r.i.p.overweight lover heavy d.he just performed on the hip hop awards last month goes to show u that u can be here and gone just like that life is too short i grew up on his music
Much Much Love to Heavy D in his Family. I pray that Allah bless him and you for the mercy he gave us as a TRUE ARTIST. I'm a 80's child. Rakim, Krs 1, Heavy D, and EMPD was my FAVORITES. MY mother even Bought the Albums.
I really miss Heavy D, he took Rap Music to the next level. I remember watching his videos from the 80s. All of the Rap Artist today should thank Heavy D for help making Rap Music Mainstream Music. I do not listen to much rap music today, because most of it is crap. But Heavy D along with Public Enemy, the Sugar Hill Gang and Run DMC and LL Cool J made Rap Music.. I also must include Kurtis Blow and the Fat Boys too.
I think Rap music needs to return to its roots, because Gangster Rap is having a negative effect on people, and does nothing to make one feel good about themselves. Kid N Play used to make Rap music fun without saying the N-Word or the B-Word. I really miss those days.
@StevenC32 You ain't never lied. Most rappers today only rap about the same things, shooting someone, women, cars, money, and drugs. It gets old after a while.
@StevenC32 okay HeavyD made an impact. And he gave millions of people a feelgood moment. But now I am sticking up for the multi-talents that STILL are working on and behind the scene of HipHop!!! HipHop didnt die with HeavyD I am sorry what about J-Dilla MethodMan Tupac and so many others that passed. I know its sad D died at a to young of age. but He still was mainstream. Alot of the underground HipHop and Rap is lost on some of you b/c U dont look at those still carrying the original msg.
@StevenC32 You think I amtalking about 50cts lilwayne and the like... You're right thats crap. But enough artist who spread their messsage and using the craft of Rap. Rap was an artform, artists who showed of their masterity over words with flow and rhyme! Thats what Rap is and its sad you never explored and heard the artist that are around spreading the message. You sir, are ignorant.
