  • I remember watching this years ago , the stories were good but when they showed the people injured it was like watching a really bad b rated movie , if you want to make a show like this make it look real .

  • darn! that hurts. i already make a fuss with a simple cut, whats more with that deep. i would definitely ask for anesthesia

  • this occurred on the day that Shenae Grimes was born

  • You know, I am sure Shelly found ways to strengthen the muscles in her arms like maybe sports such as golf, softball or maybe basketball. Also, maybe she took up a musical instrument such as the guitar or piano since they would also work to strengthen her arm muscles.

  • ewwwwww donkey

  • shes older than me

  • why me why me not her

  • She's lucky she didn't cut her face or neck when she fell. After seeing this, I wouldn't try to hang anything over a mirror or window. A few months ago I fell off a makeshift platform while I was making a video, and I hit my garage floor on my side. It took a month for the pain in my back to stop. Thank goodness there wasn't any glass or anything sharp for me to fall on.

  • @wiiplayer9isback I once fell off a weak chair in the kitchen at age 7...but I luckily was not near glass, I just fractured my arm.

  • stupid window

  • i had the same thing happen to me when i was about 10 but not near as bad...was standing on a stepstool hanging up a pic and my finger was cut pretty good. thats why now that im a mom i dont hang pics above windows...GOD BLESS HER!

  • Talk about a freak accident! This is horrible!

  • Scary, I sure hope it doesn't happen to me or anyone I know!

  • Oh soo sad

    i like this show alot!!..

  • they should have rescue 911 come back to tv and the person who should host it should be John Walsh

  • 15 hours dang

  • anyone know the name for the episode a baby boy shot him self with a gun

  • At 8:52.... Quote of the year.

  • It's amazing that she not only survived but that she didn't lose her arms-& they became functional again! Man when I heard that it was cut to the bone I thought it very likely she would lose an arm! Holy cow!

  • Holy Shit !! O.O

  • thats why i don't hang stuff by my window

  • @wiiplayer9isback Also...NEVER use a weak stool in front of a glass window!

  • Actually, you don't just go from shock to death. There's a phase between compensated shock and death called decompensated shock. It's just that by the time you reach it, you're most likely not going to live through it.

Dr. Hackey needs to explain that to one of the doctors where I work. He wouldn't let us do anything, b/c he thought we were nitwits who couldn't be trusted to know what to do.

  • windows are horrible

  • Can the vein they used in artery reconstruction handle the high pressure at such close proximity to the heart?

  • @1RadicalOne They do a reverse graft; well, I don't know if they did then, but they have since the early 2000's wen I was an OR Technician. Veins are under a lower pressure than arteries, b/c veins have valves. The valves helped the blood continue to flow toward the heart instead of backtracking. That's why they reverse the vein; so it will allow the blood to flow away from instead of toward the heart.

  • @1RadicalOne They reverse the vein when they put it in so that blood flows away from the heart, as it does in arteries. They have to reverse it, b/c veins carry blood TO the heart.

What they did is called a reverse vein graft.

I used to be an OR Technician. I saw a few vein graft operations.

  • October 24th is my grandfather's birthday.

  • awsome

  • awsome , happy belated birthday to your grandfather

  • 0:55 LOL

  • that is like what happened to me and i lost my arm

  • @kittytabatha72 how did that happen

  • @kittytabatha72 thats messed up i hope your doing ok

  • seeing all that blood levitates my heart eww

  • pshh whatever, shes already running around rough housing in 3 weeks.when i cut my arm to the bone and had 5 1/2 hours of surgery,i wasnt able to move my arm away from my chest for several months and even 11 years later still cant use my left hand correctly.

  • this episode gave me chill

  • I usually don't care if I get minuses, b/c I can't stop them from coming, but I wonder why I got 4 of them when I explained what my sister's medical emergency did to me.

I'm glad my sister's emergency wasn't featured on Rescue 911. I would never be able to tolerate all the ridiculous fuckin' judgments people would undoubtedly lavish on it.

  • u probably get them cuz of the swearing!! ever thought about that!!

  • What happened :O?

  • ((((vickiormindyb))))

  • @vickiormindyb if it's any consolation i'm on your side

  • I imagined what happened to the girl in episode 406 happened to me. I was 24 years old and after I fell through the window which was made of plate glass. it was on the sliding door. I was screaming and crying like a baby. My guts were sticking out and I shouted "I'M DYING, MOTHER I'M DYING!"

  • damn that must have been some window

  • "People think they're lucky to win the lottery. I'm lucky to have my life."

That quote from Shelly is the quote of the segment if you ask me!

