  • What's not to like, excellent flying and the "Ode to Joy"

  • @Swimswithtrout I have no complaints. Besides, I can watch the full res Pink Floyd version off my hard drive. ;-)

  • I liked the original music, Echoes is one of my favorite songs. There are many other videos on YouTube that use it, I wonder how they got around the copyright.

    Great video!

  • @smorrismlbco I love the video w/ Echoes. I can burn you a full-res copy on data DVD and send it to you if you like. It's hard to tell why some videos get blocked and others don't. Changing the audio sampling rate may help evade detection. My software lacks that feature.

  • Excellent video!!

I like the point of view and your editing.

But I have to admit you are a menace to the gaggle :-(

Try to pick a glider and stick to it flying tip to tip.

And please make your circles in thermals more or less equal to the other pilots... don´t go in front of any glider unless you are very sure you are going to go up faster than he (she)..

Maybe it was the other pilots...

    Excellent music, by the way!!!

  • @AleRiera AleRiera,. There were worse menaces than me and the thermals kept spitting cores which resulted in overlapping gaggles and pilots flying against each other. There was plenty of commotion and I could have used another camera I could aim and record all the beauty and mayhem. Luckily all the pilots were skilled and confident. 'Orderly' flying would have resulted in a lot shorter flights. Conditions were pretty difficult and this was a race, not a ballroom dance. ;-)

  • @AleRiera I agree, you look a menace in gaggles. Great video though. Are you twisting as bad as it looks or is it the camera? By reaction of the wing you seem to twist alot and wobble around, can't help your handling or gaggle reactions. Perhaps camera makes it look worse. Epic views though :-)

  • @Lawrence7of9 The turbulence in the gaggles was pretty bad due to all the wakes in addition to the fact the cores kept splitting and bubbling off.

  • Very nice video Jonathan. One of your best for sure. Thanks.

    Markus

  • @flanflystrx Thanks bro. We'll be thermalling up again soon!

  • Man around 1:44 in you can really see the closing speed of someone cutting it close..It's amazing how hectic a gaggle can get...heads on swivels...eyes wide open...crazy shots Jonathan

  • @windmedic That was fun, huh?! :-D

  • These are the best shots i've seen you pull yet. The dynamics of the video are just awesome, worthy of some Hollywood blockbuster production. It hurts to watch seeing you all having a blast, I better gtf back to my hg training so i can join you guys. Great work! 5/5

  • @aerozg Thanks Danijel! I lost all the fantastic video from the previous two days and felt blessed that I was able to capture these scenes. Get your training behind you then come join your local neighborhood flock! Jonathan

  • What an outstanding video! Flying with so many other gliders must require intense concentration! And man, you were over my stomping grounds. I've hiked the Estrellas up to Quartz Peak but the view from a glider is even better. I wonder if Luke AFB knew about the event? There's a lot of student F16 traffic over the Estrellas. At night, flying over Phoenix is like being on an ocean of light. But south of the mountains toward Casa Grande it's PITCH BLACK!

  • @pdutube Thanks Paul. It took a few hours of this over several days to get accustomed to it. At 13:48 a pair of jet trainers fly right through the middle of a gaggle 5,000' over me. The night sky was so dark and clear, I really regretted not bringing my astronomy binoculars and a start chart. I'm glad you've gotten to hike those mountains. Cheers, Jonathan

  • mice video and awesome music,

man that's a long time ago I heard this song

  • @floris1200 Thanks!

  • Fantastic song by Pink Floyd !!!. And great intense flying in gaggles.

  • @skySailor10 Thank you!

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @zenji1 Glad you enjoyed!

  • One of those lower back belly bands help support my lower back that without it I'm only good for 45 minutes to and hour. With it I'm good for two hours when my shoulders give out.

  • @wrcummings I was in so much pain I nearly set it down at Estrella gliderport. Luckily I was able to do some in-flight stretches that gave me some relief. I was toast after I landed.

  • Interesting that the conventional hang gliders don't seem to be losing much to the more exotic wings.

  • @MrLiftHog I noticed the same thing in the air. The rigid wings were unable to fly in the stronger lift near the core due to their wider turning radii.

  • Man could you imagine seeing this in 3-D ! (\O

  • @my2cents0 Now that would have been friggin awesome!

  • Jesus - Echoes - it's been a while...

  • @bloke264 It's an old sport and we're mostly well past 50 ;-)

  • Can now watch it down under mate. Nice one!

  • @bigfred190 Thanks again for the heads up!

  • That was some intense gaggle soaring...

  • @Aerocrvalley So we can expect you out next year then?

  • Ok, can't be bad when you start out with Pink Floyd. What are those round disks on the ground when you first take off? I also like the sparkle affect on your top rail. Very Disco look.

  • @BungaEBiker Those are crop circles and that fishing lure type tape helps people see me for many miles--especially aircraft pilots. I hope you didn't mind the long edit. I produce what I want to see and other may or may not enjoy it the same as I do.

  • @NMERider No worries, I don't mind the long version. Their your videos man, it's all up to you.

  • Wow those thermals look wide!

  • @WonderBoyyyyy Come on out next year. It's a blast!!!
