@agulekyoh you know, that could simply be it. she just doesn't look like the mom type to me. She just seems like that would be unimportant to her. the whole family scene. She seems a bit of a loner, a wonderful eccentric who wouldn't get any pleasure out of stopping to do the family thing. Do u know what i mean? lol. @tretastellar i think he is a journalist now... but hopefully we will hear more about his music career in the future. Beautiful mother, beautiful son, what else can I say? And hopefully he has also that wonderful gentle character as Bjork.
Bjork and Einar Orn (from the Sugarcubes) made a great looking kid. Can't imagine what it's like to have Bjork as a mom, must be the coolest mom in the world. Wonder what Sindri's dad is up to these days?
Bjork was born on November 21st, 1965 and his son, Sindri was born on June 8th, 1986.. Bjork gave birth to Sindri when she was only 20-year-old (almost 21 actually)..
Wow how old is Bjork?!? A son that old?!? How weird would that be to have her as a mother.... I literally can't even imagine it. No moms are that cool.
@yourbestfriend6492 Sindri Eldon was born in the 80s. Bjork actually has two children at this point. I think Sindri was born during her Sugarcube era? He must be somewhere in his 20s by now. I think he is a writer and plays in a band in his spare time.
Son: Sindri, born 8th June 1986 at 2:50pm. (The name Sindri means: 'when two hot irons meet', but also stands for 'sparkle around the sun'. His full name is Sindri Eldon Þorsson. The father was Þór Eldon, the guitarist in The Sugarcubes.)

If music was only about making "cute" little sounds than music would be very boring and more for the dull minded. Sorry I'm not as one dimensional as you aspire to be.
wow your obviously ignorant to music that has a menacing signature sound. You may not like intensity in any music but I bet you happen to like a few action flicks without knowing why. Naive at best if you think this requires no talent simply because it's too harsh than what your conditioned to like. Broaden your perspective and develop varied taste. Music is for expression in every degree, not just to look cute for the tame at heart.
I didn't mention an artist being cute. I was describing music in terms of expression. I meant music isn't all suppose to be cute for dull minded people that can't see what is good and unique about every kind of music. Your last comment is an example of are who to be ignorantly conditioned to be against music with intensity. And again I bet you like action films but adrenaline fuled music is something you cannot appreciate because you can't comprehend what is good about it in expressing emotion.
Your not the first person to sum up an entire style of music in ignorant bias fashion such as "this sucks" and unfortunately you won't be the last but your entitled to your opinion. But why do you think Bjork is so creative? Because while she has a preference in music she is not closemined and trys to implement variation in her work. Poplewith a limited scope on music have no real understanding of where everything stands equally.
I like how many idiots that only listen to B101 agree wih you. People are taught not to like harsh music and scathing forms of exprssion through sound yet action/thriller/horror movies and intense theme parks are welcomed. Hypociritical at best. Minds conditioned to reduce the level of expression they can take in. Sorry but Bjork doesn'tr offer everything musically in terms of feeling. Listen to her son and grow to appreciate variation.
lol if you had actual form. If there is structure than it's fine. But some noise music is ok but I prefer well thought out compostions whether intense or melodic. Bjork is great but there is no such thing as the perfect music. Music has limitations as too what feel it can give off. Even Bjork herself has limitations If you can only listen to Sade like music than your missing out and will never understand Sindri's words in the video. It's a shame but maybe even many Bjork fans are as naive
harshness in sound isn't a indicator that form is lacking. There is music I don't like much but I don't denie that it takes skill. Too compare music and decide one is really "better" is personal bias at best. Most people that sum up stuff like that do not understand what is great about the next genre. I haven't heard much of this to know about it but I'm not a fan of what I'm hearing but I give everything a chance. I like vaired stuff that offer different features.
imo this shdn't be classified as music. u'll eventually grow out of liking it. everyone realizes how appalling it is at some point. i'm nt doubting that this must be extremely fun to play. afterall, they are expressing anger, & their teenage struggles. but i can't agree that it requires talent of any type. there's barely any discipline in it. and most of it sounds exactly the same. i can understand ppl liking it but as something else other than music. we can call it ranting with instruments
Fionas apple music is all basically ranting with instruments. And not all heavy music tends to be about immature subject matter like simple teen issues. All and any kind of music just about thas the very serous to the most simple minded thinkers. The loose form is hardly a basis to say it isn't music. Lokk at bands like Dillinger Escape Plan, or Meshugga. They are very tecnical and well disciplined, yet the format of the music is spastic and intense.
We maybe saw a few seconds of what they do, so I wouldn't judge so naively. Chances are this band experiments with different sounds and styles. What you accept as being music, is due to conditioning to a particular sound. From what little I heard in the vid, I see some melody. The sound is scathing, but that is hardly an indication that there is a lack of ability or understanding of music.
Some hate the sound of Death Metal, but the complexity of death metal music doesn't dissolve because someone has an low opinion for that particular sound. Some foolishly believe all harsh vocal styles require no real stamina, or capability to produce such a sound. This is typical ideal thinking held by many because the sound isn't made to be "cute" enough for those use to what is typically regarded as innocent in sound, fear unapologetic subject matter, or darker moods.
"imo this shdn't be classified as music. u'll eventually grow out of liking it. everyone realizes how appalling it is at some point"
I don't follow the childish fad of listening to only one kind of music.
I listen to all kinds of music, and understand what fits where in terms of expression. Music shouldn't just be the ideal of what conditioned minds consider to be cute. Life isn't always cute, why should music be? Why would I go from understanding to grow into a naive snobish type?
i admit i'm not as death metal literate as i would have wanted to be. but i've really tried. i just can't fathom how a person screaming at the top of his lungs & ppl behind him banging on their instruments can be considered complex in any way. I'd like to be able to do that every once in a while but in the privacy of my room for fun maybe.
i don't find that banding and screaming leaves and room for the attention that composers usually pay to details
in more sophisticated musical compositions, every note would be accounted for. and i'm aware that that's not exactly possible as bands nowadays don't have the time or talent to do so. but i'd at least like to think that they've created something special.
i've very recently tried checking out death metal bands on youtube & they all sounded so alike to the point where you could barely tell which song's which.
they all spoke of death, blood, hate or pain (as their titles showed. you could barely decipher wt the "vocalist" was saying). The point is that there's a way to express all this anger in a way that's less...physical? a composition does not have to be "harsh" for it to express anger. although it IS one way of doing it. but it takes away so much of the fun of having to interpret the music, lyrics..etc.
it would be great if you could recommend good metal bands. maybe i'm listening to the wrong stuff.
i've checked out "dillinger escape plan" and i admit i had no idea that ppl consider that to be metal. i would have categorized that as rock. i actually liked some of their songs :D
Well yeah they are considered to be a metal variant, but they tend to experiment with their sound. I don't really recommend you listen to something that caustic to start with, but thats your call. As for Death Metal though, I guess Necrophagist is pretty good to start with. But sorry most of the meanings are the usual blood and gore clique, so I can't help you with that style of music.
Yes the typical lyrical content becomes annoying to me at times. never meant that the song's sound must be harsh to express anger, but the point is there is a degree in heavier music that takes it up a notch beyond maybe the anger you might find in a old opera. Somethings are better expressed through varied ways. Why shouldn't the music's content identify with the feel closely at times. There is a sense of panic in that music you can't get quite the same from another.
Yes that happens often. There are bands that intergrate more influences finto their death metal, such as world music. Ang their are what is considered progressive or technical Death, but often that stuff is even harder to follow. It basically takes time. I'm not big on that music do to the dumb subject matter too often, but I'll listen to it from time to time. It really takes a while to hear the difference between more than half of that stuff. If you don't like it, don't force it.
I don't balme you, I felt the same before. Perhaps not everything is for everyone. It's not always a matter of maturity, but I guess what better connects with some. But with that said regarding harsh noisey music, you aren't totally wrong. there are bands that literally are focused on creating pure noise like Wolf's Eyes, which are basically just that. But often even the harshest of sounding music still is based on melody, composition. Most of the time it's less noticeable.
My classical guitar teacher was actually really into heavy and dark metal because of it's technicality so I can't agree here even if I don't know shit about counterpoint and stuff. Her word will do for me XD
i wouldn't be able to discuss guitar in particular as i'm not familiar with classical guitar music. Classical music such as chopin, beethoven, rachmaninoff, scriabin, ravel never used guitars in their music. but had they substituted one of the other instruments with a guitar, the end product would have probably been much more sophisticated.
If you ever stumble into a concerto or a symphony of any of the previously mentioned composers you'll understand my point.

