I remember when I was 7 my friend and I would play baseball in my backyard and I would always get in fights with him over who gets to be Mickey Mantle...that was in 1991...in Ontario, Canada...and I was more of a football fan.
I was at Mickey Mantle day, June 6, 1969 when they retired his number 7 and he took a ride around the old stadium in a golf cart. Most memorable moment was when the Mick surprised Joe DiMaggio by handing him his own plaque that would eventually hang in center field. Once as a kid i ran out into center field at the old stadium and looked back to home plate where some people were standing. It was so far away, you could only see them from the waste up! Awesome place with the Mick their!!
I did not like Bob Costas making Mickey feel uncomfortable about his mistakes. Just by the way he did it and he knew Mickey and should of told him before the interview that it was going to be like that and well I am sure maybe he would of not had gone that far into what went wrong without being prepared before hand to discus it with him. I love the MICK he was a great swinger from both sides of the plate.
@steventhevirgin39 You might want to watch the clip again as there was no interview by Bob of Mickey on the clip.
Plus, as Tom Brokaw pointed out about Bob carrying a Mantle baseball card in his wallet, nobody loved Mickey more that Costas. Hell he even named one of his kids Mickey... So there is NO way he would do anything to make Mickey uncomfortable even IF there was a clip of him interviewing Mantle in my video.

That's how cool Mickey Mantle was.
