Except of spreading Shit, can you deliver any credible facts for your "Statements"???
You don't even understand what Chomsky stands for. Your government is ruining your country (and many others), taking your civils rights (by many executive orders, the Patriot Act, etc.) and making all the US stood for to shit ! Look at Wisconsin or other places, or at Monsanto and the FDA, the list goes on and on!
Chomsky does a rational analysis of the situation and pretty much concludes it was most likely rigged, and when I look down at the comments, people for whatever reason don't seem to have really heard what he said.
I'd prefer it if there was no free market and I was given a vehicle to drive by my government with a government label on it. Chomsky is my hero, hope he dies soon.
ahamdinejad is a big idiot everyone in iran agree on he cheated in election and leader of iran helped him to be president again now what the fuck are u trying to tell with this video ???u r an idiot too like ahmadinejad fuck u both
@gosfand2000 He is a cheat, like all politicians, a bit like Bush. On the other hand, he has culture, he speaks well and makes a lot of sense, unlike Bush. You can disagree with him or find his geopolitical situation dangerous, but that's something else. The guy is likable. I do believe the US are (have been for Iran) a greater danger for him than he actually is for the US.
Wow, look at all the inordinate amount of polite pseudo-intellectual crap about a system neither you idiots have nor Chomsky has any clue about. Take it from an Iranian-Canadian. It was rigged, end of story. And what puzzles me is the amount of upvotes some of the dumbest comments that I've seen in the world, have gotten. Liberals sure know how to pat each other on the back. What a train wreck of stupidity.
so what .chamski is jewish he wont support islamic government and ahmadinejad .i dont know why he consider himself smart .he just said doesnt seem to be a fair election .may be it was ,comparing with west it was bla bla, ahmadi nejad didnt win may be he won .is this your jewish smartass?