  • Hello!Wow!But she be saved either!=)

I am happy the rescue saved her life and saved shers arm!=)

    Great job of the doctors!=)

Give you 5 star for the good film of rescue!=)

    Greeting TheCARRE74=)

  • Shit, my are is actualy burning!

    O_o

  • Poor girl I hope she's ok

  • Oh man that must had hurt so bad! :(

  • i have tachycardia too. found out i had it a year and half ago..it does suck because it can be dangerouse but u just have to be careful

  • That 911 Operator is lucky she didn't get one of those hostile families when she told them their granddaughter's going to be all right.

Even if the patien wasn't going to die, looking at all the blood is enough to send most family members into a panic.

I speak from both professional and personal experience.

Everything was clearly NOT all right when my sister coughed up a sink full of blood.

I think my own experience gives me an advantage in helping families through emergencies.

  • "One minute everything's okay, the next just sheer terror."

That's exactly how it was when my sister had her emergency.

I didn't know it when I was 13, but she was in severe tachycardia. That's what the heart monitor revealed when I sneaked halfway upstairs and peered over the landing. The EMTs wouldn't let me go upstairs but I HAD to see if she was still alive. I didn't stay there long, b/c they asked me to come back down.

I'm glad I didn't know then she was on the verge of falling into v-fib.

  • Hi Vicki!

I've read many of your comments and know you are a wonderful person and professional. My heart goes out to you and I appreciate the work you do. I have many medical conditions resulting in lots of surgery and trips to the ER. But I still enjoy life and I am grateful to EMT's, doctors, nurses, etc. and my family and friends who all make it better for me. Please know I do care. People in the medical field have a special place in my heart. Take Care, Sara

  • @Shorty5959

It's nice to see someone appreciates what EMTs do.

  • my cuzin bielly bleeded to death =\ but he fell asleep and got his seat belt sliced in his belly

  • I was wondering how did that happen??? Sorry I asked

  • he got in a car accident on his way home from work and just before a corner he flippedhis car and hit a tree then he blood to death , n its okkk

  • LOL they just rolled the chair right under him they must train for this

  • I miss this show real bad now that it is not on anymore where I live.

  • Wow you know these videos are all amazing.

  • I felt numb after watching that... Ow :s

Thanks so much for uploading so many of these vids - love watching them, even if some do freak me out a bit :p

  • This was what, like 1989 and the stuff the Paramedics used (and thier rescue squad) looks just like the one Johnny and Roy had on Emergency! in 1972.

  • I know the 911 Operator meant well when she told the grandmother the girl would be okay, but you shouldn't promise a patient's family she's going to be all right until you're sure it's true.

I made this mistake when I was an EMT-D, and the patient's son took me to heart. When she died, he was not only grief-stricken but felt deeply betrayed by me.

Let them know you're doing everything you can to help their loved one, but don't give them false hope.

  • I've watched about 60 of these 911 videos and, besides Dr. Hackey, only one other Doctor has mentioned the importance of the Paramedics.

It may be hard to believe, but not all doctors act as if they believe we add a great deal to their job.

I'm glad at least 2 of them noted our benefit to them in the 911 segments.

In short, I like Dr. Hackey and that other doctor.

  • hey hey hey! We EMTs are just as important too!!

  • A Paramedic IS an EMT (EMT-P). . .and all EMTs are important. I'm not like one of the first Paramedics I worked with, who told me that an EMT-Basic was useless in any true emergency. I was brand-new then so I said nothing, but I swore I'd NEVER treat another human being like that when I became a Paramedic.

  • @vickiormindyb

Just curious, I've seen many of your comments, and you seem like a nice, mature professional. But in most of your comments you say you're an EMT, and then in another video you were saying that you're a police officer and talking about when it's okay to use deadly force. I'm confused, lol! Which are you?

  • anyone notice the irony in all of this?...The person who helped her is Doctor Hacky...

  • I'm a Paramedic.

If someone cuts themselves that bad, you use more than a towel. You also need to raise their legs as far as they can go. And continuously talk to the patient so she doesn't go to sleep. If you can't keep her legs raised yourself, put something under them so they stay elevated.

I don't know why the 911 instructions for control of bleeding didn't mention raising the legs.

It's important to do so, b/c it gives the patient extra blood as she waits for help to arrive.

  • starts at 0:50 Noooo!!!!!

  • that look like a 1 in a 10000 that could happen

  • The dispatcher saounds like an idiot asking the same questions over and over.

  • 100th rater

  • A comment on the people that say she , 'Didn't die', Because 'God is good'. I just have one question about it, If God is so " GOOD" , Why did she fall through the window in the first place?

