  • ..wrong, because he is very anti-american and IS a parasite!

  • I loved the Amboy Dukes when I was a kid... living in Detroit... I saw them at Wayne State football field... took the bus all the way there and back. Too bad Ted's such an asshole these days. This rocked!!!

  • @miguelwc Ted's an asshole these days? Why, because he loves America and he doesn't want to give it away to the parasites?

  • good good good yeah.......................

  • the jacket the lead singer has on!!! anyone know what thats called?!?!?! i really really wanna know so plz answer!! :'O

  • Ted's the man. Love the guy.

  • The original album still kicks butt. Here, they don't quite find the groove, but they don't suck, either. Nugent can play, no doubt about it.

  • Nice to see Ted with a real guit instead of the faggy PRS shit-Gibsons Ted...for you theres nothing else-you look normal again...get with it.

  • HAHAHA fuck poitucs.... check out them licks.. mercy

  • Musta been an off nite for Ted. This is'nt what usually happens when he plays this song. He's way off.

  • is the original ac/dc or ted????

  • @xXALETSXx The original is by the bluesman Big Joe Williams back in '35.

  • @xXALETSXx big joe wrote this song, but ted stole this version of this song note for note from van morrison and them.

  • ... I HAVE A LOW SPOT IN MY YARD TO PUT THE CLOWNS IN.....TED ROCKS!!!

  • People are afraid of a hard, alpha male American...usually the people who got their asses beat when they were kids....they can't relate to what Nugent stands for today....fuck the politics of the past....what Nugent does now for the troops is worth 10 times what he could have done in Vietnam and a cook or supply guy...

I don't see anyone crucifying Muhammed Ali, Bill Clinton is forgiven all past transgressions by ya'll and he fucked up his whole career...get a grip nancies

  • This is REAL rock & roll !

  • Why TED NUGENT, and even the AMBOY DUKES are not in the ROCK N ROLL hall of fame is a friggin crime, Their probably afraid to put TED in because he will melt the fuckin place when he gets to jam, It is a crime .

  • @MrWolf243 LOtsa crime about that Hall of Fame. It's the same reason the academy awards are a joke. No worry, they'll all get in soon enough...real rock is on the rocks.

  • @MrWolf243 Well said Wolf...lol

  • Why TED NUGENT, and even the AMBOY DUKES are not in the ROCK N ROLL hall of fame is a friggin crime, Their probably afraid to put TED in because he will melt the fuckin place when he gets to jam, It is a crime it is a freaking crime.

  • It was good to see John Drake again. When him and Ted Played the Mummp @Northland all summer of 67(give or take a year)I was there. This was before thier albums. It was too bad the band broke up.I remember thier outside concerts, one @ a mall by 14 and I-75,the other in front of the Det. library(I think it was a library)on Woodward. Those were the days.

  • Tedly, my old good friend! Whack-Master doing his thang! Eddie van Halen touted Ted as his guitar idol. And TN can play "creemier" than Clapton! DMA clip Steve!

  • TED O FILE couldn't hold Eric Claptons jockstrap.

  • @Mi37591 you probably would though and probably something else.

  • @Mi37591 Clapton is muppet with his unplugged versions of "Layla"....while Nugent is still kicking ass...

  • Ted Nugent deserves all his fame & fortune. What a hard working talented MF he IS !

You can't take this away from this man!!!!

  • Fuck yes Fucking ted fucking Nugent. What a badass. This is what you call a libertarian American.

  • wow everyone is so angry....... too funny...Ted is near 60..and still rips his guitar...I mean rips it.....period...end of story

  • @rockncleve I think hes past 60 look at Sammy Hagar these two guys still tear it up Sammy just turned 63

  • nice feedback!

  • The Motercity Madman still rocks!

  • These cats are someone grand dads! AND ROCKING!!!!!!!!!

  • i know that john drake didnt look or sound as good as he did back in the day, but look at his face at 0:34. as soon as he heard that first lick, u can tell that for a brief moment , he looks like he did when he first performed this song with the boys

  • Who believed at the Detroit Music Award 2009 still with "Journey to the centre of the mind" the Amboy Dukes would have crossed the zenith, that is taught at the latest with this performance from "Baby please don't go" of a better. This rocks and rolls only in such a way that it is a pure joy. LET'S ROCK from Germany!!