Only a true genius could compare and explain the profound differences in our different wars through the decades, explain the anti-movement's positive effects on lessening inhumane, horrific war acts, generally speaking, and offering the inciteful, and accurate perspective, as only Noam does.
i use to respect him , he opened my eyes to many problems in the international system , but i think his dogmatic obsession with "western decadence " is preventing him to have a clear understanding of the world politics today , sadly as he goes older he becomes more and more repetitive and stubborn, unable to explain the complexities of the world politics . He is losing his once intellectual supremacy , this is what dogma can do either to a religious fundamentalist or a social scientist
if only there was more reasonable speculation rather than the bullshit propaganda that the western media automatically sells (and so many idiot ignoramuses around the world take for face value)
Now, Chomsky, do I turn to thee, and mark my greeting well; for what I speak my body shall make good upon this earth, or my divine soul answer it in heaven. Thou art a traitor and a miscreant, too good to be so and too bad to live, since the more fair and crystal is the sky, the uglier seem the clouds that in it fly. Once more, the more to aggravate the note, with a foul traitor's name stuff I thy throat; and wish, ere I move, what my tongue speaks my right drawn sword may prove.
@Zackerybob No I am not patriotic really. I think that people just want to try to take over other people and control other people. These countries that Chomsky seems to support would do the same to the US if they could. It is easy for Chomsky to make all these moral judgements against the US when he lives here and benefits from it. Example, $3.00 gal gas in US. Other places could be $10.00 gal gas. Why does he expect a government to be nice? get real!!!
@emetds We are all supposed to be career critics of power structures, and the most relevant targets are institutions in your own country. That is your job too.
I've seen Chomsky be quite critical of the Iranian regime; a consistent false accusation that is made against him is that he supports other states - this accusation does not stand up to proper examination.
@emetds It is not wether gas cost 3 or 10 dollars a gallon but that the role of the government (any government) is to manage the country and not to own it. Wouldn't be nice if people could benefit from the natural resources of the country that supposedly belongs to them?
@annuitcoeptis2008 Well if you want the government to step into private business and then control various companies, that is a big debate. Actually that is what is happening now with Obama. Government controls many large companies through the bail bill. Such as car companies. The natural resources don't neccasarly belong to the US people. More like individual or companies. Why do you want the government to own everything? Why do you trust the government?
@annuitcoeptis2008 "Wouldn't be nice if people could benefit from the natural resources of the country that supposedly belongs to them?" How do the natural resources belong to you? People buy oil wells and natural gas deposits. The government doesn't actually own Exxon. It is private. Are you saying you want the government to "nationalize" the resources so the profits goes to the government and therefor to you the citizen and tax payer?
@emetds I don't know where you live but in the United States taxing people on their income is illegal. Most people don't bother to read the constitution where it is stated that your income is your private property. There are various groups in the US trying to end that illegal activity. I don't know how informed you are regarding the Federal Reserve, the World Bank and The IMF but judging from your response it seems you don't even know how a country belongs to you. Sorry wo(man).
@annuitcoeptis2008 I know all about that. Yes your income is private property and yes the federal reserve can tax it, because they are taxing the federal reserve note, the US dollar says federal reserve note on it. In 1913 the feds were created and we received a SS# and your name is used as company or corporate name. This is called a "strawman". We have two IDs, the US citizen and the financial ID. If you drop your "strawman" ID then you can't have a bank account. etc.
@annuitcoeptis2008 So we are like a company with a company name that is separate from the companies owner. The owner follows the constitution and the company ID, Federal reserve, ss#, "strawman" is like our company name and ID. So that is how the Feds say they have a right to have an income tax and still follow the constitution. Do you get it? RIght or wrong almost every industrial country with credit does this.
@emetds do you think Mark Twain was a spinless, opportunist, career US critic, that took the side of any country against the U.S.?
Since you probably don't even know who Mark Twain was, I'll do your homework for you.
He is the greatest American novelist who is dubbed as the father of American literature. He lived in the19th century and he was an abolitionist, women's rights advocate, an an anti-Imperialist.
all I said ,making some fctualtatement about the murderous ,terrorist regime in Iran, that has lost all its legitimacy among the iranians.repressive press by deleting them proves to be nothing but on the payroll of the terrorist regime.shame on you.
1-the fact remais that the barbaric terrorist regime has murdered tens of thousands of iranian people who simply demanded democracy and freedom.they have murdered pregnant women political prisoners.the summary executed 500 political prisoners ,who had already served their sentences and were about to be released,in 1988.they murdered .they rigged the so called election, announced ahmadinejad as president(he was khamenei's favorit for the post).
The fiancé of Neda Agha-Soltan, who was killed during protests following the Iranian elections last year, visited Israel as guest of Channel 2, the station reported Friday.
He had said his dream was to come to Israel.
Soltans death was caught on a video widely disseminated through the Internet and on news outlets, and she has become a symbol of the Iranian opposition.
2- the silent peaceful demonstration followed .the basijis(the regim's thugs) shot and killed 37 people ,NEDA,a young philosophy student was shot while standing nest to his father(type neda and see it for yourself)they murdered ,tortured to death tens of other arrested demonstrators.they tortured, raped then burnd Taraneh mossavi,a young woman musician.many simply disappeared.this murderous regime has lost ALL its legitimacy among the Iranian people.
Its's amazing that non of the Western Media made a big deal about the Afghanistan election which was an absolute disgrace. Americans and Zionists ensured pashtun puppet Karzai won by bullying persian speaking Tajik ''Abdullah Abdullah'' out of the way.
Also not 1 Arab Goverment has been elected by their people.
Green movement in iran = Orange movement in ukraine.
Thanks to the Americans they have divided The ukrainian people where
@EricTyce I think it would be incorrect to blame US imperialism solely for the problems in the Orange Movement in Ukraine. There is a long complex history behind the west/east antagonism. Many Orange supporters are rightly disillusioned with Timoshenko while ordinary Ukrainians are beginning to see the election as being a choice between two rival Mafia groupings who will exploit them just the same rather than anything else.
@LuckyPierre78 Yeah it's Anti-American but has he said anything that isn't true? If you aren't a fan of him then don't listen and comment on his interviews unless of course you find something to discredit his arguments instead of his character. Yes, he has made a decent living, but I think anyone who has the courage to say the things he does should be paid well. For every "idiot kid" paying to see him speak there are one thousand "Bill O'Reilly's" saying we should hang him for treason.
Courage?? What the hell does he have to fear? This is America, where we have freedom of speech. It strikes me as rabid hypocrisy when you spend your life bemoaning the capitalist system in America while profiting mightily from it. He's spent his career demonizing the Pentagon while receiving funding for his work from them. He denounces materialism but owns fabulous real estate around New England. He sees large corporations as fascistic and totalitarian, but doesn't mind taking money from them.
A US-based human rights organisation has called on Iran to end the execution of juvenile offenders.
Homosexuality is illegal in almost all Muslim countries, and punishable by death in many of them.
But gay and human rights groups say Iran's record is particularly shocking, having executed possibly thousands of gay men since the Islamic revolution.
@lacarneceria613 "Israel= no death penalty" LOL!!! Unless you are a Palestinian child!!! Hahahahaha - You are no better than the Nazis you murdering filth. Shame on you - uncle Adolf would have been so proud of you all.
@lacarneceria613 Well you have no right to exert your thoughts against execution for being gay, or for murder and such. You kill people in the states for your own reasons, without any justification whatsoever.
Don't speak about human rights, in any sort of rhetoric in defence of Israel, as Israeli Human Rights is an oxymoron in itself.
Plus this is in no way a defence of Iranian regime, its not great, but hey, Israel is the most fascist, racist state, bar none.
Chomsky is the biggest con-job phony of all these progressive, anti-American scum. The guy has made a very comfortable living out of bemoaning American capitalism, yet he's laughing all the way to the bank while these idiot kids put up their allowances to hear him speak.
He is the most respectable genius alive. Instead of discredit his claims by calling him an "anti-American scum" why dont you make arguments against his super powerful reasoning behind the unusual things that he claims?
I bet you cant. You cant confront such a genius with reasoning so your way is nothing more than insulting..
Ha ha ha! Well damn loverboy, why don't you just go and suck the guy off already? And please, if you think he's the most 'respectable genius alive', then you haven't read many of these public intellectuals, have you? Really, the only thing more painful than listening to this tired old fuddy-duddy droning on against America is listening to his throngs of naive supporters who would slit their wrists before they'd ever consider prying their lips off his ass.
Gradually state by state the USA is allowing gay marriages! This probably is because they have now come to realize the fact that it is soo much cheaper to fuck their own people in the ass than going and poking their noses inside other people's asses where they don't belong and are not at all welcomed. This way they can even prevent their soldiers from getting killed unnecessarily and in wane
Snap out of it you hypocrites not even in America people get to elect their president! If this was untrue then there is no reason why the candidates have to go offer their asses on a platter to those in the electoral college who actually gets to decide who the fuck becomes the president of the fucked up nation the USA!! Besides, all this crap talk only help emphasize the fact that the USA is getting increasingly frustrated as they are getting to realize they have become an impotent super power
Taraneh Mousavi, was arrested on 28 June near to the Masjed Ghoba, she was reported as disappeared for several weeks and finally her burned body was found around Ghazvin. It was reported that she was severely sexually abused while she was in detention

