I developed the swing fan in 1984. It was used for baseball and they made one for golf with a plastic shaft. I cut off the plastic shaft and epoxied a golf shaft. The length is a problem. Stronger players can use a longer shaft. Sounds like you have the strength, start with a 29 inch bat and put a golf grip the same as on your driver. Carl Welty
I will cut it down as it now is 34" long and put a golf grip on it as you recommend. I'm strong enough but it does feel a bit clumsy in my hands. Thank you for responding so quickly to my post. Take care.
I have a swing fan on a softball bat that I used in the past. I have been swinging it in preparation for the coming 2011 golf season. It is longer, heavier and does not have a golf grip on it. Can I cut it down or should I not be using it for golf and get the shorter and lighter Power swing fan? Thanks.
Hi Cheryl, This is Carl Welty. Make sure your new power swing fan has the same grip as your other clubs. But before you change the grip make sure that you can swing the fan. If it feels too hard to swing you need to cut off one inch and then put the new grip on. Google: Carl Welty for my email. I will be glad to answer questions. Carl Welty
Thanks Carl for the quick feedback and advice. I'm swinging the fan ok so will be sure to put the same grip on. I am amazed at how quickly my swing speed changed when going back to a regular club. Club feels extremely light after using the fan. It is freezing here in NJ but I cant wait to get out and see the results of my swing.
After swing the " Fan " the clubhead will feel very light. You then need to swing your club until you can feel the head. I have a student Bill Britton at Trump National. He won the National PGA Seniors in 2009. I think you can go over there for a lesson and hit balls indoors. The fan is great for working on ideas indoors but not to go from the fan to the club. Makes the club feel too light. Carl