  • no-one makes a hollow body scream like Teddly.

  • I remember when Ted used to boast that He was the fastest Guitar on the Planet. I must have seen Him in concert 10-15 times between 1974 and 1979 down in Texas and He never let Us down. Always a super high energy show. I learned a lot of great lead guitar chops listening to Uncle Ted in My youth.

  • Uncle Ted kicks major ASS.

  • Ted simply doesn't play well with others. Not a sign of a good musician.

  • HA HA Its so funny how the "liberals" are so intolerant of views other than their own.

ROCK ON and eat a deer-steak!!!!

  • I have always been a Ted Nugent fan since I heard him live in 1970. I play jazz now and I still dig Ted and the Dukes. He is certifiably insane now but I still like his music. He is a great guitar player and the early Amboy Dukes stuff was creative and unique.

  • Nuge is a Total Hypocrite. his work with the Dukes glorified drug use, now he' claims he never did Drugs. He also never Grew as a Guitarist, still churning out the same stuff from 40+ years ago. That folks think he's a genius now only shows the lack of current musical knowledge . You want to hear a Great Guitarist, listen to some Robert Fripp, and Be Amazed !!

  • @TwinPeakin You Idiot. The late 60's and through the 70's was all about sex, drugs and rock and roll. At that time it was the Amboy Dukes...not just Ted Nugent.

  • @TwinPeakin LOOK AT TEDS LICKS WITH THE DUKES AND THEN WATCH THE REUNION VIDEO....THIS ONE....YOU KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING- TO SAY THAT HE HAS NOT GOTTEN BETTER OVER THE YEARS....AND ADDED MORE TO HIS SUPERB PLAYING SKILLS!!! I AM A PLAYER...AND I AM A FAN OF HIS TALENT.. TED WAS 19 WHEN HE WAS THE DUKES...ARE YOU KIDDING.?..HE IS NOW 60...HE IS NOT A HYPOCRITE..AT LEAST HE STANDS UP FOR WHAT HE BELIEVES IN...IF YOU DON'T LIKE HIM FINE...BUT GIVE THE GUY HIS DUE!!!!

  • @TwinPeakin Some of us enjoy the knuckle dragging stuff. Do you think AC/DC would have enjoyed such a successful career if they did the Spinal Tap 'hope you enjoy our new direction' BS?? Sorry, but some of us aren't as progressive as you. I am going on 50 and just saw Ted this last Saturday. He still has the same passion and love for Rock and Roll he always did-and it is a GENUINE love of ROCK!! At 62 years old to boot. And judging from his attitude he doesn't care what ANYONE thinks!!

  • @TwinPeakin A tremendous fan of young 19 yr olds fripp and ted. ted far better. gotten much much better now . saw king crimson last year worst concert in many a year. the two drummmers were incrediblly loud and played the entire concert in unison!! Is this heavy leather? Fripp alsways a joker despite his parson like demeanor. drummers took a brief 'solo' ,a very sofly played duet on the cymbols they were they were first rate;never liked 'DIscipline>> CK zero emotion= zero music.

  • Can't hear teddy

  • This is the CADILLAC MAN FROM DETROIT!!!! You should have seen them LIVE at the Grande Ball Room in the good ole Daz. I was so lucky to have meet Ted in Flordia. And Back stage at the Grande. Face 2 face Ted is as real of a person as could even wish to meet. Music he gives 1,ooo% To TED all the way Man!!!!

  • Tell it like it is jonkman5! Chariotdrvr14 should look up the definition of those big words she is spouting out before she throws them around! Calling Ted Nugent a "fascist"?!?!?! If you know the least bit about either fascism or Nugent you will know they are polar opposites!

  • ted nugent !! the guy is a frickin maniac !! go ted !! frickin go man go !!! you'll live forever !!! as long as i can play a guitar, you'll frickin live forever !!!! and as long as there are guitar players, you'll forever be the frickin best !!!

  • I've sick of cretins like chariotdvr14 and their biased views. I'm a rock 'n roll Republican. It takes a lot more brains, guts, and maturity to realize you can love rock and not also automatically toe the Leftist Line. I thought the 60's and 70's were about freedom and revolution. Well, more freedom from government intrusion and lower taxes are a better fit than that "save the whales" shit

  • Why isn't Steve Farmer even trying to play his guitar? He's just kinda walking around, looking around, and shit.