Kianoosh Assa, chemistry student at Elm va Sanaat University, killed in Te
fuck you jack ass. Stupids like you don't realize people like Neda have become symbols of freedom for the Iranians. You should be sitting behind your PC and jacking off instead of analyzing something you won't ever get!!
"I'm what's called here a "secular atheist," except that I can't even call myself an "atheist" because it is not at all clear what I'm being asked to deny."
I think it'd be best to classify him as an agnostic atheist.
there´s a channel in mi country´s network witch is called "encuentro " (spanish for encounter) . there i saw a docummental about his works and life , where he called himself not an atheist, and he had stated the possibility of the existence of God. of course, i dont think he reffers to the biblical atributes of God , he says it is a genocidal book. wikipedia also labelled him as agnostic.
althought actually i dont see the relevance of knowing what his faith is really.
You're correct - Chomsky's views on religion are irrelevant to this discussion. There's an interview with him here on UTube with Barry Zwicker on religion.I also e-mailed him and spoke to him about the subject and felt he was very evasive.Perhaps he doesn't want to say anything to offend people.Richard Dawkins is an atheist, and like me, he realizes that an argument (a bad one) could be made for a deistic God, which is what I think Chomsky means. There's no doubt Chomskys NOT religious.I hope so.
chomsky has done a good work in technical linguistics , such as in the universal grammar field. know days hes work is almost refuted , but that doesnt mean he is not a great linguistic . he is also an agnostic with leans to deism and his more notable works are about politics , at international and national levels. he´s an anarchist and anti-zionist . very good author in that subjects. i strongly recommend his lectures. although i dont always agree with him.
"OMG Chomsky is a zionist fake khazar jew and a controled puppet for the NWO!!!! dont believe anything he says!!!! hes probably a mossad cia agent!!!! AHHHH!!!"
Haha, that was my parody of the (very idiotic) conspiracy theorists who post shit on here badmouthing Noam. I'm seeing him tomorrow at MIT, can't wait.
Can we leave Zionism out of the discussion, Noam Chomsky is a renown scholar whose background has got nothing to do with his scientific approach dealing with a variety of issues plus he is Jewish not Israeli.
You're not listening. Iran said Yes to Ahmadinejad, No to the CIA-backed colour revolution attempt. Moussavi begged the nation to have a general strike, to conduct a civil disobedience campaign. That call was ignored because the majority want to maintain the status quo. They don't want a whole new regime. Listen.
dont be such a fucking idiot! dont bullshit, you know the majority of iranians cant stand ahmadinejad, inside and outside of the country! dont just say shit there was no cia involved, for how long are you moron iri supporters going to pull that cia card!
I am of the opinion that Iran is a free country and a great place to live whilst Israel and the United States are aggressive belligerents on a par with the Nazis. We should all continue to appease the Jihadis and honour Pol Pot's memory. Allah akbar and zieg heil my brothers.
Death to Bastard khameini that orderd the pasdaran to Shot the peacefully Demo against the Molls regim in Iran ,and also we can Not forgett that mussavi had responsibility of 30,000 iranian People were killed in Iran prisons ,that iranian People had decide to overthrow the whole regim from Iran ,desth to the all the molla,s in Iran and thier supporter in abroad ,Viva Iran lnog live Freedom.
To: BeTrollingU2. Look. I understand. Truth hurts. You are a hurt person. Simply rejecting or negating is not a form of critical analysis. You have no contribution. Thats why you make silly personal attacks. I have dealt with your "kind" before.
Wow, lot of heavy conjecturing from chomsky without a shred of evidence and he neglects to mention a poll by western firm taken weeks before the election which supports Ahmadinejad's win. Chomsky is just another shill working for the elites.
Now wheres the video on the rigged elections to put the american figurehead back into presidency in Afghanistan. There will be one right. Why arn't I hearing about the fraudulent afghan elections week after week on television.
I have been enlightened on much political knowledge by Noam Chomsky. Much inspiration I have recieved is from "Manufacturing Consent" and "Washington: The Fascist Connection". But I have disagreed with Chomsky also. Particularly on 9-11. And now I disagree with Chomsky on his view of the Iranian Elections. Ive read quite extensively on this matter. The elections were fair. Yet I still seek why some people think otherwise. Even with Chomsky and Coles specualtion, you cant fake 11 million votes.
you cant fake 11 million votes? where did you et this fiigure? How are you so sure the elections were not rigged? do you work in the interier ministry? I believe Chomsky over a 'youtuber'
To UniteResistRevolt: Ahmadinejad won over Mousavi by 11 million votes. Chomsky does not make any authoritative claim of fraud. He vascillates. He is not even sure. What suprises me is Chomsky typically uses emiprical evidence before making claims. If you are serious about persuing dialogue with me, Id be happy to tell you in detail how the elections were good. But if this is going to work, you need to make a specific claim(s) of how it was fraudulent. Then I'll be happy to respond.
If you look over my comment I dont actually claim the election was rigged so I need not make 'specific claims of how it was fraudulent'. However, I will speculate. If the United States can ''purge'' 5,220,576 votes (Palast, Armed Madhouse, pg. 359) then Iran can do it. Also, Chomsky does make one claim, that they broke their own laws whilst counting the ballot. I believe there was an injustice done.
To UniteResistRevolt: The U.S. can purge votes because they use electronic ballot casting. No paper trail. The Iranian elections used all paper ballots that were handwritten and fingerprinted. The two elections cant be compared in that context.
