Whoa whoa whoa, goodbye horses by Q Lazzarus is playing at the end. I've love Gareth and have watched this video many times, I officially love both even more now!
I'm completely unfamiliar with the workings of the fashion industry: How exactly do designers like Pugh get the funds to produce designs like these? I get the idea that he doesn't exactly make a lot of profit from these "conceptual" designs, as oppose to the more commercial or wearable pieces.
he won the ANDAM award in 2008 which comes with a big money price aswell
and then i would think that rick owens helps him out too plus some silent partners
the ones you see in this show he has edited them down to make them more wearable for the shops
so the ones you see in the shops are not in the runway show alot of the times they are being "remixed" with more sotfter and wearable fabrics plus they come in all black or all white aswell not just black/white two colors
ditto all that. i think i saw this dress 2:35 at seven in new york without the sleeves and neck and in a charcoal grey...store staff said there were only two in the world and beyonce had the other
@metallicrebel at catwallk shows it's just an axmple of what the buyer can have. At haute coture shows clients can pick and choose which bits of the outfits to keep, making every outfit unique to person to person. So Yer you might love the dress that gareth creates, but you dont have to have all the ruffles of the neck brace if you dont want it :) x
anti fashion is fashion if you consider this anti fashion. i studied at central st martin's and i have worked for louise goldin and alexander mcqueen and yes this style of dress is more appealing to people who have a strong interest in fashion because they understand what it about and enjoy the fellings that come from dressing up and how clothing can be used to envoke and emotion, which is just not there in every day life.
the fun has gone out of fashionas soon as it leaves the runway. you should be able to wear this on the street if you like it but it's our stupid society, which is so conformist and homgenised that any one that is novel or unique is considered a freak.
well, if you've seen the stuff that he actually sells, it's extremely commercial. But I agree, people should be able to dress however they like without being judged, just like the Japanese.
I heard Beyonce was wearing Thierry Mugler in her latest vid, no? I'm glad this guy is being commercialized bc he seems talented. Just hope he doesn't lose his edge...me likey!
he also maintains a standard of uncertainty in his work, apart from the colours, nobody knows what pugh will create - what shapes he will incorperate, what fabrics he will minipulate and what darish objects he will pass of as wearable clothes!
wow! i am not a gareth pugh fan at all...but this was quite interesting! i loved these pieces, and he finally put some wearble garments on the runway..(not extremly amazing, but they were nice to see, especially from him)...the vents, the construction, very good! i actually liked this alot, we'll see if his next collections dissapoint like all the others, LOL
you may be right.... but i was meant that though mcqueen is totally crazy about fashin, but gareth pugh is the follower. I have seen the reflect of D&G Jewellary and mcqueen style in gareth pugh. Gareth Pugh is a young charming guy....
McQueen has always carried a certain romanticism about his designs, but there is none to be had here. McQueen would represent the Avant Garde in a wearable fashion, but Pugh has no desire to make a wearable impact, because no consumer will clamour over a black and white jumpsuit with folded paper towels round the neck.
your right but your wrong. "you fashion people", what do you mean by that, people who design, people who wear or people who enjoy? Every designer is an artist, just some are more commercial than others. Gareth Pugh is commercial, he just has interesting show pieces, like Galliano.
ya you're right....... McQueen is always new in two times in every year. He's awesome. Pugh is the new entry. But let's see what happened next. Obviously he will do something new if he want to retain his name in the list of fashion designers.
FOLLOWING his hugely successful Paris Fashion Week debut in September, Gareth Pugh is about to up his fashion ante once again - with his first menswear collection.
Known for his imaginatively dramatic designs, the collection will be showcased as part of the upcoming Paris menswear shows in January and is scheduled to take place on Sunday 25 at the Palais de Tokyo
I first found out about him through seeing his work on tour costumes for Kylie Minogue's 2005 Showgirl tour and he also designed did some stuff for her latest tour and album promo. He's such a talented person and I love how architectural his designs are!
Cool editorially (as always) but he needs to be more practical if he really wants to survive within the next decade. He'll probably go the McQueen route.
He doesn't try to make his clothes wearable. Just how it comes to him, wearable or not. lol if fashion wasn't so expensive, I'd love to see everybody in this!

because. an artist does not create art for the consumer.
he/she creates art as a form of expression.
gareth pugh makes full throttle art.
wich should be admired
these other designers you metion are not artist. just your buisness profit oriented creators
you fashion people are brainwashed and have it so misconsccrewwedd.

I would love to see a collaboration collection between Rick Owens, Gareth Pugh and Hussein Chalayan. Even if it were just one full outfit!
There would be a lot of genius, crazy ideas, and maybe a touch of ego in the studio that day but the end result would be totally worth it.