  • Terrible Ted, the Motor City Madman, back with the Amboy Dukes. Doing that Big Joe Williams cover of Baby Please Don't Go!!!! AWESOME!!!!

  • RIP THAT BITCH UNCLE TED

  • Ted is one of the last great Americans that isn't afraid to speak his thoughts. You could learn many thing from Mr. Nugent

  • OMG is that really Farmer??

  • Too bad Ted is such a fascist moron... but man, that dude can wail on guitar!

  • Ted FUCKING Nugent!!! The reason I started playing.

  • Ted nugent Fuckin ROCKS!!!!!

  • I saw Ted in 1967. Changed my life. Guy's all over the stage, a real showman. It was then that I decided to play guitar for the next 48 years. I'm happier than most every one I know..because I did what I WANTED to do. Play guitar. Thanx Ted.

    Gary

  • FUCK YOU TED!!!!...why are you so fucking EPIC

  • Was Ted the guy who invented the riff that went parallel with the vocals?

  • C'mon Ted.. Play that sucker like you used to in the original version. Back then I could hear the guitar talking to me. It was happy to be out.

  • painful. jeez!

  • that was the sloppiest crap version i have ever heard

  • @nyazzip This band hasn't played together in almost 40 years, so yeah, it's gonna be a little loose...

  • great song written by Big Joe Williams

  • @steve89z

I love steak!! Just can't get enough of it.

  • Don't eat veggies or steak, just go right to the POOTANG.

  • Ted hasn't been missing many meals lately! Thank god he ain't wearin a loincloth!

  • Nuge couldn't play 'one' note if his life depended on it!!! Sounds like 10 minutes of Guitar Center to me.............

  • I guess all those sustained notes he played through most of the song don't qualify? It doesn't matter how melodic or tasty he plays...to some people if he does ANYTHING fast, he's just shredding. Musically ignorant.

  • OF COURSE, I except that you are musicially ignorant, and the NUGE playing a single note no matter what is as tasteless as the bottom of a shoe!!! PASS..............FAIL................glad you like it!!!!

  • That's a matter of personal opinion...not fact. Your opinions are worth no more than what's on the bottom of that shoe.

  • My response? You're a simple internet troll that has nothing better to do than to sit around on a computer and talk shit about things you don't like. Not worth another second of my time. Have a nice, pathetic life.

    Joyeux anniversaire Ted !

    Happy Birthday !!

    61 ans aujourd'hui (13 Decembre 2009)

  • great rockin' share thxxu and gooday !!!

baby please don't go ??.. I get to stay, lol~

  • louder ted....louder

  • well ted is good the singer sucks

  • conspiracies and flaming cant you just be happy that this song is amazing either way despite any possible backstories? the song sounds great guitar playing is amazing (could do without the keyboard) but the song in general between ted nugent and the amboy dukes is AMAZING

  • Ted gets it!

  • May be an arse, but you can't deny he's a great guitarist

  • LOL, you clowns make me fucking sick.

Go watch some 9/11 conspiracy videos. GTFO

  • Amboy Dukes break up was an inside job! Look at the videos, you can see the squibs going off! Bush refused to get them back together! Join the 1968 truth movement!

  • ROFL! Good one

  • u said it dude Nugent is God

  • I was there and you have to respect the Motor City Mad Man!!

  • I saw Ted in a 700 seater club in Malmö, Sweden last summer, he kicked total ass for nearly 3 hrs. Whether you like his political opinions or not ,go see him live, rock´n´roll guitar doesn`t get any better!!!

  • wow this is exc!

  • Like a fine wine .... Uncle Ted has indeed gotten better with age ..... go see him live and you too will testify! At 61 (this December), he wipes the floor with his so called contemporaries ......

  • @MissingMars Yes sir he sure does!

  • His political views aside he still is a good guitar player.

  • These clowns who say Ted sucks at guitar..LOL

I've been playing 30+ years and believe me his guitar work is a step above everyone else, always has been.

all you need to do is listen, set the politics aside assholes.

