  • As I read the comments below, it made me feel prouder to have served. It has allowed this with no concept the ability to express themselves. Thanks to all who have served to keep our nation great. If someone doesn't not like it here, we also have given them the ability to leave.

  • IT IS AN HONOR TO SERVE, SON JUST MADE 1ST lt

  • Tradition, Honour, Dignity. And Always Faithful. Words with meaning not just letters. Thanks for sharing.

  • what the hell is this shit. I thought this was bagpipe music and i get some bs american propaganda.

  • As of this date, 19 people on the "dislike" column do not know what it is to be American or realize the very freedoms provided to them from our men and women in uniform. A beautiful, touching and well written song. It is based off of a poem by a Navy SEAL Cdr Mark Waddell who lost several of his team in the sandbox.

  • if u dont care (sorry for swearing) go to hell

  • Awesome, Beautiful, Astonishing, So Sad

  • WOW, what a tear jerker of a video. ;-)

As a piper, I get tired of Amazing Grace except when it's over a Comrades Coffin, draped in either flag. Iraq or Afghanistan, either way, Freedom Costs Blood.

...At the Going Down of the Sun, and in the Morning...WE Shall Remember Them.

  • SEMPER FI

  • I really hate seeing the 19 dislikes. Is this what we've become? Men and Women are fighting for our freedom and many not coming home. People risking their lives and changing their families lives for our freedom. And people aren't supporting them? How do you think that makes them feel? My brother is in Afghanistan and I pray everyday hoping that he will come home. If you cant stand behind your troops stand in front of them.

  • Uhh ... anybody got a box of tissues handy?

Great song - greater sentiment. God bless each and every one of our servicemen and women, fighting for us. I intend to use this on my blog as a Memorial Day tribute. Thanks for this.

  • I appreciate the fine response, there is no finer joy than to defend this great nation. I did for 26 years and my son plans on making a career. We did it to give "others" the ability to complain about us.

  • excellent video...thank you

  • @nonnobis3 thanks for the movie...

  • Following on what was not finished, I hope (not pray because I am not religious) that whatever these men and women have to do goes the right way. Think of everyone all the time and thank goodness it is not me out there. Much appreciated.

  • Definetly one of the best tributes on youtube

  • the bagpipes they used in the beginning were uillean pipes not the scottish highland pipes, just throwing that out there

  • this show was well done, im going in the army in january and 100 percent believe its the right decision for me.

  • God Bless you brave. Good Luck!

  • I hope everything is going well from an ole retired Msgt

  • Comment removed

  • Retired MSgt sends a salute those who have served. Vietnam Vet 66-67 with a total of 26 years service. I am proud of my service. My son curently is in ROTC at NC State and will be a 2 Lt May 09. It has been a family tradition. Thank you , all of you - salute

  • god bless you and your's sir from a 20 year man HMF (A). Hope he comes home safe

  • May 8th, 2009 I was able to pin my son. He is a munition missile maintenance officer currently station at a missile base in Wyoming. He is proud of his service and looking forward to a career.

  • @RollinVideoRoom - God bless your son! God bless America!!!!

  • @RollinVideoRoom much thanks and respect. I amgoing to break my family tradition and enlist. I'll be the first in my family to ever server. I think it is time for someone in my family to server their country for all the USA has given them.

  • pero q es esto?? les ponen aki de heroes no m jodas

  • I want to personally thank you for serving in what is becoming an unpopular war. My husband served with the 1st Cav with great pride in Viet Nam in 1966-67 and 1969-70. That, too, was an unpopular war, but he believed in his mission and performed it with great courage. He was a door gunner on a Huey and I am so lucky to have gotten him back home. He then spent 22 more years in the Army. God Bless You and Keep You Safe. I do hope that you are not redeployed, but if you are, I will pray for you.

  • It doesn't matter what your politics are, doesn't matter if you support the war or not. Every human being is entitled to his or her opinion and beliefs. Each member of our armed forces that has fallen on the field of battle did so protecting OUR constitutional rights to free speech, liberty, pursuit of happiness, etc. If it were not for men and women like these, who died defending these rights you and I might be living under a dictatorship that seeks to deny these basic human rights. God Bless!

  • This video has nothing to do with polotics It has to do with a familyand thier heritage a war and our country.take your personal opinions about the world and put them aside and watch the video listen to the words then go outside and get a fricken life.

