My Daddy was born in Chicago in 1918 and lived on Loomis as a youngster. Hopefully I will get a video response to this, as I was also at this "Showdown in Chicago."
These last 2 bailouts were the largest "transfer of wealth" from the middle class to the top 1% in the entire US History. They have enslaved us all, and I am outraged.
One out of six homeless are victims of foreclosure. Im blessed. Im just a renter but Ive got a warm home to sleep in. I shutter at what it must be like for these folks. The people who look down their noses at someone in that situation are self centered idiots. Somewhere in there is the root of the problem with rich people. No empathy for their fellow man. Their greed will cause their own destruction when poor people finally have had enough. Its just a matter of time before a class war is waged.
to anyone who blames the foreclosures on the homeowner;
Yes some are lazy and stupid but
BOTTOM LINE:
THE BANKS are the ones who gave the loans; If in their greed and lust for insane profits they lowered standards and broke rules to the point where if your dog could show an income (in dog biscuits) and could then get a loan, then it is their fault-yet WE are bailing the BANKERS out: THE SCAM OF THE CENTURY
actually, while i agree that goldman is evil (i.e. continuing large bonuses to retain the "brilliant minds" that got us into this mess in the first place), americans themselves are to blame for the subprime crisis. i believe that the only way to avoid another bubble is to not bailout anybody. its only through some pain (unfortunately) that people will learn to see economics in a new way and that a worse bubble wont be created for the future.
no no no, we can't have pain. no one is responsible for thier own actions, and we should all just blame the banks and trust the government. We should trade one form of robbery for another and call it progress...
The problem is nobodies holding the bankers to account for their irresponsible actions. Investors trust these bankers to vet their loans not splice them and conceal them so that nobody can figure out how they're ripping them off. That should and will be illegal. But I suppose you would just call that the FREEEE MARKET.
face it...it's all about greed from the bottom up and the top down. when we figure out how to get rid of the "greed gene", we may have a better chance at a brighter future.
A angry mob of communist who pushed for a got the 1977 community re-investment act which caused the housing crisis are now pushing for the same mess to happen all over again to bankrupt america.
Getting money from the private federal reserve for barley any interest and charging 5% min up 15 in some loans I have seen. What a country. If you want change you need to take back the federal reserve and stop giving bankers the power. Guess what you income tax pays the interest on you own money.
Where is Allan Grayson speaking out against the banks like he speaks out against the Republicans!?! Or is he a one-trick--pony, just in it for the quick fix? And Obama could have castrated these bankers. We need a President willing to fight, not compromise!
the banks will not change unless they are forced to. not one law has changed in the banking industry since the crash. they are spending millons lobbying congress to keep the status quo. it's time for the people to speak up everywhere. this problem affects everyone. home prices going down, 401 k destroyed, and people homeless. the only ones doing well are the bankers lining thier pockets with your blood and sweat.
what a waste of fucking energy.. do you actually think protesting is going to change the jewish bankers plan to destroy America?? They don't give 2 shits about your protesting...
no dumbass.. I expect people to fucking use their guns and start fucking killing the fucking bankers. the founding fathers would have done this long before it got of hand like it has now. this nation has been turned into a bunch of pussies that are afraid to shed blood to end the tyranny.
I wonder if that has anything to do with the government owning them, and the fact that a government can deficit spend to it's heart's desire with NO CONSEQUENCES, where as a private company would have to go bankrupt.
13% interest on a loan secured by land? In an environment of non-existent inflation? That's robbery, plain and simple. The banking industry has just got too big and powerful, so they're just sucking the life out of the economy...fuck'em!
Hehe, that's what I thought. But this is a local station, the local stations seem to be exempt from serving the overlords the way the main station does, kinda like their entertainment division.
Republican Senator John McCain, who is a total Internet illiterate, wants to LIMIT your internet access and allow your service provider to CHARGE YOU EXTRA to access the Web.
Oh yeah BTW, Republican Senator McCain is the #1 recipient of donations from Telecom companies. How could we guess?
The BIG Banks suck! So does the way people losing EVERYTHING yet are being treated so disposable by these greedy bastards! I feel so bad, I am in a predicament myself.
Stop the bail-outs fuck the BIG Banks!
