  • Incredible video...thank you

  • While your heart is in the right place, you're very irresponsible when you hearald an 8 story adobe blding. Unreinforced adobe structures are the reason 316k Haitians died in a 7.0 earthquake. I live in Baja California, MX, where there is a lot of poverty, but people have reinforced homes. We had an earthquake of the same seismic proportion with 2 fatalities. Responsible building protects the environment but protects humanity first. You want to put your kids up on the 8th floor? Not me. Wise up

  • Great work! Thank you, brother.

  • What a wonderful way you present what can be done with futuristic building. It is so ridiculous the accepted development of this day. Practical living, made simple, by using natural resources to accomodate the need to develop. I wish the world would wake up more quickly.

  • well done..

  • Hey mate.I wanna learn also about adobe and super adobe.Perhaps we could get intouch and learn from eachother.Im in the process of developing a great proyect that might interest you. Thanks for posting and hope we can get in touch soon.

  • Well said

  • Why is it that people leave there shit hole county , come to the US, then say we should be more like there shit hole country. I'm just saying.

  • Wouldn't burning the bricks make them waterproof? Or at least stronger to withstand it?

  • I love the idea of green buildings but I think it only fair to point out that when you hear about thousands of people being killed in earthquakes, it's almost always in these types of structures. Masonry structures where earthquakes can happen are very dangerous.

I would like to see more about green buildings which are not so susceptible to such disasters. Monolithic domes (though not as green) can stand up to anything and still use far less energy to heat an cool.

  • No links to literature? ouch!

  • Amazing video, thank you so much for sharing this knowledge. I have been looking more and more into how to build a home that is Earth friendly such this and straw bale homes. I believe it is the future of the world.....Much Love and Respect

  • We need more of this sort of thing here in the good old USA

  • thanks for this interesting info

  • Wow this is great I'd love to try and build one of these

  • holla haaaa sweet

  • good video a lot of info.

back to nature is the key to survival if not the earth will take what is rightfully hers.

you saw an example in hurricane Katherina.

people have to learn to listen and learn and evolve to survive in the long run.

  • I suppose that you mean hurricane Katirna. I understand that the government knew that the dikes were weak and needed to be strengthened, but the ecological/green community wouldnt allow it. When the level of the water in the dikes rose the dikes failed. Thanks to the ecologically minded community homes and lives were destroyed. As if man was not an animal that deserved his place on this planet.

  • Oh, you mean when mossad operatives blew the dikes open with explosives? Hah!

  • great video!

  • It's one thing to tell a person that they should take a workshop on these techniques, but unless you tell us where, you are only "preaching to the choir" as the rest of us don't know where to find this info. I agree with you that buildings should be more natural. However, something should be done to remove the use of limestone in the buildings; I am of the opinion that building should not require fire.

  • great video brother.

  • this is the building techniqe for the past, present, and future. cheap materials close to the building project can be used. how does it get better than that?

  • These materials you use are week, and ware down over short periods of time.

It is true that builds of today might last for 10's of years. But these buildings they are refering to last for centuries. Infact, we don't know how long they last, as some have been around for centuries and aren't going anywhere.

They are also much more friendly to the environment.

How can you get better than that. Learn both sides of a story before you say yours is the best.

  • Actually, it does work in rainy climates. It just requires a waterproof foundation (ie. concrete or lime) and a decent roof. The rest of the house can be mud.

  • @fightjapanrc NEVER concrete!!!!!

  • The Cob Cottage Company is based in Oregon. They started this recent revival of natural building in America. There are also 40,000 earthen homes in Devon, England. You know, where it rains a lot. Please do a little research before you denounce something as wonderful as natural building.

  • yeah, dillweed. what they said.

  • ya duckweed what everyone else said to 500passwords.

  • 5/5 stars!!!!

    awesome post!

    Best video channel on You-Tube!

  • good example of a man's word being more important than this voice? not important. i think the plastering is "whitewash" - slaked lime chaulk, and water - look it up on wikipedia.

  • good info!

  • This is a great video. So much to learn.

  • so what u use for plaster? lime plaster? and for painting the outside? whats the bright paint? is it gympsum mixed with water? regards

  • im interested in building w adobe ...

    any info would be apreciated.

    tx nice video.

  • To rebuild New York out of mud sounds so non-progressive. ;) Unless they can drastically strengthen mud and improve the way it looks.

  • Great video!!!!

  • Man! you are striking a chord here! I come from that region (Hadramut).. I was actually born in one of these mud houses! Miss it:(

  • Hey Dave, Congratulations Great work. Sean here from Toronto

  • What do they do with the lime? Is that a special mix coating the put on parts of it? Is it waterproof or is there some other advantave? thanks.

  • No special mix, just straight-up lime, and yes, it is waterproof, but still permeable to water vapour, so it breathes.

  • Thanks
