nice things about rotaries is they CANT blow up, only the apex seals, so just get some made in carbon fiber, or some other indestructable material and you got a million mile engine, NA anyways cant say what will happen with turbos these days
@ORIANA250 yes brilliant put a straight 6 in an FC3S... Right now none turbo my car runs at 225 with 18psi I can pull upwards of 450 and still sound like a pissed off can of hornets. You piston people are so pushy, like the Christians of the racing world!
18 psi would give u 450 hp of unreliable power, unless u went to a 3 rotor and now u have now fuel mileage, u can do it to a 2 rotor but u have to take precautions not blow your apex seals. plus I like torq.
not saying I don't like rotary's, they are just not for me.
I don't know what motor u have but the turbo motors didn't even have 225 stock boost pressure
@ORIANA250 I blew the original 150hp motor and replaced it with a Turbo II 4port 'block' it was then bridge ported and had enlarged injectors put into the primary and secondary injectors. I have 3mm 2 piece ceramic Apex seals and all the housings and rotors are either new or re-machined, currently I only have 27,000 miles on the build. Last dyno I did put me at 225 none turbo with simply horrible mpg lol.
@logicalbomb this is y I went with the 2j mpg's are pretty good even modded to hell and the engine is very strong with no mods, but if a person builds a rotary right they can be very fast and they do sound cool. props to u for building what u like.
@Gin132456 yea i am just getting the fine tuning done on it, i have to daily it for a bit to break in the motor and then heavy tuning will come later. Kyle said if i run 14-15 pounds on my motor i will easily make 380hp to the wheels. im happy with that hahaha
@DanRotary lol ok? Thats just on the safe side for right now, 14 pounds making 380 is pretty fast for a rx7, and the turbo goes up to 35 pounds :D but im dailying it for right now to beak it in.

I've got an 86 n/a sport with a bonz straight pipe and rotary power dual exhaust and I shoot flames just fine :P And my engine runs strong with 160k under the hood nothing wrong with a little fire and smoke for a rotary. The piston guys just wish they could do it with out flame kits LOL! ;)
Why the hell people think car`s about to break down when it spits flames from the exhaust?? In that case I know dozens of nissans which are going to blow up soon, few opels and this RX7. I mean, don`t you people know anything?? Do you guys think that (for all the rednecks) nascars are going to blow up? How about those V8 dragsters? Top Fuels? JGTC? DTM? Oh my fucking god, I think even my nissan is going to blow up in a minute.
That doesn't seem very healthy... it's no wonder why those rotaries blow out so quickly... That's okay though, that means a lot of nearly free donor cars for V8 swaps :-) I mean, I have driven and like the turbo IIs, but I dig my Ford 351W transplant in my FC for it's wide powerband and reliability.

No its not only turbo rotary. Its natural for any rotary engine to emit flames from the exhaust when running excessive rpms

sorry there schmuckypoo but its perfectly normal behavior for a rotary to blow some flame with an aftermarket exhaust (sometimes with a stock one)
they don't have reliability probs if they are taken proper care of (i have had 3 rx-7 all went well past 200k miles, and all of them were modified)