  • You know gtfoudbs. It is so sad how people move to the next decade and all of a sudden everything that is old sucks? Ted Nugent has influenced many people in the world of guitar playing. I beieve he can hold his own with anyone out there. Even at the age of Sixty! To me it all comes down to jealousy! Ted can jam that big hollow bodied Gibson Byrdland!

  • I've loved his guitar playing since I bought "Cat Scratch Fever" back when it came out. I've been watching a lot of him lately and he's even better than I thought.

Quite possibly the best pure rock and roll guitar player ever. Not too many players can plug a guitar straight into an amp and sound this good.

  • The guy is sixty. It is wild to hear him say who his influences were. I think you are right. He plugs in and says " Here it is raw and powerful!" He does not want keyboards in his music, so that is how it goes...:) I think Double Live Gonzo was one of the best live albums ever done.

  • Dig that my man. I'm 47 yrs. old and have been to alot of concerts through the years. I've seen Ted 4 times, 3 times alone and once with the Damn Yankees and I don't know if I've ever seen any better on a guitar live than Nugent. He rocks the house and shakes the building.

  • @gtfoudbs who gives a fuck what they say. Ted is one badass on and off the guitar. And considering how long he has been at it i would love 2 c anyone play as long as many of the 60's and 70's guitar Gods have been. Can anyone say Carpals??? lol

  • @gtfoudbs Couldn't agree more, i'm a pro-musician since 25 years, Ted was a great hero for me in my teens, picked up the old records some years ago sounded even better... have seen him live in Sweden twice the last years he's definitely the most vital of my 70's heroes God bless The Nuge!!!

  • @gtfoudbs thumbs up man...this motherfucker is AMAZING...and the best part about watching him play is ...hes having a BLAST...he loves what he does..and he shows it...oh yeah..he likes to hunt animals...SO WHAT???

  • @gtfoudbs Plus, Ted's a good enough guy to come play the Detroit Music Awards with a group of guys who couldn't be any further removed from fame, The Amboy Dukes...basically a one hit wonder who quickly fell into obscurity...

I don't know about you, but I don't see Justin Timberlake heading back to do an NSYNC reunion with those lackeys or David Byrne calling up the Talking Heads for a reunion...Nuge actually cares to take care of his old band mates. Shows character

  • @arvydas0069 One hit wonder?...4 fantastic records is what you call one hit wonder?...shit

  • frankguitar68 your a frickin lefty for sure and you just dont get rockin roll,, like half of the usa .. you a poor socialist bastard , you probably cant even tune a guitar,

  • i have been playing for 55 years you dont have a clue

  • that ted kicks ass

  • You suck! Ted Nugent is good, very good

  • Ritchie Kotzen if it is you must be high he's a fantastic guitarist.

  • What is this lineup ?

  • oh boy....this is awesome!!!! Ted really bad ass guitarist!! :):):)

  • too bad the bass is mixed so low.... love nooj, but the simple bassline totally drives this song.

  • Great job Dukes. You guys brought the house down. The crowd noise through the mics doesn't represent even a quarter of the noise in the theatre when you guys finished.

The sound in the house was better than the board mix. This was still great. Nice to see. Everyone was so humble, and it was nice to see Ted, showing off his old band mates. I wish these guys would tour.

  • Hey wtw88 what is your problem. It was great to see the original guys again and John Drake did a great job. It's typical of those with NO talent to attempt to sound relevant by cutting up those who have lot more talent than they do. If you saw the original band they all wore these kind of clothes, but, unfortunately you were probably in diapers. Look up early Amboy Dukes and then maybe your pee-brain will understand.

  • whats the singers story.......he looks pretty good for his age.....did he do anything in the 70s through the 90s?

  • He had a group called John Drake's Shakedown in the early 70's that was pretty good but never went anywhere.

  • get robert gellespie in there you fuckers he wrote the song

  • Wrong. Big Joe Williams recorded it first. It has become a blues standard though, I forgive your fuck up.

  • Ok, Nugnet's a prick & an asshole, but all that aside, was it not great to see the Amboy Dukes again???...and in high fucking defintion?????

Ok, I'm in 'wow' land!.........fuck the rest of ya!