I am NOT in favor at all of the bail-outs unless they BAIL-OUT the people, as is 'we the people' the poor and in need.
The Fiat money system continues to fail and politicians manage to convince the masses this is the fault of the free market. Guess what: WE DON'T HAVE A FREE MARKET. We haven't had one since 1913. And if groups like this think further regulation will fix it I recommend looking up the panic of 1819 and seeing how our idiotic, bloated, and pseudo-socialist government has been screwing with our economy for more than two centuries, managing to create the same problems, and creating more and more
One: In a true free market bailouts wouldn't happen, and if the government had any balls and told the banks they didn't have a safety net as well as stopped creating artificial credit i.e. screw with the natural interest rates financial crisis like this wouldn't happen nearly as often nor would they be anywhere near severe.
That being said, anyone who thinks Dick Durbin or the Democrats are the saviors of this country is delusional. Both parties created this mess, and he voted for TARP.
Wake Up, you piece of right-wing crap! Everybody knows it was the great free-market experiment that caused this. Same thing that brought down Iceland's economy, so stop trying to confuse people with your tired dogma. The banks bought the congress long before the bail-out. Why are you so dependent on the government having balls anyways? Isn't that against your philosophy? Your free-market castrated the government. Like you, it knows no ethics. You're not fooling anybody! Stay in Austria!
There's so much idiocy in that statement I don't know what to correct first. If the banks indeed bought congress, that's violating the free market because the government is supposed TO PLAY NO ROLE, IN THE MARKET, HENCE THE NAME, "FREEEEEEE" MARKET. Intervention on behalf of, or against, succeeds in violating this principle, just as answering yes or no to a question counts as answering a question. The free market can't create catastrophes this big, it takes the government's massive help.
Maybe you could explain these RULES OF THE FREEEEE MARKET to me? And why it wouldn't eventually end in monopolies with enough power to take over the government, or did you miss my point entirely while basking in your glorious intelligence? Blind faith in a human construct that you can't even clearly define - that's what causes catastrophe!
Your an idiot and have no concept of what a free market is. a free market is when government intervention is barred and all business' must compete to either survive or fail based on how much of the market they can win through production of services or goods. The industry doesn't end in monopolies because A: 99 percent of all monopolies in U.S. history have been formed through exclusive contracts granted by some type of government whether Federal or township or otherwise....
And B. You assume that Monopolies last in the long run apparently implying that technology, new ways of production, new methods of utilizing a workforce, or any other type of change will not allow a new company to win place in the market share. In other words, you assume the market becomes static, slow, and unimaginative, which sounds much more to like a government program than a company to me. Go take an economics class.
It seems to me that you need classes in psychology, political science, and history. Your version of this mythical free-market is as fanciful as a unicorn. They even made the game Monopoly so dumbasses like you might grasp the basic principles. Just to help you "get it", markets and business don't exist without government. You can't have a market without rules - no such entity. Monopolies stifle innovation and competition. That's why we have those anti-trust laws.
Markets and business don't exist without government? Does Liberty exist without government? Prosperity? Freedom. No, I suppose your right, none of those things are self-evident or god-given, all of them stem from government, and without government we wouldn't have any. To quote a line from star wars, how someone such as yourself could fall so far and learn nothing is truly incredible....
the trouble with the first round of bank bailouts was that the US Government who gave these sods the cash,"forgot" to put in writing just what the cash was meant to do!..the banks took the money and gave themselves massive pay hikes and "bonuses" and screwed every one else into the ground!
Why? Why do we continue to let this happen. It's not for lack of trying, I'm tired, I'm hurt. This is not the type of world which wants people with feelings. We will never win. They have won and we will be killed unless we decide to beat them to that. What moral person would want to co-exist with such callous hatred of other humans. I tried. It doesn't work. We are done.
It's my understanding that the US Treasury own these homes. Why does the banks have anything to do with this? Geithner should be making deals with these homeowners.
Madness. People can't afford to buy homes so who are the banks going to sell all of these repossessed houses too? They should work out a way to let people keep their homes. After all that woman's taxes have been spent by the government to prop up the banks that are now taking her home away from her. It's wrong!
My Daddy was born in Chicago in 1918 and lived on Loomis as a youngster. Hopefully I will get a video response to this, as I was also at this "Showdown in Chicago."