  • Why do people feel the overwhelming urge to make everything political, it drives me mad! -RB

  • And besides, I'm not sure you grasp that the people we are killing in Iraq and Afghanistan would gladly kill you, be it with a steak knife or a nuke. It might be about time you quit worrying about the why, and start worrying about the how. If someone threatens to kill you, you should probably figure out how to survive before you figure out why they want to kill you. Just a little advice on self-preservation. The principles apply to world affairs just as much as they do on the street.

  • So like I expected you just make a stereotype out of every Iraqi or Afghani. You should realise only like 0.01% of their population is that fanatic to kill you because you're american/european...

Like there are fanatics in america/europe. Such as the Neo-Nazi's or the KKK, who would kill you just because you're from a part of the human race they dont like =/

  • ok i will. to all you jerks who think that we want to hear your opinions on the war, NOBODY CARES. go post your opinions on another video. If you dont think your freedom is worth fighting for, please leave this country and go to one that represses their citizens, and enjoy suffering. this video is a TRIBUTE TO OUR HEROES,nothing more nothing less.so SHUT UP and just say THANK YOU.

  • thanks. I don't mind people posting opinions, just no foul language. again, thanks for reposting your comment!

  • i hear ya,sorry for that it just seems thats the only way to get that point across sometimes, i hang around a lot of Marines lol

  • I hear ya. And please tell those Marines that they have the deepest thanks and continued prayers of a VERY grateful American.

  • @lovesamarine

I had no idea we were being attacked by Iraqi's? Lybians? whos the enemy? Just blindly follow orders and shoot at who the government tells us is the bad guys? Ever think the government lies? You think dropping bombs on faceless civilians in another country so oil tycoons can make record profits of the resources in those countries is really a fight for freedom? I don't need some morons taking orders from the government to fight for my freedoms!

  • This comment has been removed due to foul/explicit language.

I do wish you would repost your sentiment without the offensive word(s).

  • Please! get a better picture!

I always hear that you fight for "your freedom" ans so on...????

In Sweden we have more freedom than you ever will get, and we dont make war? why? Because our country is not run by a moron followed by retards...

If you feel so much for people that live under a dictator, why dont helt countries without oil????? then you have a lot to do, but no....

  • Dude, I am a member of an Air Force JROTC Unit. I have met hunbdreds of active duty soldiers of all branches of the military. Every single one of them have served overseas, and every single one said they would go back to fight for your right to speak freely. Don't abuse your right by saying they're dying for a wrong cause, because they're fighting for your right to sya what you want. How dare you criticize their work like that. One of the soldiers I spoke to said screw the protestors.

  • dude thats not funny

  • thats reeeealy not funy. Proboly true if the afgan war goes on and the Iraqies can't acept the us and uk want to help, still no funny.

  • you idiot

  • well sir i hope you honestly rot you terrorist, go get deported from Australia you honestly dont deserve to live there, you NEVER make jokes like that, its uncalled for selfish, and shows people like you need to die in some place cold and dark, you certainly dont deserve freedom of speech sir you never earned that right.

  • Then why didn't the US attack Iran =/ it's not an official dictatorship (neither was Iraq) and I don't think Khatami, or Ahmadinejad are better than Saddam. I know they didn't murder that many people, but Ahmadinejad is a far bigger treat for ur precious US than Saddam would ever be.

(And it's more likely they got nuclear weapons than Iraq, which had none :o how surprising.. ;-) )

  • The U.S. has been looking at Iran for a while. And we didn't want to wait and see if Iraq had WMD's or not. Because when we found out it would have been too late. And unless you actually work for the American DoD or have been over there keep your mouth shut.

  • Ok, defender of ur country's pride ^^, Iraq didn't have any intention to attack the US, because Saddam knew it would lead to his own destruction, but when the US begins to get agressive towards him, he had to react and reply with the same agressive language. They didn't had WMD's so it wouldn't ever be too late... And btw did you knew that the Iraqi rebellions are fighting with weapons they got from the US in the war against Iran, ironic don't you think? I busted you ibusttrashtalkers...

