... it can go from Hendrix to Smashing Pumpkins to high gain wall-of-sound, and even at whisper volumes too... its only drawback is that it has so many knobs interacting with each other that I can never remeber all the settings (there are hundreds of good combinations, check the net)
I like pedals that are simple :) like my ce-2! 2 knobs! thats good for me :) or the MXR Phase 90 with just the one!! I thought about getting a Fuzz factory, it looks very versitle but then I think if I would be more happy with a more simple Fuzz where I dont have to fiddle so much. I try to disipline myself!! choose a fav setting and leave it alone :)
I also think so too... people say that the more tweakable a pedal is, the better, but there is a perfectly good reason for the traditional configuration of three knobs (vol, tone, gain): simplicity! You can't beat that!!!! And probably my most favourite phaser, the Small Stone, has only one knob, and that's all it takes to create a wonderful sound... :-)
I am always stuck on which phaser I like :) I have a Small Stone myself, very cool sound but horrible on batterys :) I also have a Boss PH-1r and original MXR Phase 90, they are all good. I do have a Boss PH-3 that I picked up for a silly price but I hardly use it! the other 3 pedals make in sound thin
Wow! I would really like to play with an original old MXR, I've never done it myself. You really know your phasers... I was just about to buy the Moog because I thought it was going to be the best sounding of all, but I was a bit dissapointed... I didn't get it - I'm very happy with the EH (on DC power). Might get the Subdecay sometime in the future...
I think mine is a 1980 version? not one of the old 70's script ones but its still an original MXR and sounds good :) I think they were bought out? was it 1983? something like that! its all dunlop now. the Moog does look good :) but its price is violent! id love a Moog synth! but thats way out of my budget! so I got a Microkorg instead :)
Υes, very very expensive but at least its design is a marvel - there could be a whole book with the connections that it can be put into, by control voltages from synths, the use of external volume pedals... it's a beast.
Try using your phasers on your Microkorg, or any other synth... if you remember, some of Jean Michel Zarre's trademark sounds were made with the Small Stone!Try putting on some white noise through it and play with cutoff & resonance... add some long delay and see what happens!
Already done that :) works great :) It was the music of gary numan that got me into the synth thing. I like other stuff like Air, Goldfrapp, Brian Eno, Trent Reznor, Ladytron, Depeche Mode, Blondie, Public Image. Synths and guitars are nice together
'cept swede woman are bigger/same size then most men from any race... but swedish people are crazy at metal.. they know their shit about that genre...
