My last name is eastman, and my mom ordered something and demonstrated her name saying "Eastman, like Eastman kodak." so they mailed it out to Anna Kodak. Americans. *Sigh*
Kodak has been shaving it's workforce for the past 15 years. Kodak wants to get rid of the excess so that they don't have the burden of taking care of those who serviced them for many years. It is sad that American businesses have been brainstorming how to get rid of the people who have served them for generations. This is why our country is in trouble now. You can not go and take care of other countries unemployment and economic situations as your own countries infrastructures falls apart.
To even speak of Perez in the same breath as Eastman is an insult to the man's memory. Eastman may have been a bastard in business but he did his best to keep people employed even in hard times. Perez cut tens of 1000s of jobs to avoid paying out benefits and pensions while the bigwigs at head office still get their free shrimp lunches and big bonuses.
Thanks for posting, I remember this story and exhibit. Poignant to actually see the note and stand right where this great man breathed his last.
