  • Depression is scary because it can appear for what appears to be no reason at all, and it is made SO much worse because we cannot talk about it openly-- many say it's "not real". What horrifies me is that depression is a SIDE-EFFECT of ALL the INTERFERON-based drugs (AVONEX, REBIF, BETASERON/EXTAVIA, etc.). Doctors should steer their patients toward Copaxone-- depression and flu sympoms are NOT side effects of this drug. Do NOT be put off by daily injections. It is WELL worth it. Great video.

  • @CaliCousin -- I have been a Copaxone user since 2002. The injections don't bother me at all :)

  • i was diagnosed with majore depression and social anxiety back in 95 , how ever i was only diagnosed with MS in january 2008 , i seem to cry a hell of a lot more over the last few week , and the depression is more intense now and i have less motivation to get myself out of it

  • Make sure to talk with your neurologist about your depression ... meds can work a little differently for those of us with MS. It's important to be transparent during your appointments and talk about your meds. I hope you are feeling better.

    Best wishes,

    Diana

  • It will be MY HONOR to be considered "YOUR FRIEND" by you, I could very well be your grandfather, all my children are, probably, older than you are!

Thank you dear FRIEND, please advise me whenever you add another video.

  • Hi Luis -- I'm 42 :) Right now I am hypothyroid and feeling less than video-worthy -- but I am preparing for another video soon. Probably on fatigue, sleep apnea and the benefits of Provigil. I'm preparing for a sleep study soon. One step at a time.

    Peace,

    Your friend,

    Diana

  • Hi-

Glad you are confronting your depression. I would suggest that you search You Tube for "Lauren Parrott". She has MS and promotes positive thinking for her success in handling depression and the disease. She have documented her progression of MS and has received responses from MS patients all over the world. I encourage you to write to her--she will definitely write you back. You might want to ask your doctor about Tysabri.

    Best of health,

    Michael

  • Hi Michael: Thanks for the Lauren Parrott references, I subscribed. Unfortunately, Depression doesn't always respond to positive thinking -- especially real, diagnosed depression & anxiety as seen in MS at times. I have recently begun martial arts training (Combat Hapkido) which challenges me. I have been on Copaxone for 5 years and it has kept me quite stable along with some life changes. I've mentioned Tysabri to my Doc and I am just not there yet. Thank you for writing!

    Diana