  • You are 100 % right....John Sauter is a good friend of mine we live in the same town,he is a great guy and GREAT bassist..........I remember when John played with Nugent , it was not for long though ,Nugent was a prick to his band........wow it is a small world !!!!!!!!!!

  • i don't doubt that.

  • It is a FACT that Nugent hardly paid his band members shit, while he lived like a fat rat, RAT IS RIGHT,draft dodging child molesting dead beat dad WILL GET HIS IN THE END!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yes I know, selfish disgusting scumbag who should go to iraq and fight if he wants to kill.

  • Draft dodging, child molesting, disgusting ted.

  • i know pro war, pro violent usuage of guns... what a bell

  • the singer looks a right tit

  • That is the WORST jacket I've ever seen. Real Dame Edna Everage stuff. I wonder what his mum thought when he stole it out of the lingerie department.

  • Ted fuckin' rocks.

  • The more I do my fact checking, the more I find out where Nugent got his musical ideas from. I was listening to an old Rolling Stones video a while back and distinctly heard Rot Gut.

  • Thats the first time I heard this. Although I question whether there is much melody to Stranglehold, the riff is huge. Rob Grange was the bass player during the Stranglehold time period and Sauter didn't join till 4 albums later. Did Sauter jam in the same circles as Nugent in the 1974-75 era?

  • Not to mention Derek St. Holms has gone on record saying that Ted refused to record the song "Hey Baby" unless Derek gave him 50% writing credit (even though Derek wrote the whole thing). Who here was saying that Ted's such a lovely person? I thought all Ted fans knew he had 'issues'.

  • If you listen to some of Derek's solo records, you will come to recognize where Nugent picked up a few of his rhythm riffs. Derek, Rob, and Cliff would jam during sound checks waiting for Nugent to show up, and inevitably they would create something interesting. I heard a Derek play a song when he first joined Nugent's band called "Let it Rain".... several years later a tune called "Homebound" was strangely familar to my ears. Imagine that?

  • Yeah Steve Farmer!!

  • A guitar song and everyone slams Ted for playing solo's !! What a bunch of fucking dickhead's !! They sounded cool, and practiced once or twice at most !! Shut the fuck up !!

  • It was the first song off the first Amboy Dukes album, (pretty much copying Van Morrison and Them) and this was tribute to the Amboy Dukes Night, NOT TED F'Kn Nugent and his Backup Boyz Night. One solo, two maybe, three at the outside, but geez... da ya think he might actually "share" the stagetime? OH NO, not alpha male. But hey, its typical Nugent, ME ME ME... Its cool that the other guys got a little recognition, no doubt. Please dont tell me to shut up, it only encourages me.

  • i"m not telling you to shut up but what have these other guys done in the last 40 years.. i really want feed back

  • That's funny, I thought Baby Please Don't go was one of their signature tunes . Thanks for putting me straight JustPlainDB...not.

  • Baby Please Dont Go was recorded by Van Morrison with Them before the Amboy Dukes did it. Nugent copied the guitar solo note for note. Sorry if history has a nasty habitat of putting issues in perspective. Cheers.

  • BAD ASS!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey, I just found out that Ytube has a function where you can click to specific points in time during the video by putting in the minutes and seconds. So, here is the Nuge Fans version of this song. Just click in sequence. As nuge gets to the end of one solo, just click on the next link.

    0;00 1:37 2:33 3:08, 4:01 5:12

  • Opps, didnt work quite right.. lets try again.

    0:00, 1:37, 2:33, 3:08, 4:01, 5:12

  • man does ted suck ass. he is not capable of writing good songs anymore so he basically alpha males his way everywhere he goes. what a douchebag. it would do him some good to suffer some sort of ailment where he would have to relearn how to play for the song. total fuckin goon that guy...

  • Time to sell my rare uncirculated 1968-70 live amboy dukes tapes to show people what they really were like back in the day (looking for a reissue label). This was nice though.

  • I'd love to hear some late Steve Farmer shows (Marriage on the Rocks era).

  • got st louis 68 with john drake even but only 4 songs soundboard. The rest are right after rusty & steve got fired (but still great as a 4 piece) but complete shows.

  • "I have two keyboard players on stage. Fuckin' amazing!" Especially considering there are videos on youtube of him blowing keyboards to bits.

    Aweseme video.

