Nice footage of Zenyatta; I see that this was uploaded in Dec. 2010, just a month after the Breeders Cup. You can see they're watching her carefully as she gets use to the surroundings, she still a little wired. Its a good thing though that she can't hear this horrifying song, it would probably finish her off!
One of the best videos ever....I wanted to say again how much I LOVE this....and thank you Sara.....and thank you for all the great photos.......and giving up your holiday ......YOU ROCK just like our one and only Queen Zenyatta.....Horse of Every Year and reigning 2010 Horse of the Year......
May you and Z's world be filled with all the joy, love, peace, health, wonder & miracles the Queen gave all of us....love to you SCampions and my Queen Z always~ Kari Bussell~ again Thank YOU!!!
I was watching Pardon the Interruption on ESPN yesterday and Michael Wilbon made a comment about wanting a ''Zenyatta burger''. i really can't stand that guy !
@RUSSADAMS53, Although it's very unlikely to happen now since it's already been decided that Zenyatta is going to bread to Bernardini. I can't believe Seth Hancock and John Shirreffs didn't seen the potential for racing that a Blame vs. Zenyatta re-match would've brought about after there war in the B.C. Classic. I guarantee you that a re-match race somewhere with both of them would've been one of the most highly anticipated, and most viewed races of all time.
C'mon. Zenyatta is nearly 7 years of age, shes the highest earning female racehorse of all time and has 2 BC wins under her belt. Are her fans never satisfied? The BC Classic happened, its history now. Its time for her to put away the saddle and head towards the breeding shed. Rachel Alexandra was bred to Curlin today, and us as fans still have something to look forward to when Zenyatta and Rachel's foals step out on the track.
I just realized the corner of my eye has a couple tears dripping from it. What an incredible gift she has been to racing fans. I hope she's adjusting well, I can't imagine her thoughts of being away from the racetrack. Thank you for sharing! What a magnificent horse she is!
She has this look on her face like she want's to say, "what am I doing in this cold ass Kentucky weather"? LOL. "What happened to my warm stall in southern-California"?
Stamp art, I really hope you like the snow Zenyatta. Is this the first time you have seen snow. I so hope you are happy there at you new home! I am glad you are still having movies made so we who LOVE you can be part of your life!
I worry about my hero, she's used to running, being trained, being in the spotlight, I worry about her......not that I understand horses, but I know what I had to do to keep my retired show dogs happy................my heart is with you my hero! Be well and be happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Zenyatta is going to miss her home and her lifestyle. She loves to run and it will be hard on her being away from racing. Since animals can't talk, people never know their inner thoughts. I'm sure Zenyatta wonders "what's going on here?" Her adjustment period will take some time, perhaps more time than most people think. My heart goes out to the grand mare.
@ksdemocrat9, I agree with you 110%. It's almost sad watching Zenyatta in the shot when she's in her stall, just standing there, staring out the window. Like she's totally wondering where in the hell she's at? You can just tell by the look on her face that she's still got that fire, and competitive spirit coursing through her veins. Like she's ready to hit the racetrack again tomorrow.
Thank you for posting this gorgeous video. Whether in the snow or on the track, Zenyatta's beauty is unparalled. This Southern California fan is one of many who misses her so much.
"That though the radiance which was once so bright be now forever taken from my sight. Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendor in the grass, glory in the flower. We will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind."
She looks like she enjoys dancing in the snow! I'm so glad to see that she's comfortable enough in her new home that she still gets the urge to dance!
I forgot to add....I love this song....again thank you for taking the time to do this for us. We all miss her and are so worried about how she is adjusting and this made me feel better. I trust you guys to take proper care of our Queen....Kentucky, my neighbor is the state where all horses are treated like royalty.
What a breathtaking vision of perfection The Queen is on the snow. I can't wait for her to be acclimated enough to be set free of a lead and run around that big paddock. Please whoever is doing this capture that on video and post it for us. Please tell my Queen I love her and hope to see her soon....and all I ask Santa for Christmas is for her to adjust to her new life and have a life full of joy and wonder looking at her new surroundings as the mere sight of her gives me...thanks for posting.
