Atlantis never should have been cancelled. Cancelling it for the train wreck known as Stargate Universe was a huge mistake. It was starting to get very good, and the series finale felt rushed and inconclusive.

I will agree that SG1 was brilliant and that was what got me to love SGA however I started to watch SGU and didn't like the beginning and still continued to watch and was bored with the story. No offense to those that like it. However I heard that they are not doing a third season of SGU. Atlantis did not go long enough but i am glad they are making a movie to give the series a finale.
Man this show just didnt go long enough, I loved it. Mackay was the best hero ever, and they didnt even skank up the girls for the finale tisk tisk :(

Stargate Universe however is a brilliant edition to the series, it's dark, unpredictible, and most of all it's a refreshing take on the Stargate series. Keep SGU alive even if silly American viewers don't care. People in real countries love it <3

i agree with you about sg universe .. it has some of the best parts of my favorite syfy shows. The lost in space story of voyager. The dark, story arcs and camera shots of battle star galactica. And of course all this in the world of stargate .. genius ..

@MagicalMightyGorilla There are many reasons why SGU sucks. In a nutshell, it's a huge deviation from SG-1/SGA and not in a good way. It's dark and depressing, the drama basically consists of whining and infighting, the characters are unlikable and there is virtually no plot arc. That and the shakycam will give you motion sickness.
@XCVGVCX Yes it is a huge deviation away from SG1/SGA because that style of show was getting old and boring, SGU brought in a new aspect to the franchise and your comment is just based on stupid incorrect facts. The shaycam (as you put it) adds tension to the show, the dark story lines have always been in Stargate but are more dominant in this series because of the situation that the characters are in

Point is good shows/films use material that works and shapes it accordingly to their needs. Have you even seen SGU from beginning to end?
2: It's nothing more than ST Voyager, which in itself was a stretch, straying from the Enterprise. Most, if not all of Stargate's space-based action was with the BC-304, X-302, 302's, Hiveships, Hataks, etc etc etc. They totally ditched the (imo) great looking hyperdrive, the weapons have no real effect (if you didn't notice in the "first real space battle" they just made the shields look pretty).
3: Yes, I realize what science fiction is, and even the camera seems far from. The "Camera Shaking" reminds me strongly of Cloverfield (which many people, including myself, got sick just watching).
4: Silly... last resort to use a word like "Silly" that's just sad...
5: Never seen Ghost in a Shell, but Matrix itself did very well. It continued on for multiple movies, and is still referenced. I've NEVER heard a GiaS reference. *Applauds to Matrix*

3: It's the EXACT same actors... in SGA and SG-1 they actually *gasp* CHANGED ACTORS. Weir to Sam, Sam to Woolzy. SG-! : Hammond to Jack, Jack to (forgot name) (but last general there). They changed the doctor via death. For a time (what's his face) replace Daniel, then Mich replaced Jack as SG-1 leader. They also had different enemies. Replicators, System lords, Anubis, Goa'uld, Ori. Sg-1 were against the Wraith and Asuras, and for two episodes the Pegaus Asgards.
3 Continued In addition to new good characters, they had multiple bad characters. Todd the Wraith, the leader of Pegasus Replicators, Ba'al, Ra, Hathor, etc etc. And what in SGU? 30 some people, some which are slowly "killed off" to make the show "dramatic and realistic." Nahuh... that idea is so lame its sickening. Where's the so-called excitement, the twists? The plot? Hell, even in ST VOYAGER they changed some characters.
LASTLY - There's a reason there won't be a SGU movie... there's no REAL content to make a movie from. The producers know if they go and make a movie worth millions of dollars, they'll lose more money than it cost them to make. There was no movie for SGA because the final episode was a 2hr event (the first one was in alternate reality. Second one was in normal reality vs SuperHive). And I doubt SG has died. Hopefully those behind SG will learn from their mistake of SGU.

SG was founded off Science and the use of it to defend ones self against hostile threats. In SG-1 it was protection from the Goa'uld, which led to the freeing of the galaxy of slavery, the replicators, and the Ori. SGA was about eliminating a blood-sucking race that killed by the millions. That led to the defeat of the Asuras.

One of the things I remember most was when he got out, he was on about how he missed em, but Ronan was like "Yea, well, if was only a couple of hours for us so.."