Chomsky only claims laws were broken in the scenario that he is speculating on. His allegation are easily disproved.
So youre not making a claim of rigging or fraud? Yet, you believe there was an injustice done in the election process?
First, lets look at Chomskys allegation. Fast forward to :30. pause. He says "immediately after the elections... the Interior Ministry sealed the ballot boxes and took them wherever...where they then came out with a figure..." Its unclear what Chomsky is trying claim. Because ballot boxes are sealed BEFORE elections to make sure they are empty and not stuffed with ballots. You dont seal the boxes after. So I have come up with 2 possible explanations of what Chomsky is alleging. I'll explain next
Secondly, lets cover the two possible interpretations of Chomsky allegation. 1) He is saying that after the votes were tallied, the Guardian Council ignored the ballots and came up with their own numbers. Or 2) After the ballots were checked for being empty, the Guardian Council took ballot boxes to secret locations instead of to polling stations. Then fake ballots were stuffed in secret locations and added to the final total. Either case can be dispelled. I will explain next.
Thirdly, lets talk about voting observers. The elections had 46,000 ballot boxes. Mousavi had 40,000 observers (89%), more than any other candidate. The observers monitored the vote tallies. They stayed as late as 6 a.m. the following morning. They signed off recognizing the count of the ballot boxes. The vote totals were then imputed in the computer system. Its possible to check each districts vote totals. Not ONE observer has cited a discrepency between their count and the official count.
If Chomsky is correct, and the cast ballots were taken to be counted in private, then I should imagine most would would consider that to be an injustice to democracy. Also, with regards to the 'election process' injustices were certainly commited. As we speak, Irans third 'show trial', if you will, is underway. Not to mention the numerous beatings, shootings etc to happen after the count.
democracy is flawed. Much of government dealings are usually classified, so how can a population that has to think about things like how can i provide for my family, make informed decisions? The answer is they can't. The masses have unreasonable demands, so representatives that can't meet these demands sell there votes to help them deal with poverty when they are voted out of office and back on the streets.
This (the outcome) is a part of the electoral process. I believe the 'Western world' is indeed spinning the story to put Ahmadinejad out of place, but, I believe the election could have possibly been rigged, until proven otherwise. Unfortunatly the media has spinned its web of lies so we will probably never really know.
as an iranian who closely follows the fainful events inside the country and as a big fan of Noam I really delighted that what he said was the fairest anod most objective description to my mind of how the so-called election was like.
Mob rule is what democracy can risk degenerating into. It is the vice of democracy. But it is not mob rule in and of itself. You are correct, however. The US is officially a Federal Republic, not a Democracy, but it is a democratic Republic, as opposed to an oligarchic republic or an aristocratic republic or what have you. The republican framework prescribed by the Constitution was established to prevent the power of the people, the democracy, from degenerating into mob rule.
how do you know? how have you come to these conclusions? maybe its america's extremely effective use of the media to mislead and control you. I'm absolutely sure there have been many journalist secretly killed for attempting to report certain things. WAKE UP
"I'm absolutely sure there have been many journalist secretly killed for attempting to report certain things." I love when people are 'absolutely certain' and then present zero i mean ZERO evidence. give me some names of suspicious journalist deaths. give me sources. give me SOMETHING. I have not 1 but 2 close relatives who are pretty well known journalists. give me info n i promise to pass it on.
2-mohsen rezai, chief of the revolutionary guards ,the military wing of the regime's that is in power by rule of fear and terror.
3-mossavi iran's prime minister, during whose time, the infamous mass murder of some 6000 political prisonersin a period of 5 months ,in 1986 took place.and finally, ahmadinejad himself who need no introduction, yes the guy who wants to whipe israel off the map.
I don't think in US ,an unelected body of Priests ,decides who should stand as a candidate for the presidency.and after finding their desirable candidates (whose credentials are judged according to their "services" to the Islamic republic)
The credentials of the four candidates were as follows:! mulla Karoobi-the chief of the notorious Evin prison at teh begining of the so called islamic revolution, responsible for murdering enormous number of people, including many women .
Supposing this vid is not a fake, then I suggest NC should go and live in Iran.the mullahs will pay him well for his services.
He is giving an interview about IRAN'S election, and NOT a comparison of Iran US elections.I don't think in US the police ( in Iran's case the plain cloth thugs of the regime) would shot and demonstrator(over 300in the recent demo) ,or beat them to death.I don't think in US imprisoning or torture to death is a common event.
when joe 6-pack or a Palin supporter reiterates the MSM BS on iran, you can concluded hes misinformed.
But when a gatekeeper like Chomsky, Goodman or RP mentions the IRan elections without mentionning the american poll that gave Amadinejas 2 to 1 lead, or the colored revolution or the National Endowment for Democracy, or the introduction of BBC farsi, you can conclude hes a disinfo shill
Seven lawyers in Tabriz and Mashhad who had been representing young Iranians detained in post-presidential election protests have been killed by the Iranian authorities in recent days, according to sources in Iran.
Their deaths have deterred other lawyers from taking detainees' cases, they added.
