I can't believe six flags has just allowed this park to fall to the ground. If six does not want the responsibility of revitalizing the park sell it to someone who will. So many good memories and jobs have been crushed. They have so much money that they can put in 4 new coasters into 1 park in 2011 and many other parks,take the money and put this park back in operation.

I am glad you got in to document this. What a huge waste, most of these rides could of been renovated and reused. I think it would be in New Orleans best interest to auction off all the rides and use the proceeds to raze the site. But I doubt that the auction proceeds would be enough. Especially in this economy. But at least some of the artifacts would be safe from vandals.

@Costerguy1234556 I said could of, if they had been got to fast enough. I realize that 5 years of rust will pretty much destroy shit. But the bumper cars could be cleaned up and used as decorations. This also goes for the coaster cars and any of the plastic decorations that haven't been smashed by vandals. And you could scrap out the steal in the other rides and make an ok profit. I know that they can never be rides again, but still there is money there.

But the longer the stuff that is salvageable sits, the less likely that the city will make any money off it. Dismantle and sell is much better then rot away. New Orleans got stuck in the deal, they may as well make the best of it.

@quiksilvermanblue To my knowledge Six Flags evaluated the structural and electrical damage to all the rides and decided that only one ride was worth the cost of relocating and refurbishing. Still sad to see the park trashed.

@quiksilvermanblue The water damage made renovating what was there a worthless endeavor. Once some of these rides/controls/structures sit in water long enough, they can't be salvaged...or it is simply cheaper to buy a new ride rather than fix the damage. AFAIK, the only major ride that DID get salvaged was Batman: The Ride, most of which sat above the flood levels, and thus could be salvaged. It now operates as Goliath at Six Flags Fiesta Texas.