SGU makes use of more realistic action with proper consequences which is why drama works well with the show. And if you were a fan of the series you would know that the Ancients lost the war with the Wraith because they were out numbered. Being powerful doesn't mean you'll win the fight. 2: Lack of Technology use. coullda used Wormhole device as seen in last epi of SGA, to escape
@TonyEvans96 Using the wormhole drive would have been all well in good if they A) had the materials to build one/reconfigure the FTL drive to be a wormhole drive and if B) it was compatible with Destiny's less advanced technology. Remember that Atlantis is far more advanced and can draw on a far greater energy reserve (ZPMs) than Destiny can and the Lanteans designed the drive specifically for Atlantis.
@Fbueller129 Wait, the energy of a STAR doesn't rival that of a ZPM... that's kinda... eh, nvrm. Do you have any idea how much energy a star produces? Think of how much energy we produce using just the light with solar panels here.
@TonyEvans96 But Destiny doesn't have the energy capacity of a star, it just uses them to recharge the ship's batteries. Considering how many times it has to stop to refuel from using just its FTL Drive I'd say that the ZPM is a far greater energy source. And would you really consider opening a wormhole, separate from the one formed by the Stargate, inside of a star while Destiny is recharging?

they shoudlnt have taken SGA out for SGU! or they should have kept SGA and ran SGU as well like they did for SG1 and SGA for a short time. and for those that say SGU is gettin better; shut up! its Star Gate it should be good from the start not 2 seasons in. they should bring in the enemy or bring back the first ones for an epic space battle, let them find a way to get to earth via SG bring in reinforcements, and have a rest of the show about them trying to out run the enemy enroute home.
@deadmansvoice I'll respect your opinion, but I think SGU did it right by having a dull but informative first season to set the stage for the rest of the show. SGA made the mistake of jumping right into the action after the pilot, and from then on to me it seemed like SG1 in fancy black clothing and enemies with blue ships rather then black/gold. While I liked SGA, they focused on action more then story. They killed the ancients in one episode with replicators that they invented. Fail imo.
@deadmansvoice The other thing that boggles me though is they claimed they could either do 1 series + movies, or 2 series, but not 2 series AND movies. But it seems like they removed SGA to do 1 series + movies, yet we haven't gotten any movies for SGA or SG1 since. I'd like to see some quality movies for the SG franchise using the video quality they have for SGU.

Atlantis never should have been cancelled. Cancelling it for the train wreck known as Stargate Universe was a huge mistake. It was starting to get very good, and the series finale felt rushed and inconclusive.

I will agree that SG1 was brilliant and that was what got me to love SGA however I started to watch SGU and didn't like the beginning and still continued to watch and was bored with the story. No offense to those that like it. However I heard that they are not doing a third season of SGU. Atlantis did not go long enough but i am glad they are making a movie to give the series a finale.

Nothing beats Stargate SG1, sorry but as good as Atlantis was it was nothing compared to SG1.
Stargate Universe however is a brilliant edition to the series, it's dark, unpredictible, and most of all it's a refreshing take on the Stargate series. Keep SGU alive even if silly American viewers don't care. People in real countries love it <3

@MagicalMightyGorilla There are many reasons why SGU sucks. In a nutshell, it's a huge deviation from SG-1/SGA and not in a good way. It's dark and depressing, the drama basically consists of whining and infighting, the characters are unlikable and there is virtually no plot arc. That and the shakycam will give you motion sickness.

2: It's nothing more than ST Voyager, which in itself was a stretch, straying from the Enterprise. Most, if not all of Stargate's space-based action was with the BC-304, X-302, 302's, Hiveships, Hataks, etc etc etc. They totally ditched the (imo) great looking hyperdrive, the weapons have no real effect (if you didn't notice in the "first real space battle" they just made the shields look pretty).

SGU provided a new unique take on the Stargate franchise and it worked, yes the story wasn't action orientated which is the cause of most of the unrest over the show but NOT every Sci-Fi is about action. SGU provided (provided is my word of the day) a nice dramatic story with nice acting, music, VFX and so fourth. It was truly a nice piece of Sci-Fi. Oh yeah P.S. There won't be anymore Stargate.. 3: It's the EXACT same actors... in SGA and SG-1 they actually *gasp* CHANGED ACTORS. Weir to Sam, Sam to Woolzy. SG-! : Hammond to Jack, Jack to (forgot name) (but last general there). They changed the doctor via death. For a time (what's his face) replace Daniel, then Mich replaced Jack as SG-1 leader. They also had different enemies. Replicators, System lords, Anubis, Goa'uld, Ori. Sg-1 were against the Wraith and Asuras, and for two episodes the Pegaus Asgards.

LASTLY - There's a reason there won't be a SGU movie... there's no REAL content to make a movie from. The producers know if they go and make a movie worth millions of dollars, they'll lose more money than it cost them to make. There was no movie for SGA because the final episode was a 2hr event (the first one was in alternate reality. Second one was in normal reality vs SuperHive). And I doubt SG has died. Hopefully those behind SG will learn from their mistake of SGU.

SG was founded off Science and the use of it to defend ones self against hostile threats. In SG-1 it was protection from the Goa'uld, which led to the freeing of the galaxy of slavery, the replicators, and the Ori. SGA was about eliminating a blood-sucking race that killed by the millions. That led to the defeat of the Asuras.