do not agree with Israeli policy toward the Palestinians, but Arab regimes use anti-Israel sentiment to postpone moving toward democracy.
Alaa Al Aswany
Still, with refreshing diversity, The Economist cites Mona Eltahawy, a New York-based Egyptian pundit, who explains that Israel is "the opium of the Arabs."
"Resistance" to Israel's existence, she implies, provides Arabs with a convenient excuse for putting off political and economic development.
Chomsky is no charlatan, he never speaks without being able to recall from memory three or four sources verifying the statements made, he speaks unbiased, informed and always logical truth. If you do not believe me watch some of his speeches on google videos and look up some of the things he talks about. He never claims to be for or against any religious or pollitical group, only for human rights, decency and common sense. If only everyone were as logical and perceptive as chomsky.
Chomsky and Juan Cole are entirely wrong about this ... "the ballot boxes were sealed and taken somewhere else for counting" ... that is totally incorrect. There were 47,000 polling stations with 14 election monitors per polling station; to whit, at minimum 12 election monitors had to sign off on the counted vote tallies and then the boxes were sealed. The lie being promoted is viral meme generation and propaganda and may be likened to 'Manufacturing Dissent' ... You should correct this.
We're more of a corporatacracy than we're a democracy. Since we're run by the mighty dollar, it only makes sense that the corporate entities would eventually swallow up our government. In addition, junk science is created to protect the interests of the corporate entities. Democracy fights it, but simply cannot win when the airwaves are corporate owned. The military corporate entities are the same way. They're all in it to protect themeselves. We're a nation of corporate entities, not people.
The mistake we make is in assuming our country is democratic, fair, and can properly represent the world. That's the mistake we make time and time again. We're so arrogant about our ideals and values that we assume everyone else has them. This is not true, and is why we do not have a clear picture of world opinion. This is why we can think in our heads that everyone agrees with us, when in fact they don't.
Also... anyone who says iranian government is a hatred filled rotting theocratic military junta is a racist. In many ways, america is also a very militant country - our military budget exceeds most other countries combined. Without our military might, there'd be more democracy in this world. With our military we become a more dominant, authoritarian force, that doesn't represent the world fairly and leads to conflict.
A two party system doesn't open our politics up to the full complexity of hte world. Just having one president represent us over a 4 to 8 year period doesn't represent american fairly. Obama doesn't represent our country. An independent would do a better job of representing our country, but politics prevents that from happening. We need to be open to the world in all its complexity. Our political system needs to be more flexible and less vulnerable to the mighty dollar.
Lol. America is not a democracy. Saying that our political systme is somehow fair isn't right. It's governed by the might dollar. Special interests have so deeply injected themselves into governemnt that you can't have a fair discourse. We only have two parties that can be elected, two. Did you see how much scorn there was for independents and "radicals" in the parties themselves? People want democracy, but we don't have a democracy. As someone else said, we have a constitutional republic.
It bothers me when people, even ones who are free thinkers, say the USA is a democracy. That mindset actually started in the 1930s, with educational and political propaganda to citizens who wouldn't know better. Democracy has actually failed various times in ancient history (The Constitution of Athens, by Aristotle). Now when any one of you reading this sees the double speak "we are a democracy" used by Obama, you know what he means. ;)
I'd disagree and say that Chomsky absolutely represents America. He may not represent your views and what America means to you but he definitely represents what our founding fathers were setting forth when writing the Constitution.
It's my belief that history has been slowly rewritten and by rewritten I mean pieces of history have been either omitted or slanted to portray a much more colorful picture. If you want to know all the truth you must rethink the past and present.
What the fuck? Chomsky is nothing like the founding fathers. He's an anarcho-syndicalist, a libertarian socialist. His conception of an ideal society is diametric to the social and economic organization the founding fathers contrived. Chomsky criticizes the constitution as an "aristocratic document" since it stipulates the right to private property, and disagrees with the prevailing idea of democracy as defined by John Jay: those who own the country should govern the country.
I only wish Chomsky was a representation of the U.S., but that's far from the truth. Chomsky actually criticizes the ideas and actions of the founding fathers such as Adam Smith. That's actually not difficult to find.
America should clean up their own election process before criticizing and proclaiming that the Iranian elections were rigged just because they dont like the guy that won in Iran
Americas elections run exactly the same way, lets not forget the election of 2000 when Bush and the media stole the election for the repubs. Lets get one thing straight though, the repubs and the dems are the same party, they just have different logos to fool the people into thinking their vote counts for something.
I am 23 years old student of masters of law from Tehran.I want to point out a few things:
1.The circle of power is so tight that even Mousavi the prime minster in 80s is can not enter it now.
2.The media either are solely run by state like TV and radio or are hugely restricted.
3.There is a scene you can not see:The jails of Iran are not comparable at all with Guantanamo bay,it is really a human disaster occurring in our jails.