I like vaired stuff that offer different features.

imo this shdn't be classified as music. u'll eventually grow out of liking it. everyone realizes how appalling it is at some point. i'm nt doubting that this must be extremely fun to play. afterall, they are expressing anger, & their teenage struggles. but i can't agree that it requires talent of any type. there's barely any discipline in it. and most of it sounds exactly the same. i can understand ppl liking it but as something else other than music. we can call it ranting with instruments
fionasapple 2 years ago

I'd like to be able to do that every once in a while but in the privacy of my room for fun maybe.
i don't find that banding and screaming leaves and room for the attention that composers usually pay to details

in more sophisticated musical compositions, every note would be accounted for. and i'm aware that that's not exactly possible as bands nowadays don't have the time or talent to do so. but i'd at least like to think that they've created something special.
i've very recently tried checking out death metal bands on youtube & they all sounded so alike to the point where you could barely tell which song's which.
fionasapple 2 years ago
they all spoke of death, blood, hate or pain (as their titles showed. you could barely decipher wt the "vocalist" was saying).

Her word will do for me XD
pinkshrimp 2 years ago
i wouldn't be able to discuss guitar in particular as i'm not familiar with classical guitar music. Classical music such as chopin, beethoven, rachmaninoff, scriabin, ravel never used guitars in their music. but had they substituted one of the other instruments with a guitar, the end product would have probably been much more sophisticated.
If you ever stumble into a concerto or a symphony of any of the previously mentioned composers you'll understand my point.

and unlike heavy metal & similar genres, these composers displayed all types of emotions in their composition. From extreme anger to supreme ecstasy.
However, it is unfair to compare classical composers to rock/metal musicians in terms of composition complexity etc...