That was a real tragedy, not a tick causing hallucinations. Then there was a time that Shepperd was trapped in an Ancient Meditation field that slowed down time. One of the things I remember most was when he got out, he was on about how he missed em, but Ronan was like "Yea, well, if was only a couple of hours for us so.."

I still remember him saying a long intro scene is a bad idea, then for the SG-1 Warmup, it was like 2 seconds, and only showed part of the gate.
What I AM saying, is SG-1 is not a reality show. It is a sci-fi show. If I wanted whining, I'd watch American Idol or something like that.

@TonyEvans96 we're just dominating the comments haha.. SGU cannot be compared to SG1 or SGA and nor should it because it is different. It's no reality show and certainly not action orientated. What is truly wrong with it is the name, it should of been called Destiny or something because the stargate is rarely used. Then people would of stopped comparing it to the older series. people should accept change and move on.

@MagicalMightyGorilla Ugh, again, sorry for delay. School problems and all. I agree, its not entirely reality show, and its definately not action oriented (or for many reasons, action-compatible). Yea, it being called Destiny instead of SG would be better. My real biggest issue is that it goes farther, too much farther, than SG-1 and SGA. We've got a supposedly ancient ship flying between galaxies using energy from the stars. If they were that advanced, why did they lose their war with the Wrth

@TonyEvans96 Wow I'm arguing with a school kid. Cool beans! You're wrong on the action compatible approach. SGU makes use of more realistic action with proper consequences which is why drama works well with the show. And if you were a fan of the series you would know that the Ancients lost the war with the Wraith because they were out numbered. Being powerful doesn't mean you'll win the fight. It's how you use power that determines the result of war.

@MagicalMightyGorilla Eh, HIGH school kid to you, Mister (-_-)... (j/k). Well, the first "real space battle" was ten ships from the aliens taking crappy shots on Destiny. Destiny countered with a shuttle. One shuttle. The fighters didn't even fight against the shuttle, just let themselves get blown up. And I am a fan. They lose for three reasons. 1: Stubbornicity (a word in my dictionary)
2: Lack of Technology use. coullda used Wormhole device as seen in last epi of SGA, to escape
3: outnumbered

@TonyEvans96 Using the wormhole drive would have been all well in good if they A) had the materials to build one/reconfigure the FTL drive to be a wormhole drive and if B) it was compatible with Destiny's less advanced technology. Remember that Atlantis is far more advanced and can draw on a far greater energy reserve (ZPMs) than Destiny can and the Lanteans designed the drive specifically for Atlantis.

@TonyEvans96 But Destiny doesn't have the energy capacity of a star, it just uses them to recharge the ship's batteries. Considering how many times it has to stop to refuel from using just its FTL Drive I'd say that the ZPM is a far greater energy source. And would you really consider opening a wormhole, separate from the one formed by the Stargate, inside of a star while Destiny is recharging?

P.S SGU = BSG inspired, stuck in a ship in the middle of nowhere trying to out run an enemy while looking for a way home (new home/safety)... where have i seen that before!?!?!?!? i wouldnt be surprised if they started having alien crew memebers onboard just to star trek it up a bit ^_^

they shoudlnt have taken SGA out for SGU! or they should have kept SGA and ran SGU as well like they did for SG1 and SGA for a short time. and for those that say SGU is gettin better; shut up! its Star Gate it should be good from the start not 2 seasons in. they should bring in the enemy or bring back the first ones for an epic space battle, let them find a way to get to earth via SG bring in reinforcements, and have a rest of the show about them trying to out run the enemy enroute home.

@deadmansvoice I'll respect your opinion, but I think SGU did it right by having a dull but informative first season to set the stage for the rest of the show. SGA made the mistake of jumping right into the action after the pilot, and from then on to me it seemed like SG1 in fancy black clothing and enemies with blue ships rather then black/gold. While I liked SGA, they focused on action more then story. They killed the ancients in one episode with replicators that they invented. Fail imo.

@deadmansvoice The other thing that boggles me though is they claimed they could either do 1 series + movies, or 2 series, but not 2 series AND movies. But it seems like they removed SGA to do 1 series + movies, yet we haven't gotten any movies for SGA or SG1 since. I'd like to see some quality movies for the SG franchise using the video quality they have for SGU.

@farcry2ffan Something to do with SGU's clever subtlty exposing the other series' over the top and repetative attempts that have sullied the good reputtion of the movie all these years.
SG1 - oh there's an ancient evil that controls thousands ofplanets and ships, lets just send 4 people through an ungarded portal on to one of their ships, plant some c4 and kill another one. Then we'll have our comic relief make jokes about how laughably easy it was.