i use to respect him , he opened my eyes to many problems in the international system , but i think his dogmatic obsession with "western decadence " is preventing him to have a clear understanding of the world politics today , sadly as he goes older he becomes more and more repetitive and stubborn, unable to explain the complexities of the world politics . He is losing his once intellectual supremacy , this is what dogma can do either to a religious fundamentalist or a social scientist

Zackerybob 1 year ago 7
@Zackerybob No I am not patriotic really. I think that people just want to try to take over other people and control other people. These countries that Chomsky seems to support would do the same to the US if they could. It is easy for Chomsky to make all these moral judgements against the US when he lives here and benefits from it. Example, $3.00 gal gas in US. Other places could be $10.00 gal gas. Why does he expect a government to be nice? get real!!!
emetds 1 year ago
@emetds We are all supposed to be career critics of power structures, and the most relevant targets are institutions in your own country. That is your job too.
I've seen Chomsky be quite critical of the Iranian regime; a consistent false accusation that is made against him is that he supports other states - this accusation does not stand up to proper examination.
inflivia 1 year ago 9
@emetds It is not wether gas cost 3 or 10 dollars a gallon but that the role of the government (any government) is to manage the country and not to own it. Wouldn't be nice if people could benefit from the natural resources of the country that supposedly belongs to them?
annuitcoeptis2008 1 year ago
@annuitcoeptis2008 Well if you want the government to step into private business and then control various companies, that is a big debate. Actually that is what is happening now with Obama. Government controls many large companies through the bail bill. Such as car companies. The natural resources don't neccasarly belong to the US people. More like individual or companies. Why do you want the government to own everything? Why do you trust the government?
emetds 1 year ago
@emetds you dont make any sense. I said the opposite of what you think I said.
annuitcoeptis2008 1 year ago
@annuitcoeptis2008 "Wouldn't be nice if people could benefit from the natural resources of the country that supposedly belongs to them?" How do the natural resources belong to you? People buy oil wells and natural gas deposits. The government doesn't actually own Exxon. It is private. Are you saying you want the government to "nationalize" the resources so the profits goes to the government and therefor to you the citizen and tax payer?
emetds 1 year ago
@emetds I don't know where you live but in the United States taxing people on their income is illegal. Most people don't bother to read the constitution where it is stated that your income is your private property. There are various groups in the US trying to end that illegal activity. I don't know how informed you are regarding the Federal Reserve, the World Bank and The IMF but judging from your response it seems you don't even know how a country belongs to you. Sorry wo(man).
annuitcoeptis2008 1 year ago
@annuitcoeptis2008 I know all about that. Yes your income is private property and yes the federal reserve can tax it, because they are taxing the federal reserve note, the US dollar says federal reserve note on it. In 1913 the feds were created and we received a SS# and your name is used as company or corporate name. This is called a "strawman". We have two IDs, the US citizen and the financial ID. If you drop your "strawman" ID then you can't have a bank account. etc.
emetds 1 year ago
@emetds actually the federal reserve does not tax. Sorry but I do not want to waste my time with you. Stop sending me messages. Thank you.
annuitcoeptis2008 1 year ago
@annuitcoeptis2008 So we are like a company with a company name that is separate from the companies owner. The owner follows the constitution and the company ID, Federal reserve, ss#, "strawman" is like our company name and ID. So that is how the Feds say they have a right to have an income tax and still follow the constitution. Do you get it? RIght or wrong almost every industrial country with credit does this.

