Great Danes- rated "P" for PUPPIES!!

@LunatheMutt, I've had 2 Danes and never had a problem with their ears. You just need to take care of their ears properly. As for hematomas, the chances of that happening is very low. In the past, Danes had their ears cropped to avoid damage to them whilst hunting. Cropping ears is all about aesthetics. It is illegal in the EU. Only North America accepts cropped ears in the show ring.

We love and raise Blue's ourselves. It was a Dane that helped me over my fear of dogs, and taught me their potential for love. Now I can't sleep without one of our 185 lb babies in the bed.

Just lost my blue moon last Saturday..:( he was only 1 1/2 yrs old...I never will buy another breed of dogs..I have fallen in love with the Great Dane..My Poppa Luchi had a bad ticker..

I was at the Dog show in Atlanta this weekend at the Atlanta Expo center. I think I saw your dog there. I saw a Blue Moon soft crate. I saw your beautiful Dane in it. I live in Northeast Georgia and my friend happen to be with me that is really interested in a Dane. Do you know of anyone who has some Dane puppies available? I was down at the show the show myself to introduce myself to some of the other Saluki owners out there. I have a Saluki pup coming my way:)

AW. Blues are the only danes that l think look good without their ears cropped. It makes them always look like pups. Uncropped ears look bad on black and white danes

i have had alot of dogs growing up. but danes are so goofy strong funny happy laid back comical dogs. we have a huge merle he is 41 inches at the shoulder and he is so sweet.

Danes are the greatest dogs in the world. I've had two and both were the best dogs ever!

Cute puppies. I love their natural ears. If you get a Great Dane please don't crop their ears. It hurts the dog and there is no good reason to do it. It is cruel and is illegal in most countries. If you love Danes please think about their needs. I have had not 1 problem with my Danes ears.

@ribbitribbitfrog There are several reasons to crop ears. It is NOT just for cosmetic reasons. They are less prone to ear infections with cropped ears, and cropped ears will reduce the incidence of hematomas – a separation of the ears skin layers where blood collects after vigorous head shaking.
