@DEEHARDONE YOUR WORDS ARE VERY TRUE INDEED, FOR I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMMENTS IN MUCH THE SAME EXPRESSION AS YOU WRITE, SO THIS IS PROOF POSITIVE THAT MUSIC TODAY IS "SHIT", I HOPE I HAVE THAT RIGHT?
@ClubPenguin8241 Huh?? You must be kidding. This sounds nothing like Jeff Healy, and in case you forget how to read, the name of the band is in the title of the video.
When I was young, I always assumed this song was about Australia. Then I discovered they were Scottish...and I thought "But Australia is much larger than Scotland!". Feel like a bit of a goose now. :p
I LOVE THIS SONG THROUGH OUT MY HEART, and everytime i listen to this i image things in my mind and i image theNorthern side, I love memmories sometimes.
@Arin099: It's a positive message about how you might feel like your life isn't worth living... but as long as you're alive there's still a chance to make your dreams come true. At the moment just before death... is there calm acceptance? Or a fight to stay alive? I guess it depends on your state of mind. I love the lyrics... even after i found out that the song writer killed himself. It's sad.. but a part of him lives on in his beautiful song.
@JenniferPHendrix - ??? - SHOT !!! (as ur shot dead) COME UP SCREAMING . . . (as ur crying out 4everything u might have wanted) HOT !!! ( as u find urself trapped in dead burning hell) - ; )
I like this song due to the good 1980's with wild dreams of a Dachshund driving a concrete mixer truk mixing concrete and clearing snow at the same time and me scraping with a green scraper!
Is that was he was saying? Ive loved this song since it first came out. Sad Stuart adamson had such an end. yeah, most music sucks now, but lets not go around stabbing people. Theyll die their own pop deaths brought on by their own musical lameness. pop idols have a 4 year run. Justin is at his idol end! mark my words..
@TonyHawkFan16 katy perry is good, fuck all the rest... especially the kid that was 12 and could sing, we all could when we were twelve like what the fuck
@TonyHawkFan16 LOL after listening to Cat Stevens , I feel like bombing the arab shit-skin nations... hehe ...."GIVE US CAT STEVENS BACK!!!" hes been brainwashedm but we can fix him... we can fix all of it! WE CAN FIX THIS!!!
now honestly how the hell is big country a one hit wonder, no way! :(
to anyone whose heard big country songs besides me, and people like bieber that have no heartfelt lyrics or TALENT, TO ME AMERICA IN SOMEWAYS IS FUCKED UP!
This song is truly the triumph of love. Even when a guy wins a girl and spends the rest of their lives together and live a wonderful experience of love. ( -)
@truedominator13 Having a hot ass girlfriend doesn't do any good when you have a unit that can only be seen under a scanning electron microscope....oh and he's a raging homosexual. It's all in the little details. Pun intended.
Falco, Stuart Adamson and many other rockers appears to leave us in their middle age. So sad to see time taken it toll on this generation I grew up in...A bit of free advice for the youth of today, "A youth that is not wasted is a wasted youth" ...Party hard kids, you only get one chance at being young.
The e-bow was used to create 'strings' in their sound. The bagpipe sound was done through tuning, harmonics, droning two guitars together and effects. The other sound that they got with their guitars was something like a 'Celtic fiddle'.
@LotusDriver260 It is a great song ... but that sound does not come from a bagpipe. Playing the guitar with a device called an EBow leads to that sound, it's what Big Country were well known for. Curious fact: Stuart Adamson didn't like it being compared to bagpipes, which seems strange considering it's a deliberate move.
For a rock song with actual bagpipes, listen to "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)" by AC/DC. ;)
@SownTheRose I was so sad when I heard his death...I am so glad you can correct people with the bag pipe thing...people mix that up. I am big fan of Stuart Adamson love his voice and was in Hawaii when I heard of his death.Love this song so much my husband had tears in his eyes when I play this for, he sad it takes him back when things were simple and cool...
@SownTheRose i knew they weren't bagpipes thanks to RB3 but oddly enough they kinda do sound like them 'cept for one major difference and that is played bagpipes have an air quality to the notes sometimes some of the notes here would have air sounds other than that that's the only similarity
and i've heard that song before good song love the solo in that one lol
This song always gives me the chills and the desire to run as fast as possible to the highest hill/mountain top and jump up and down and put both of my arms up like Rocky
A great song with great lyrics... it is a benchmark to show just how bad some of the stuff on the radio is today. No autotuning here!!!! Classic tune.
I never really paid too much attention to this song until now. The lyrics are amazing. I feel truly sad to hear the lead singer committed suicide. I guess he had a battle with alcohol. One thing I will say is this song is a legacy he left that is truly amazing. None of the crappy acts today can write something this amazingly heartfelt.
Yes keep living, don't hold time. Great song, Yet let Perry, Bieber, Kesha do their thing too... you have not heard Jesse Rodrguez and you dont maybe in another 20 years or so. Move out all you Rock and Rollers soon you're going to get older ("bowie") here we go again so let go and live your memories. Cheers Big Country.
The Guy Who Wrote A Truly Unique Song About Appreciating Life And 'Staying Alive' Hung Himself In A Hotel Room. Maybe He Knew Too Much About Appreciating Life. Earth Is Fake. This Song Rocks.
@astorianstigmata Big Country songs are the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, and yet I find a lot of them so very sad. Listening to Dynamite Lady on the bus home and it hits hard. Always found I Could Be Happy Here (demo version) to be the hardest to listen to, though. When you remember he wasn't happy here...