  • Iraq certainty had WMD's

we sold them to Saddam in the 80's to fight Iran. ask George W he has the receipt

  • lol, wouldn't suprise me (no offence to you americans out there in youtube land)

  • Its ok

  • Actually man... it would have been way easier for him to have just let the inspectors in, and not restrict their access, like the UN Resolutions he agreed to stipulated. Using aggressive language against a nation with a clearly superior military only REENFORCED the belief that he had those weapons. Btw, did you know that 2 dumptrucks loaded with 300 gallons of chlorine were detonated in iraq this year (2008) sending more than 300 people to the hospital? Thats a chemical weapon.

  • Dude... if you call that a chemical weapon, then every country in the world has chemical weapons. The US just thinks they are the only nation that can have nuclear weapons and are agressive against everyone who has nuclear energy (nord korea, iran,...) and not willing to go along with the US' politics... That's kinda hypocrite don't you think?

  • WMD is a weapon of mass destruction. Theyre also known as NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) weapons. So yes, technically that is a WMD. And no, its not hypocritical to not want genocidal states like Saddam's Iraq and Iran to have such weaponry. And no, its not hypocritical to be aggressive toward those who advocate/engage in genocide. The first duty of any government is to protect its people, if that means backing up allies like Israel, or Britain, or anyone else... then we will do that.

  • COME ON... Israel? The Palestanians are treated like animals over there, they only get enough water to survive while the Israelites fill their pools and wash their cars with that same water the Palestanians need... The US always needs an enemy, they don't care what it is: first it were the Germans, then the Russians, Vietnam, and now it's the Middle East. When they've ruined the economy of that region enough they'll go somewhere else to keep their weaponindustry alive... that's the reason

  • The Palestinians started off as exiled criminals from other Arab states, they are the decendents of the trash from the rest of the Arab states. They've never had a country. And yes, every unified nation has always had an enemy. I dont know that its so much about the weapon industry though, I'd say it has more to do with US economic stability in other areas.

  • some countries started with the decendents of the trash from the rest of Europen cuontries long time ago, do you remember? Some of those countries were form stealing land from natives

  • Just stay on your side of the Rio Grande, beaner!

  • Absolutely pendejo, estupido e ignorante, I have no intention to leave my country. Alguna vez has dejado el tuyo? no lo creo, no te oyes muy culto que digamos. Al menos yo hablo y escribo en dos idiomas y tu? hablas y rebuznas al mismo tiempo. I own a piece of country, do you own a piece of yours? And yes, I'm a very proud beaner, especialmente por que los mexicanos si somos autosuficientes, no como otros...

  • hahahahha, I just read your profile,I understand now, pobre perdedor, viejo y peleando con chiquillas.

  • lol i just read it 2

  • Shouldn't you be a bit concerned about how long it is going to be before the UK is under sharia law?

  • ok ok, I'll give you that. put a smile on my face.

Give me a room full of Mexicans before Muzzys any day.

  • not to mention, you now can hear of canadian citizen being takin prisonor by US troops. turns out they are muslims. also turns out our new homegrown canadian born terrorists are surly working for their money these days bombing parliment the lot of the bastards.

  • If you really wanna talk about weap industries, you should ask what the most common weapon on earth is and where its made. It was designed by a guy named Kalashnikov. All the enemies you said were guess what, genocidal. Vietnam okay was started on false pretences, we thought they attacked us. And we're not after the whole middle east, just the ones who are once again genocidal. Do you look for vids like this to make yourself feel better? Seriously... go write a blog of something man.

  • I just made a comment on some chauvinistic american like 6 months ago on this vid. And since then other chauvinists like you have been harassing me with the SAME comments, always the SAME... I just want to help them to think about another option, not always the option that the ppl in the middle east are all semi-satans.

  • I never said they were. I said that Palestinians dont deserve a nation, because they never had one. And their "Authority" is a terrorist organization! And correct me if im wrong (which I'm not), but im pretty sure we're working WITH most of the iraqi people, including civilians who want al qaeda dead too. I also pointed out that we killed nazis just as fervently (if not more) as we kill al qaeda. Its the idealism of genocide we're fighting, not a race. Only al qaeda is callin for genocide.

  • I agree with you on most parts, but what about the Palestanians? The Israeli's didn't have a nation and world leaders after WWII decided they could go live in the area where some nomad people live, who would care. Who do you think has the most right of living there? People that have always lived there, or people who come from all over the world?