  • Comment removed

  • "Amen" to that, brother (or sister)! God doesn't give a (censored) about us! If only God would've intervened on 9-11, and many countless other times...but that wasn't the case was it? If that's blasphemy on my part, tough shit!

And about the inflicting of torture & torment...well, if God "loves" us so much, why would he create a hell to burn up those that don't "love" (read:fear) him? Couldn't he just let all go to heaven, or simply not exist after death? Guess that's not "logical" is it?

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks...as to a forum allowing more (if not unlimited) space, well I'm sure there are some forums that will let you spill your guts out lol but I can't point you to one dealing with religion, etc.-but you're free to shoot me a PM if you wish.

  • IMHO, it seems that Lucifer's the one who created the need for Hell. God responded to the Devil's plot to overthrow him (God) by bringing Hell into existence, but Satan made the choice that led to his exile from Heaven.

My daughter's dad died on September 11 in the World Trade Center.

That situation also occurred b/c people made a terrible choice.

I won't say I understand why it had to happen-I still have no idea-but I refuse to blame God for a choice made by murderous people.

  • you're a strong wise woman. i'm sorry for your loss

  • She fell through the window b/c she put the chair too far away from the wall.

I'm a Paramedic. We see way more incidents related to crime & drunk driving than true accidents like the one in this segment.

If I had to see someone hurt, I'd rather it happen the way it did here instead of her being victim to a stabbing, shooting or drunk driving incident.

I'm sick of watching people purposely hurt others. If they insist on doing the crime, they should have to look at its result.

  • The accident happened on the day that the

8th episode of Rescue 911 aired on CBS.

  • She likely severed her brachial artery. That's why windows and sliding glass doors should be safety glass, as it doesn't shatter as much. Glass shards are like razorblades.

  • Is your name a homage to the emperor from

    the Star Wars franchise?

  • Sure is.

  • did she die this girl

  • I once punched a window at age 6, and it cut my wrist. I got a bad scar as a result, but it's gone now.

  • This is why i can never be a doctor. Way too much pressure.

  • 15,16,15,16,15 lol thats all I heard..

  • im so fuckin happy she survived. the same thing happened to my twin brother when he was in the 8th grade. he was leaning on the window and he arm went through it. the doctor said that if it was 3cm deeper that he would have died. thank the lord he survived and im gonna say again that im happy she survived too. God is good

  • I'm happy to you too..God bless you and your twin brother!

  • I don't mean to be mean but the granddaughter should not have been dumb enough to use a wobbly old stool, I am grateful that she is okay now, but she should have used her head. The good news is that she is probably going to be a lot more careful and closer to her family. I watch these episodes so that I can avoid the perils these people face and I find most of these situations can be avoided through use of common sense.

  • Yeah, I know what you mean...especially the dumbass 12yo boy who managed to light an M-80 firework in his house (equivalent to 1/4 stick of dynamite)...and nearly blew his hand off. That clip is also on YT, from Rescue 911. Titled, "911 Firecracker Exposion."

  • I guess doctors come through when you need them the most.

  • kind of makes me want to know my parents better... my mom and i get in fights to, but you never know.

  • me too

  • "She now had her own room".

Well obviously she still doesn't deserve one. Haha, just kiddin.

  • (screams)

  • poor girl this was really sad :(

  • i remember this what yr?

  • January 1, 1991

  • so what happend did she fall

  • I know very scary......

  • I gave you all +1 on your ratings! and btw YOU ROCK ALLGOOD2000 i love these videos

  • A friend of ours had the same thing happen to him, we were running through the house playing hide and go seek, it was a huge house, 6,000sq, a basement and 3 floors. And he happened to run through the kitchen through a sitting area towards the sun room, which had a glass door. Both arms were severely cut. I had never seen so much blood. Thank goodness he is ok now.

  • Just shows the dangers we usually don`t even think about.

  • some of these episodes make me shiver, I never would have thought glass could do that kind of damage.

  • Another episode that gave me nightmares!

  • I was wondering if you had the segment from this episode where a man crashes his snowmobile in a tree. If you have that one, could you put it up?

  • how come no one brought her balloons?

  • That was scary

  • that was kinda a back mistake to stand on a stool on a carpet

  • my mothers friend had a nephew who was running back and forth through his houss and the back door was made of glass and when he was running the wind blew the door shut and he ran straigt through the door and collapsed on the lawn and he died before the ambulance arrived

  • YIKES.

    thank god i have arms.

  • Owie, that must have been throbbing!!

