My kids are what keep me from doing something really stupid. Thank God for them! I believe He put them in my life -partly, for that! Great videos! Thank you SO much!
Thanx for this video.I'm a bipolar II stay at home Dad. On lithium but the illness has seeped through lately, getting professional support. I have found ways to explain to my 3 year old daughter, about my mood. She is very active so has difficulty understanding why I can't focus on her all the time. She is our only child. What I find works is telling her "Daddy is feeling fast today so i can't play at one thing for long"or "I'm slow today so haven't got as much energy".It works for us.
Twins are a challenge on anyone . A baby is a strain on anyone . My kids were 16 months apart , born Air Force brats . Great job and thanks for helping others .
Thanks so much for making this video. I suffer from BP too and I always think how it would be having kids and if my attitude would shift around them and how I would act :/ My friend suffers from BP and sad to say she treats her kids bad, she dont physically abuse them but she just dont pay attention to them and she talks bad to them.
@AnxietyChick That's too bad to hear. I think that people can be bad parents regardless of whether or not they have a mental illness...there are plenty of them out there!
@calligraphish Nope, never gotten them mixed up. Although they are identical they do look different to me, and their personalities are totally different too. They could never fool me! :P
when i first became ill my children were two and four... i was hallucinating my ass off so it goes without saying i was little help to my wife... Cheryl pulled it together and managed to care for all of our needs without missing step... i thank the universe that she had the will to manage that tough situation... i love her with all my heart.
@IChoseTheRedPill That's great that you had such a supportive person in your life at such a difficult time. I think it definately makes a huge difference when you have a support system versus when you are going through it alone. I think that was a big thing that pushed me into my manic state that sent me to the hospital - my husband was deployed and I was dealing with a lot of parenting issues alone and it was extremely hard. Like I said in the vid though I had my dad and he helped me through.

Did having bipolar affect your decision to have kids since it is genetic?

@crAckZ111 Not really, since I wasn't diagnosed at the time I didn't really think about it at all.

@myheartis2u That's definitely something to get under control before having kids. Violence toward kids is never ok.

Do you have to take any tranquiliser pills to help you fall asleep at night?
dellid 7 months ago
@dellid Nope, I don't take anything like that.
BipolarStateofBeing 7 months ago
How many hours do you normally sleep at night? Do you wake up feeling drousy when you wake up?
dellid 7 months ago
@dellid I'd say I sleep anywhere from 9-12 hours a night. I sleep a lot at night, I am always tired!