  • Meant to say "unstable region".

  • May god bless our men and women in srvice of this country. Bring them all home safe is my wish.

Thank you to all the men and women whom serve me/ us in active duty.

  • god bless the men and women who fight for the very freedom we take for granted

  • thanks for your service. Truly. I agree this war should be over, but surrendering is NOT an option. Too much at stake. Welcome back to civilian life. I hope your adjusting well. I hope my son adjusts well too....

  • "There are no winners in wars; only losers".

In WWII even the U.S. suffered great losses. Besides the price tag of $3.6 TRILLION in today's dollars, there were 292,131 Americans killed and 670,846 wounded. These figures excludes 115,185 "non-battle deaths". Then there is also the priceless emotional toll of shattered lives and marriages.

No political statement here - just a fact.

  • freedom has a price

  • Who's the idiot here? You can't even spell a three-letter word such as "are".

  • this video and song was great. My son comes home in May. Srgt USMC. It's time. I wish they could all come back. If we do it right, carefully, and slowly, we succeed. Enough occupation and policing. Doesn't history teach those in commanding/authortative positions anything? God Bless those that serve!

  • i wish for your son to come back home safe.and for all of them to come back safe. may god bless you, your son and everybody in the world.

  • So emotional. I almost cried... Wonderful tribute, my friend, God bless ye...

  • nessa it was good hey what a brill song

  • lolol

  • Such a wonderful tribute video and song. Thank you very much for this share...huggss nessa

  • You can't re-elect a president thats not running artard...

  • You only get one life. I wouldn't waste it on war. Unless they come into my country. Then I would fight. Other then that it is a waste of human life. Life has too much to offer.

  • Well said! See, there are smart people out there!

  • look, I dont know where you are from but here in America it is a great honor to be in the Armed Forces. This song is a great reminder of what it costs to stay free and everyone herewill agree with me.

  • It must be hard to go over there and see what it's like in a society where you can be killed or maimed for speaking out and then come back to the U.S. and deal with spoiled rotten, whiny-ass, kids your own age, who have no idea how great this country is. I've got a lot of respect for the young people who enlist these days. My son is 17 and hasn't even been away from home for more than 5 days. GOD bless you!!! PS. My dad and late husband were in the Air Force.

  • I give thanx to all the men and women in Iraq. They are giving their all so that we can take it easy and take liberty for granted. It saddens me to see all the people who do not support our boys. Why can't they realize what these people do for us?

  • Amen man and god bless our boys and girls who are serving in iraq.

  • God bless you too for supporting them. We need more people like you.

  • They keep the fight over there, they keep us safe at home, they fight for us, they do what the rest of us can't do. They are setting up a long term ally for us. You have no idea how much they do for us. WHy can't you see that?

  • It's not exactly about what they do for us, but what they do for the Iraqi people. Its the fact that they are wiling to sacrifice their life for someone they've never met, will never know, will never be able to talk to and all for a cause greater than themselves, greater even than you and I. Freedom is always a cause worth dying for. So instead of whining and complaining, go thank a vet for bothering to fight for you, so that you can sit here and take up space annoying people who support them.

  • Darkavenger666, you might benefit from studying more history. Sweden is indeed a fortunate country. Had the Germans won the Battle of Kursk, Hitler planned to invade Sweden in 1943. (Look up Operation Polar Fox)

North Korea? Are you aware that 38,000 Americans died defending South Korea against North Korean and Chinese aggression? As to why Cuba is still communist, read more about the missile crisis of 1962. In a few more years, there will be some major changes in Cuba.

  • I have studied History... Yes american soldiers died in Korea 50 years ago.. Why not attack today? And the missile crisis was as you say 1962 over 40 years ago.. About the Polar Fox I do not know

  • I lloked up Silver fox and what I could find it was Finland territories that would be attacked... I dont think that Germany had anything to gain by attacking sweden since we were verry friendly towards them anyway

  • Boy, that's nothing to be bragging about! I would try to down play the "being very friendly" part if I were you!

  • theit57 wrote: > It's not exactly about what they do for us, but what they do for the Iraqi people

And the German, French, Italian people. Thank to the US we are free and we don't forget. God bless America.

