If you look carefully at the racquets you will see that unlike squash racquets they have no shafts. That is because they are racketball rackets. Also the ball is blue and twice as big as a squash ball, although that is difficult to see. What you can see is that it comes off the front wall faster than a squash ball and bounces higher.
I am from the USA and I went to Spain a couple of years ago. I played this version of the game there. When I got home I had to order slow speed racketballs from Australia. They also play this version of Racketball. The balls I have are blue. I compared the ball to a US racquetball and they are about the same size. You are saying that the ball you are playing with is larger than a US racquetball?
Wow! You play so well! Im a little younger so im in the junior division and i play one bounce. I have a question. You know when a player lifts their racket up before the ralley (when your server) why?
Hi, thanks for the compliment. It's good to try to get your backswing organised early as it then makes your stroke less hurried. On receiving serve you more or less guess in advance whether you will be playing forehand or backhand so you can take the backswing before your opponent serves.
They are called Dunlop Raquetball Balls - tube of three £8.50. I don't know if you can get them in the states. They are liviler than UK squash balls but deader than US raquetball balls.
Thanks for comment. There is a red line 19 inches up the front wall that you have to hit the ball above. This is UK racketball and that rule makes it harder to kill the ball at the front. The 19 inch line is there for UK squash - the game is played on a UK squash court.
There aren't any racquetball courts in the UK as far as I know - so this is as close as we get to the USA version. I play a lot of squash, but this version of racquetball is - as you say - a good workout. Its also rejuvenating - you get longer rallies than at squash - or rallies as long as you got at squash 20 years younger.
there is an english version of Racquetball which is played on a squash court called Racketball - look it up. And there are racquetball courts in the UK if you can get access to one of the US Airforce bases. We go to RAF Lakenheath to play our racquetball
I should know there is an English version of racketball as that is me playing it in the video - hence there is no need for me to look it up. I stand corrected on the existence of US courts in the UK.
o rite i didn't actually know that was racketball u were playing as i have never seen it played before, i just knew of it. Are the rackets and balls the same as racquetball??
Hi. The rackets are the same but the ball is a bit larger and less lively than the US ball (from what I remember playing in the US in 1984). Also the roof is not part of the court - unlike the UK version. You might find this game fun to play with members of a UK squash club - meet each other half way.
Thanks for comment. There is a "tin" (like a net) at the front that makes you hit the ball 19 inches up or you loose the point. This means you can't hit shots so low as in American racketball - so there is less payoff to going for low shots. It makes the rallies longer - more of an endurance game.
That is racquetball being played in a squash court.

Is it being played in a squash court or is that a racquetball court in England? In America that court is a squash court.

this is squash asshole

Thanks for the charmingly-expressed but ill-informed comment. Squash is different - have a look at a game of squash sometime.

Its Racketball you cock!!

Eh, that court seems far too small.
You don't even get a good work out while playing.
cursive123 3 years ago
The game usually gets decided by who gets exhausted first, so the losing player usually gets a work out close to their maximum

The Australian version is very much the same game...the only difference is that a player serves in front of the short line. good video.

The guy in yellow was the 2006 over-55 national champion. He was a semi finalist in 2007 national championships.
Peter2008now 3 years ago
What level/grade would this be if you did not play in a age division.

The ball is 2.25 inches (5.7cms) in diameter - I haven't played American racketball since 1984 so wouldn't be sure.

This is squash not racquetball.

Hi- thanks for your comment. Its actually Uk racketball, played on a squash court with racketball rackets and a UK racketball ball.

WTF? Racquetball played on a squash court....looks like the rallies last a long time, good work out but why not just play squash?