  • We'll agree to disagree on this one. I have to points of note however.

    1. Obviously we were listening to a soundboard mix which emphasizes instruments that were low on the stage. Hence, Ted's little amp being louder in the soundboard mix somewhat.

    2. Ted' was gushing so much about the band members (prior to playing) that I though he was going to drop to his knees and Bl-w them. If that's know 'playing nice' I don't know what is. It was a guitar driven song for Christs sake.

  • Playing Ted style is not to be confused with 'not listening to the other players'. You can be going nuts and still be melodic, have soul and dynamics. Ted proves that every time he plays.

  • I beg to differ. If Nugent is so wrapped up in his own amazement over the notes he flurries about, and doesn't listen to the changes the rest of the band is putting down, this is just musical ego stroking, not music. You cannot be melodic if your riffs are not matching up with the chord changes. As for the soundboard mix excuse, I suppose that for the sake of argument, that Nugent had no control over his volume, but he sure had control of the number of times he stole the spotlight with a solo

  • JustPlainDB, every complaint you bring up has been unsubstantiated. Things like how Ted didn't show respect to the other guys, didn't listen to the changes, was overly upstaging etc, Those characteristics may be true with Ted on any given night, but this tape does not show that at all. Quite the contrary. John Drake had full command of the stage when singing (Ted stayed back), everybody got 'extra solos' compared to the studio version. Also, Teds improvs change from night to night.

  • Unsubstantiated? Really? Ok, lets substaniate. Nugent: first 72 seconds, then JD 26 secs, Nugent 38 secs, AS 18 secs, Nugent 5 secs, RL 27 secs with Nugent stepping in half way through, Nugent 35 MORE secs, JD 21 secs, Nugent 44 secs, JD 26 secs, Nugent 6 secs.

I count 7 Nugent spot lights, 3 for John Drake, 1 for Andy Solomon, 1for Rick Lober, and none for Bill White. And please don't lecture me about the studio version as Nugent left out the Jimi Hendrix quote from the original cut.

  • Oh, I completely forgot about Steve Farmer... geez.. my bad. And you are right, Ted's improv changes from night to night... right. You are a musician, you never play the same exact improv night for night either, I'll bet. Its nothing special to wank, we all can wank, its mindless noodling. Don't try to make Nugent out as some other worldly guitar player. Jeff Beck is other worldly, David Lindley and Ry Cooder, and even David Grissom. Ted reached his zenith in 1976 and stayed there.

  • Again, if you know you don't like Ted or his playing. Just admit it and shut the F-ck up already.

Ted is a virtuoso and his improves are melodic and soulful. I hear musician envy from you big time..Or, you aren't a rocker or both. Jeff Beck has been a snoozefest since 1976. A pleasant snoozefest, but still a snoozefest.

  • I actually enjoy some of Nugent's "back in the day" stuff. Virtuoso is such over-worked phrase, and it does not apply to Nugent. I can see from your opinion of Jeff Beck that you react better to Nugent's more visceral approach than the melodic or genius players. If you think Beck is a snoozefest, you really dont know that much about what it takes to play a guitar like he does. Oh, and your insult that I am not a rocker hurts, it really does. I thought we coulda been friends.

  • We both know the song was meant to be a guitar showcase. Now you are just showing yourself to be an ass. I think you are expressing 4 decades of disdain for Ted and projecting characteristics to the clip that don't exist. Maybe there's a pill for that bro. I hope you get better.

  • Hey Jake, dont get snippy, you were the one who said there was no substaniation. I substaniated on your request. Just trying to be accomodating for ya. Actually, its only a decade of disdain. Before that, I saw Nugent like you do. Then I got to know him personally. It shattered any myths for me that you might still believe. Calling me names or suggesting I need a pill is so beyond you.

  • I call it like I see it. ..Anyone (including you) can Kiss my A--. if they (or you) try to lecture me on what excellent guitar playing is or isn't!!!!

BTW I never had any myth that he was anything other than out to wail on every bodies heads. Sorry you thought otherwise for 30 years.

  • Can you recommend a few of the more rocking Little Feat CDs? I want to download them and catch up on what I've been missing. I wont expect it be rock like Amboy Dukes. I'll try to go with it's vibe and grove to it.

    Thanks.
