well you may not know that the "vacuum cleaner" sound was a trademark of early kottke's music ,exactly 40 yrs ago,and was great innovation and fun, this tune is great, tho the cell phone recording is poor, check a better clip around here and ...well,shuttupp,whatelse? LoL , jokin' man
In 2006 Leo was 61! I am now 52 and empathize with growing older. The sound on this is very bad and I would guess it would sound vastly improved and like it was better playing if it was recorded decently. Music allows us to progress within our physical abilities throughout our lives and change is ok. He loves to play and people still listen. And "My Feet Are Smiling" was no slouch by the way. :)
Leo had to modify his playing style at one point because tendon inflammation in his wrist was threatening to end his playing altogether. So, while his intensity may be different than 30 years ago...thank goodness he is still performing. He is a treasure that you should see, in person, at least once!
He ain't still got it, he ain't suppose to have it. This version is wonderful, but lacks the intensity, the joy of a young man. There are things we do when we are young that we can never repeat. Everything else is but a shadow. Checkout the post from tmjcbs for the proof. Leo, god bless him, has never really surpassed Armadillo. To do so would be all but impossible. Orson Welles never bettered Citizen Kane either.
This is a fun song to play...Leo is da man! I have a better live version posted...like you have never seen! Check it out and let me know what you think.
This is so cool, I was at this show at Trinity and had an excellent seat at Leo's feet. It was a once in a lifetime front row view. Thanks for posting it, I forgive the quality because I know where you were sitting. I've got tons of stills of this, but no video. Hey, I think I know you ...
Excellent! Thanks so much! In one sense, the low fidelity also was nice, because it brought me back full circle to the late 60s when I first listened to this album copied on a bum cassette player with about the same fidelity. Thanks for posting!
I had no idea he still toured. Must catch him! At least your guilt was small(missing the taping gift)! I thought he was retired! The ol mudlarker! peace
Not at all, just saying that what you said was a good point but doesn't apply to me is all. Sorry to have worded it wrong but i did write it at 5:45 in the morning
i went! i was near the middle next to some american dude.

what you mean exactly?

How about putting up recording of a vacuum cleaner sucking on a harmonica next time. You'd get about the same effect.
Awful

Amazing. I can't believe he still has it! I'm going to try to go to another one of his concerts this year, and I'm really looking forward to it.

10/6/2006 ??? What this show hasn't happened yet? You can see into the future???? or did you just get the date wrong?
RUNRUT 5 years ago
Yes and yes
chukcanuk 5 years ago
Most Europeans and the American Military would read that as June 6, 2006, and therefore wouldn't see it as a date in future.
siliconmeadow 5 years ago
Yeah well I'm not European or in the Military and since it was changed, i take it chukcanuk isn't either.
RUNRUT 5 years ago
Just thought I was helping, and sorry if it didn't. I meant to say June 10th by the way.
Does starting the comment with "Yeah well..." mean I've annoyed you?