Thanks for the education. I was hoping they knew what they were doing...thank God. What a treasure to be responsible for. My apologies. I just own dogs...
Actually horses thrive in weather that we find cold. Heat is what is not good for them. She would be more uncomfortable if she sweated under a blanket on her walks and then had to go stand around. Also, it could be a safety issue in case she should accidently get loose on her walk. You wouldn't want the chance of a blanket slipping and causing panic. That is why they are walking her in a lip chain at this time. Better to be safe than sorry. They are doing a great job with her.
The most beautiful, talented racehorse to ever live. Looks like she is happy there, dancing in the snow. The best gift this holiday is that our queen is happy and healthy. And, even if she lost her last race, she went out of her career with a bang that will never be forgotten. Even in her loss, she made an even bigger name for herself with her stunning, beautiful, amazing late charge. We love you Z!
You sure are looking gorgeous Zenyatta! Looks like you are adjusting well and are very interested in your new surroundings. Bet you the snow feels a little different to you underfoot. Keep them all busy there at Lane's End!
My Love & Blessings to You Zenyatta! Be happy sweetie!
God, what an absolutely stunning, gorgeous creature. You can see that fire and spirit just exuding from her. She is going to be Boss Mare among her broodmare band. Stallion owners ought to be paying a fee to breed to HER!
That's our Zenny, strutin' her stuff in the snow! She probably remembers it from when she was a baby :-) We miss you hear in California, Z, but I'm happy that you are being taken good care of and appear to be very happy. {{HUGS}}} Judy G
The music is Zenyatta by Liza G. Fly, it is available on iTunes and her video is here on You Tube as well.
They CANNOT let her loose yet, she is too wired still from being in racing fitness for three years. The potential for disaster is too great. They must let her down from racing gradually. She is dancing and prancing because she wants to run but it is NOT SAFE.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL horse right there! I didn't realize how tall she actually is until the last part of this! Still... an absolutely gorgeous horse and she will make an excellent mommy. :) Go Zenyatta! You are loved by all! Especially me! <3
"dark stall"! Are you kidding?! That facility is incredible! I am sure that the people charged with Zenyattas care have her best interests in mind. Keep in mind that she is an athlete who is not used to living like a average horse. She has to be handled correctly so she can learn without hurting herself.
Dismayed that she is in a dark stall, and she clearly looks as though she wants out. I believe she should live in her 3 acre pasture 24/7. A thick blanket is sufficient to keep her warm in the cold weather since she is used to CA. They also need to toss those shoes if she is still wearing them too. Glad to see her though, and I hope the videos and pictures never wane- I want to be apart of everything she does until she takes her last breath.
@ArchDandy1134 I'm not sure what you think she should be doing is what is good for her, however. Happily, people who know how to prepare a racehorse for farm life and acclimate her to her new surroundings are in charge.
Liza G. Fly wrote and composed that original song to Zenyatta. Jerry Moss produced the video available of her singing it (which is on YouTube) and ITunes version of it which is available for sale. I'm just a fan of hers and of course Zenny....
Looks like she's exploring and taking in her surroundings. She will absolutely love it when the snow melts and she can get at the Kentucky Blue Grass! Can't wait until they feel it's safe to turn her out and let her explore on her own. That's a picture I would pay to see. Won't she look grand with her tail and main flying! I bet she will do some romping and stomping! I've read that it's actually good for horses and their leg conditioning to be able to run in a pasture. Go, Queen!
I hope she likes it there and that she's okay with not racing anymore. She's probably wondering what's going on. Please continue to give her the dark beer she likes so much once in a while. And, don't let her get fat!!
@allgodscreatures2010 ...ex-jockey Liza G. Fly wrote and sings it. I listen to it at very least 3 times a day and enjoy the range of emotions it puts me through each time...specially the tears of joy as it nears the end :)