Many Orange supporters are rightly disillusioned with Timoshenko while ordinary Ukrainians are beginning to see the election as being a choice between two rival Mafia groupings who will exploit them just the same rather than anything else.

Iran 'must stop youth executions'
By Steven Eke
BBC News
A US-based human rights organisation has called on Iran to end the execution of juvenile offenders.
Homosexuality is illegal in almost all Muslim countries, and punishable by death in many of them.
But gay and human rights groups say Iran's record is particularly shocking, having executed possibly thousands of gay men since the Islamic revolution.

TheLegitHeel 2 years ago
you cant fake 11 million votes? where did you et this fiigure? How are you so sure the elections were not rigged? do you work in the interier ministry? I believe Chomsky over a 'youtuber'
UniteResistRevolt 2 years ago
To UniteResistRevolt: Ahmadinejad won over Mousavi by 11 million votes. Chomsky does not make any authoritative claim of fraud. He vascillates. He is not even sure. What suprises me is Chomsky typically uses emiprical evidence before making claims. If you are serious about persuing dialogue with me, Id be happy to tell you in detail how the elections were good. But if this is going to work, you need to make a specific claim(s) of how it was fraudulent. Then I'll be happy to respond.
TheLegitHeel 2 years ago
If you look over my comment I dont actually claim the election was rigged so I need not make 'specific claims of how it was fraudulent'. However, I will speculate. If the United States can ''purge'' 5,220,576 votes (Palast, Armed Madhouse, pg. 359) then Iran can do it. Also, Chomsky does make one claim, that they broke their own laws whilst counting the ballot. I believe there was an injustice done.
UniteResistRevolt 2 years ago
To UniteResistRevolt: The U.S. can purge votes because they use electronic ballot casting. No paper trail. The Iranian elections used all paper ballots that were handwritten and fingerprinted. The two elections cant be compared in that context.
Chomsky only claims laws were broken in the scenario that he is speculating on. His allegation are easily disproved.
So youre not making a claim of rigging or fraud? Yet, you believe there was an injustice done in the election process?
TheLegitHeel 2 years ago
If the allegations are easily disproved, pleae, enlighten me. As for the paper trails, it could be even easier to 'purge' votes.
UniteResistRevolt 2 years ago
First, lets look at Chomskys allegation. Fast forward to :30. pause. He says "immediately after the elections... the Interior Ministry sealed the ballot boxes and took them wherever...where they then came out with a figure..." Its unclear what Chomsky is trying claim. Because ballot boxes are sealed BEFORE elections to make sure they are empty and not stuffed with ballots. You dont seal the boxes after. So I have come up with 2 possible explanations of what Chomsky is alleging. I'll explain next
TheLegitHeel 2 years ago
Secondly, lets cover the two possible interpretations of Chomsky allegation. 1) He is saying that after the votes were tallied, the Guardian Council ignored the ballots and came up with their own numbers. Or 2) After the ballots were checked for being empty, the Guardian Council took ballot boxes to secret locations instead of to polling stations. Then fake ballots were stuffed in secret locations and added to the final total. Either case can be dispelled. I will explain next.
TheLegitHeel 2 years ago 2

UniteResistRevolt 2 years ago
I am talking about injustices in the election process. The aftermath is a seperate issue.
TheLegitHeel 2 years ago
democracy is flawed.
VikingNinjitsu 2 years ago
This (the outcome) is a part of the electoral process. I believe the 'Western world' is indeed spinning the story to put Ahmadinejad out of place, but, I believe the election could have possibly been rigged, until proven otherwise. Unfortunatly the media has spinned its web of lies so we will probably never really know.

