OMG, I can't watch this anymore. I hate the way this guy drives. Why is he trying to late-apex every corner,..and in the rain no less. Is he late-apex-ing, or is he just lazy with his turn in. And his lines make me want to spit.
@Poler777 It gives him a better exit from corner for next corner...he's a prof. driver...he obviously knows what he's doing...his lap time proves it... and who are you to claim how he should drive? a) you've never been to nurburgring b) you've never driven on a race track c) you have little or probably no driving experience at all... typical youtube racer....

And his crazy lines show that I'm right that it's too risky. It must not be his car. In your first post you defend his driving, then you say that it's not his driving, it's the camera angle. So do you still defend his driving style, or was it just the camera?? Your defense is confused.

It's not the fault of "the camera angle". His "need" to late apex on a slick track makes him both SLOWER and a more DANGEROUS driver. When I do trackdays, I drive my OWN car. I stay away from "real racers" like him.

I mean, he's not only editor-in-chief for Sport Auto (German sports car magazine) but also part time race driver and has taken part in the Nürburgring 24 hours for both the Porsche and the Aston Martin factory teams and has finished top ten more than once, for example in a stock GT3 RS in 2010, against full-on race cars.

@kpbrigade Wie offensichtlich es nach dieser Fragestellung ist das du kein Plan hast, allein schon direkt am Anfang 0:10 ein klenier Schlänker, hat definitiv Zeit gekostet. Viel Zeit geht hier nirgends verloren, die Masse der Kleinigkeiten machts was du natürlich auch nich weist. wie ich schon schrieb, er fährt sehr gut nur wenn er etwas weniger aggressiv fahren würde, wär am ende die ein oder andere Sekunde noch rauszuholen. Dafür brauch man kein Fachman zu sein um sowas zu sehn ^^

M3 hin oder her: eins der interessantesten Videos zum Lernen, wie man die Nordschleife schnell fährt. zB der Adenauerforst: schön knapp gefahren, schön sparsam,und schnell. Oder die Anfahrt zum kleinen Karussell. Eine Linie, die ich so noch nicht kannte, aber als seeehr effektiv empfinde. Ein unaufgeregte Video, das von einem offensichtlich sehr schnellen Profi stammt. Werde es öfters studieren! ;)))

Ich bin zwar kein profi rennfahrer , aber typ da am steuer hat entweder keine ahnung vom "Sportlichen" fahren oder die Hose voll. So eine schlafmütze hab ich ja lange nicht gesehen.
Keine Ahnung was dein Maßstab ist, aber das hier ist um Welten schneller gefahren als das Ringtaxi. Das Ringtaxi fährt auf Show und Sicherheit, er hier ist wirklich schnell! Am Ringtaxi bleibst problemlos mit einem 330Ci drann, hier wäre das sicher nicht machbar gewesen.....
Ganz einfach weils im e9x kein SMG mehr gibt. Jetzt gibts DKG. Funktioniert für den Fahrer zwar fast gleich ist aber technisch völlig unterschiedlich.
I think, this is Horst von Saurma...and if he is, he's been multiple Recordholder with different Cars on this track. He's one of the fastest drivers you can imagine on the Nordschleife!
Having torque doesn't mean that it wouldn't be faster with shorter gears for circuit stuff like this. Even in the fast parts he barely hits 5th let alone 6th. I wouldn't be surprised if the CSL is going to have shorter gearing, although it's heigher power, lower weight and faster cornering would somewhat reduce the need.
Uhm, you are denying it is a circuit? Apart from stability which is very important here, as on any circuit cornering speed and acceleration are crucial to minimize your lap time. Having too long gears will reduce your acceleration and thus increasing your laptime.

I'm not saying he's not fast, he just takes so many risks that I wouldn't want to take a ride with him.

Also, since it's german it has a long last gear for fuel efficiency while boming along on the autobahn...