  • ulli40,,, k you may not be by our side, but like all good men, you can pray, ,, for the Men, women, children that will suffer in Conflict, Pray, it shall be minimum

  • Thanks for posting this. It makes me miss all of my buddies who are still over there and those who are preparing to go back.

KHC Echo Co. 1/149th INF 11BO HOOAH!!

  • it sounds good!!!

  • i should get my sister and her band to learn this song

  • many of our fights the american comrades fight for us. they are easier to send around in the world than we are but nevertheless, they are fighting our battles for us.. we should be ashamed...

I´d like to0 help them and be whith them but I´m not allowed by my country´s laws

  • wtf is that supposed 2 mean?

  • What that means is that DRVOMIT is a hard-core jihadi. Go ahead, check his profile. We'd all be better off if he took up *permanent* residence in a bungalow in Gitmo.

  • No, DRVOMIT, there are many non-Americans who are on America's side. Because we know, that America is also watching over us (because our European politicians are too stupid to defend their own people, instead they hold hands with jihadists and kiss their asses.)

  • what else is new(no offense man) but at least England is fighting alongside us thought right?

  • As I former 54B in the the Army I would like to say that this is a wonderful tribute to the troops. It is very true of those who ask why we put on the uniform...they will never "get it"..here is a question for all who watch this video. there is a slide of the video that shows a recipient of the MOH. I hope most that all the people who see this not only know who he is....but what he did for his men and for his country.

    L.Duke A Co 82 Chem-401st Chem(sg)

  • The reasons vary for each of us that puts on the uniform, and indeed no amount of explaining will ever fully make it clear to those that must ask "Why?".

~America...disregarding the Status Quo since 1776~

  • thank you, flyboy . . for serving our country.

How can I possibly thank you for what you did?

God is a God of Wonders

  • ya its amazing how fast we forget what happend on september 11th. how ppl are whinen about goen into the east is beyond me!!!!!!!!!

  • that was for the september 11 for the family who lost there lives good job on the song we still remember them

  • state yanks!! make your own song noobs.. "yyeee man"

  • those arn't bagpipes, they're uillienn pipes. dumb hicks!

  • Uilleann Pipes are a type of bagpipe. And the pipes at the beginning are Uilleann pipes, but the pipes at the end are Great Highland Bagpipes.

  • Haha, jeff, you can't even spell "uilleann" correctly.

  • Wow, what can I say.. Good job on the song and video.. you tell it like it is!

  • I really like the cross. . .

    Christ Reigns

  • but anyways i love the song and great video i think it does send a good reverent message

  • What is this song ?? love it, it´s amazing

  • Bagpipes Crying...You really should look at the title

  • OUTF***INGSTANDING!

EWC John M. Mumper, USNR (Ret.)

  • It's easy to sit back now and make armchair judgements about "typical yanks" when you aren't one and you enjoy the protective umbrella that those "shoot first and ask questions later" yanks provide. Remember that next time you're down with your mates at the pub with your body piercings and your socialist buddies who think it's cool to offend Mom and Dad. Oh, by the by-Scotland will be free of you British pricks!!!!!!!!

  • It's always those upon which the ultimate demand is never made that freedom is appreciated least! I believe our misguided friend was trying to say "Gung Ho" attitude which was and is a Marine term. America could have stayed out of WW2 but we decided we needed to help Britan and the rest of the world fight off the onslaught of tyrrany and oppression. Looking back now, maybe we should have just let it all be.

  • lol the marines are just meat shields though they aren't very gung ho. look at every major war the casualties for marines are off the charts. then look at who is usually sent it after the marines either navy or army special forces

  • You obviously don't know many Marines. The reason that casualties for Marines are so high is because they take on the jobs that make the beaches and access points secure for further landings of other troops and supplies. Everyone plays a part from the Navy who supplies the offshore artillery support and on demand air cover to the spec ops forces who conduct recon to the Air Force who engages in precision bombing missions. Everyone has a job to do in unison for the overall goal.

  • first of all knowing marines has nothing to do with what im saying and i do happen to know lots of them and they all say pretty much "Ya we're meat sheilds." plus please tell me what kind of equipment they have? ya my dad works for ITT night vision industries and they have full list of....shipments sent to the marines all but 3 shipments of stuff was stuff pre-used by either army or navy, and guess it wasn't for training it was for active use

  • Be really interesting to learn how your father knows about military shipments of supplies to units in the theater of operations when he isn't with the department of defense. I don't particularly care what your Dad told you he does or doesn't know, Marines are used to using used equipment for training and in the field. We are trained to pick up whatever we find and be field expedient in combat situations. Nuff said to you. I respect your right to voice your opinion and that's about it.

