I only know stripes or tags in the color of the following belt, i.e. yellow with f. ex. green tag/stripe. Or a white belt with a stripe/tag of the following colour, like white belt/blue stripe. Is it common in Ashihara Ryu to have belts like that?
the big problem for me is the begginning of the sequence,i don't think someone can block one punch like the teacher show, because your enemy wants to punch your face, that's the target, and is not easy escape of this punch passing by you so close
@Walisgton I agree, I studied enshin and ashiharar, and it's (sabaki) is easier said than done, I value it, but I also value my kyhokushinkai and my kb background(s). Once I grab them, I revert to judo. so oyama an judo makes for Jushindo, my own style.
The technique being taught is very practical. The teacher explained it very clearly. Ashihara karate is one of the most practical striking art. Very very effective.
Love the clean technique

alexcoltm4 2 years ago
Practice even more you blocks, your arms will get used to it.

If you are using your arms to block kicks, you should consider using your legs instead

The quality of instruction in this video is the best I've ever seen.
Generally, one has to attend a special regional seminar to get this type of instruction.
Do all Ashihara schools teach this way?

The sensei is great. I've been practicing ashihara for 5 years, and I just quit and began wing chun, but our sensei wasn't as efficient as this guy.

Ashihara is one the best kept secrets of martial arts world. I hope to see more Ashihara practitioners in future, for it is a no-BS martial art.