Iran reportedly kills seven lawyers
Aug. 6, 2009
Sabina Amidi
Seven lawyers in Tabriz and Mashhad who had been representing young Iranians detained in post-presidential election protests have been killed by the Iranian authorities in recent days, according to sources in Iran.
Their deaths have deterred other lawyers from taking detainees' cases, they added.

"according to sources in Iran"
That settles it, its according to sources, it must be true.
Sources? what sources?
an 'Operation Mass Appeal' shill for BBC Farsi?
John McciaFront from the National Endowment for Democracy?
Achmed Liealot?
Of course no one cries about lack of democracy in US puppet states like Saudi Arabia, which makes the crocodile tears about Iran almost believable

do not agree with Israeli policy toward the Palestinians, but Arab regimes use anti-Israel sentiment to postpone moving toward democracy.

Chomsky charlatan y mercenario proislamico
TremendoGallo 2 years ago
Chomsky is no charlatan, he never speaks without being able to recall from memory three or four sources verifying the statements made, he speaks unbiased, informed and always logical truth. If you do not believe me watch some of his speeches on google videos and look up some of the things he talks about. He never claims to be for or against any religious or pollitical group, only for human rights, decency and common sense. If only everyone were as logical and perceptive as chomsky.

bobsandwich98 2 years ago

Also the ruling law in business is to eliminate your competition, not produce more of it - this is in opposiiton to the basic tenants of democracy.
gukonni 2 years ago 5
The mistake we make is in assuming our country is democratic, fair, and can properly represent the world. That's the mistake we make time and time again. We're so arrogant about our ideals and values that we assume everyone else has them. This is not true, and is why we do not have a clear picture of world opinion. This is why we can think in our heads that everyone agrees with us, when in fact they don't.
gukonni 2 years ago 4
Also... anyone who says iranian government is a hatred filled rotting theocratic military junta is a racist. In many ways, america is also a very militant country - our military budget exceeds most other countries combined. Without our military might, there'd be more democracy in this world. With our military we become a more dominant, authoritarian force, that doesn't represent the world fairly and leads to conflict.
gukonni 2 years ago 2
A two party system doesn't open our politics up to the full complexity of hte world. Just having one president represent us over a 4 to 8 year period doesn't represent american fairly. Obama doesn't represent our country. An independent would do a better job of representing our country, but politics prevents that from happening. We need to be open to the world in all its complexity. Our political system needs to be more flexible and less vulnerable to the mighty dollar.
gukonni 2 years ago 3
Amen.
CorkyBuchik 2 years ago
As someone else said, we have a constitutional republic.

so are you saying be a "free thinker" and "consistently criticizes his own country" is bad? Please elaborate. I don't understand.
Also for the record, the USA isn't a democracy, we are a constitutional republic. There is a BIG difference.
Sorry, don't mean to come across as a smart ass.......;)
cmcphee 2 years ago
It bothers me when people, even ones who are free thinkers, say the USA is a democracy. That mindset actually started in the 1930s, with educational and political propaganda to citizens who wouldn't know better. Democracy has actually failed various times in ancient history (The Constitution of Athens, by Aristotle). Now when any one of you reading this sees the double speak "we are a democracy" used by Obama, you know what he means. ;)
Scythe704 2 years ago
I'd disagree and say that Chomsky absolutely represents America. He may not represent your views and what America means to you but he definitely represents what our founding fathers were setting forth when writing the Constitution.
It's my belief that history has been slowly rewritten and by rewritten I mean pieces of history have been either omitted or slanted to portray a much more colorful picture. If you want to know all the truth you must rethink the past and present.
passenger9411 2 years ago
What the fuck? Chomsky is nothing like the founding fathers. He's an anarcho-syndicalist, a libertarian socialist. His conception of an ideal society is diametric to the social and economic organization the founding fathers contrived. Chomsky criticizes the constitution as an "aristocratic document" since it stipulates the right to private property, and disagrees with the prevailing idea of democracy as defined by John Jay: those who own the country should govern the country.
Please explain..
mdoob11 2 years ago 6

What you need to realize is that the green revolution has already won. Perhaps not today, but the movement has become an idea for change.
Recruit other young people. Recruit young basiji.
Deprive the regime of their money. Point out their propaganda.
People are NOT stupid. The current regime is corrupt. This will become their ultimate downfall.
Noone believes the disguise of religion anymore, because they are greedy, and Khamenei's son Mojtaba Khamenei wants to become the new dictator.

All the people of world:
Support us in our battle for freedom