  • wow, didnt know this was so close to me, i lived like 5 miles away from the hospital at the time, crazy how stuff happens so close to you and you dont know it....wonder how she is now

  • these are so cool to watch

lol atleast theres 315 episodes of them

  • This is the same thing that happened to my neighbors neiece. She was playing around with her cousin in the house and her cousin slammed the door and the glass shattered everywhere. The veins were hanging from her arms and blood was squirting everywhere. It happened the same year when this episode came out in 1991.

  • wow

  • go to tvshowsondvd, com and vote on rescue 911 on dvd, rescue 911 has 433 votes

  • Maybe if Shelly had asked her grandmother or grandfather to help keep the stool in balance so she could put the picture on the wall, nothing would have happened.

  • ALLgood, to you have the one where the teenagers scale the balcony and one falls from the 4th floor.

  • I do, but it has a big chunk missing out of the middle.

  • Exitabc. I'm an EMT myself... And you dunno how frustrating it is to get information to sit there and listen to people scream at you... when you dunno where to dispatch the ambulance to... or anything...

  • We have EMT classes at my college

  • That's why there needs to be an enhanced 911 system EVERYWHERE...that way, your address already shows up at the 911 computer, and voila they know exactly where to send help to. People oftentimes tend to get emo (I know I would), when a sudden emergency situation happens...and they're afraid of the thing getting worse, etc.-before help arrives (hopefully).

  • Fucking sux...

  • they should be screened before hired. often, i notice that they can't process the info quickly. i used to have nightmares that i called 911 and they blew me off or were very slow- then it HAPPENED!!!!! the operator just couldn't remember anything i had said! i yelled at him to concentrate and LISTEN! oh my!

  • i thoguth it was night time it kinda looked like it wen she was standing on that stool. hmmm dont know

    yummy blood. thats disguisting

  • THAT SUCKS FOR HER.

  • OMFG I dont know what to say.......for a change xoxo

  • I never knew that a simple accident like this could cause so much damage

  • this is just like the one when the two boys are home alone and they are having a pillow fight on the bed and one boy accidently pushes the other boy through the window and the boy has a huge gash in his arm this is just like that one but there is only one person and there was no pillow fight(lol)

  • Actualy I don't think they were fighting with pillows-I think they were jumping on the bed!

  • this is one of those segments that stuck with me for years

  • Ugh, the HORROR! I saw the original airing of this in '91, and has haunted me ever since. Crap happens so fast and easily. 911 people on the phone, in general are partially deaf or something, it seems. They ask stupid questions too often, and make you repeat and repeat! This poor kid. E-YUK!

  • I know what you mean, when I was 16 my dad had a massive heart attack. He was getting ready in the bathroom and I heard a thud. The lady on 911 expected me to pick him up which was impossible. The hospital was less than a block and a half away and yet it took them 12 minutes for them to get to our house. He didn't make it. Its been nearly 10 years and I still have nightmares about it.

  • I am so sorry!! That is horrible!!

  • He is fine now and doing great, he had surgery to keep the scars to a minimum

  • how do you know the person?

  • you came in the middle, it might help to go back and read what was originally.

  • im sooo sorry, you know it wasnt your fault right?! i would be SO traumatized... when you are still a child with developing muscle mass you shouldnt be expected to lift a full size man, by yourself! even a fully grown man wouldve had to drag him, possibly injuring him more, it was wrong of the operator to put you in that position! she shouldve instructed you to do cpr, thats what they are there for! if its anyone's fault, it was the operator not following procedure...im so sorry for your loss

  • this was a reply to: eabdeb8176

  • they should be screened before hired. often, i notice that they can't process the info quickly. i used to have nightmares that i called 911 and they blew me off or were very slow- then it HAPPENED!!!!! the operator just couldn't remember anything i had said! i yelled at him to concentrate and LISTEN! oh my!

  • omg, like Final Destination style...

  • I can't belive that they don't have this show on the air anymore.

  • oh

  • What happens with the kid in the yard?

  • I sort of remember what you are describing..I think the kids are playing tag. And one of the boys accidently pushes one of the other boys though a glass door, and his arms are covered in blood..it's pretty nasty.

  • I'm an EMT and I've got to say the worst thing about calls like this is cleaning out your unit after the call. We're talking mop & bucket time, sometimes you have to take the mop to the celling too...Nasty!

  • They were playing in the yard. Mom or someone would go somewhere and they stayed home with their oldest brother. It would be really cool if you could show me or upload the video I've not found it.

  • Yeah, of course! Allgood2000 do u have like the same thing but with a boy named Michael or his bro??

  • Ouch! That had to hurt!