  • FYI ITT night vision is practically part of defense they have top clearance and they have more access to top secret documents and other stuff than the president does

  • i do have the greatest of respects for those who put themselves in harms way its just that i believe that the marines are not....... used to the potential they should be i just happen to believe they are used at meat shields to some people

  • Remember that one of the reasons we are sitting here having this discourse and you are able to say things out of school about the Marines is because of men and women like them who put it all on the line everyday. Oh, by the way-Semper Fi from a not currently active Marine.

  • i used to think he said: 'o, my beat'n heart and the crashin waves' but found out later he said 'omaha beach and the crash'n waves.'

  • Just an amazing song and the pictures were just an inspiration. Thank you for having it here.

  • no offence or dis-srepect to those in the film....but why ??????????.all the gun-ho attitude?.typical yanks..SHOOT FIRST,,ASK LATER

NO WONDER YOUR COUNTRY IS GOOSED..

  • I don't know where the hell your from, but I'm willing to bet my next two paychecks that if it weren't for us "yanks" and all of our gung-ho attitude, your sorry ass would probably be eating knackwurst and washing it down with some some good ole' japanese saki. So go ahead and bag on us Americans. We freed the world in WW2 and here we are doing the heavy lifting once again, that the candy-asses of the world are unable or unwilling to do. DMC

  • i like knackwurst...

  • we did great things in 1942 but lets not live in the past or we will have no future... We have brave men in harms way becuase we didnt do what our founding fathers want us to do, question our government..America has more to offer the world...our country is diverse in many ways and will be able to bring our boys back home.

  • Let's not confuse diversity with being "United" against foreign enemies.

These exttemists who are fighting against us in the streets of Iraq would be more than happy to bring the fight to your neighborhood. There is no diversity in their strategy. They aim to win the fight at all costs.

  • Ha HA FAT BOY SEE U WHEN THE SLANTEY EYES COME AGAIN..

  • im from scotland and ive had family who has a very long history in the army.myself included.until you have been there, you have no idea what being in a war is about, thats why i said NO-DISREPECT to those who have.

  • EXCUSE ME??

  • so . . .you're willing to ask first when they destroyed our Twin Towers and killed so many innocent? Do we have TIME to ask, after our towers and lives were destroyed! We don't need to ask, they've already said.

Tell me . . .if it was your family that died, would you be singing the same song? This is a time when questions aren't asked.

  • Amazing song!

  • That was amazing

  • good point ol friend

  • Incredible Video

  • I'm not German you idiot, and the southern lands, or Spain, don't call themselves lands of the free... but America does, so you're talking bout a completely other issue. And btw the Romans were the ones in Europe that conquered Europe, yes blood was spilled .. but do the Italians call their country the land of the free? Don't think so...

  • This comment has been removed due to foul/explicit language.

  • the comment u said was removed, but if it was about me, then i would like to say this

i'de reather love then hate =)

  • The comment I removed had foul/explicit language in it. If you would like to rewrite your comment removing the offensive statement, feel free. It had absolutely nothing to do with you as a person. I remove all comments that have foul language regardless of who is posting them. If I have offended you, I apologize, but I stand by my policy.

  • no, u didnt affend me at all. i just wanted to see what u said =)

been haveing a lot of anti hippie/ Rastafarian hate theese days. i'm srry if i offended u and your policy.

  • i do however have respect for vets. =)

  • im not american but am proud of the british and us armys in war and would live in usa to have the proud country spirit that you have in the usa that we are not allowed to have in the uk as we are classed as racist in the uk to love our country

  • I appreciate your sentiment towards the USA we're not always right, but we're always free!!! As a gulf war veteran I appreciate the recognition!!!

  • You would like the US my friend, you should pack up and see what its like to be free..

And yes as kleevage said we may not be right all the time but we try and do whats right most of the time and yes We are all free and kleevage thanks for the time you did in the gulf

  • Thats horriable man(the country spirit thing) Though I have heard of it in America... Some people take political correctness to a point where it actually becomes incorrect...
