This song is inspiring, makes me feel strong and want to be a better person on this earth. I listen to this when I need comfort and strength and even proud of myself...Thank you Carly Hope to see you again soon Marcy
'95 was a turbulent year. They say you're most aware just before dying, I think this song is part of what stopped me. I don't see how else I could remember it so well. I heard it once or twice that year and never again. Feeling pretty lucky to be here.
Without a doubt my favorite Carly Simon song. This song took me through and helped me out of isolation and alcoholism. It speaks volumes for those in recovery. I thank you and I love you, Carly Simon. You are an angel.
There was a great movie with Susan Sanrandon and Sam Shephard, can't remember the title, but they thought their Marine son had been killed in an explosion, and this song was the closing theme, it played just as they found he had not been killed.
Oh Carly, This is So Beautiful, still today. My Bff wants this song at his funeral and I have promised to do so. Bless You, Love Phyllis & Chris. in N.C
This song is magical. I'm 14 and a guy and not afraid to say that. Its one of my favorites. Makes me cry every time for some reason. Its very powerful.
Believe it or not in an interview with Howard Stern in 1994 she said she wrote it for him. I think she was serious, actually. I think he, being the most ballsy person in the world, inspired her to be braver.
@B4inSF I completely agree with you. This song deserved much more. I'm afraid the reason is that she was 49 when she sang it. The industry of music is made for people no more than 25 years old.
Carly Simon is absolute genius and a National Treasure....and BTW, it WAS a blockbuster hit...some music just knocks people out.....that song By CS, is so good.....words fail us.
One of your very best, Carly. I found the lyrics especially poignant; having reached that point in my life (they should give out awards for women hitting 50 still sane). Why this wasn't a blockbuster hit just escapes me.
Amen...I just sent it to my cousin...I'm fighting to be me and just listening to this song inspires me, wish I had heard it long ago!!! Thanks to Carly!!!
@paleyoungman, yes, I've heard many times that she wrote this for her very dear friend Jackie Onassis. Even the lyrics (great books and the arts - the long ago masters) seem to go to Jackie's love and work that area.
What a song! One of the most powerful songs I've ever heard. Only Carly could have sung this. Love you, Carly.

1995....The song alone is a masterpiece.
They captured most of it's magic here.
It really should have been a #1 hit!
