  • Every so often, I come back and watch this video again. G'Kar and Andreas was by far, the most interesting and complex character on any show that I've watched. Definitely missed.

  • you know, i love this. one of the most complex characters i've ever seen

  • See you at the other side... so long my friend

  • He was taken from us so many years before he was due to go. Todays "Talent" revolve around the douche bags from Jersey Shore.

Where or where did we go wrong???

It was so sad to learn of his passing. He made each role a personal best. one of the greatest. he needs a star on the walk of fame for sure.

  • Makes me cry, and miss him so much. I LOVED G'Kar and B5 with a passion that will never end. Andreas was incredible, and itg makes me feel so sad and wish that I was still back there when B5 was still on.

  • @CCB5er34 i heard that...G'kar was the MAN

  • Respond to this video... Breaks my heart ill never see Andreas perform again...RIP my dearand trusted Friend

  • Many actors say that they love acting and I believe them. But I also believe that no one has ever loved acting more than Andy. When you look at the sincerity and passion of his performances you can feel the love in every word he said. RIP Andreas Katsulas.

  • Makes me cry every time.

  • De tous, le plus emblématique des personnages de cette fabuleuse série. Une grande perte saluée ici par un extraordinaire montage. Félicitation et merci !

  • Is a higher quality version of this video available anywhere? (Phenomenal video btw.)

  • Great Use of the Dragonheart Soundtrack. I miss Andreas too!

  • G'Kar, IMO the best written and performed character in Sci-Fi history bar none.

    RIP Andreas

  • My favourite character "G'Kar" of any Sci-Fi show and Katsulas played him amazingly well, in my view there will never be any other actor/character to match his biblical presence on the screen for any new show to come. I am now going to re-watch the entire B5 series to absorb the wonderful wisdom that is G'Kar

  • Andreas, Richard Biggs, Tim Choate and now Jeff Conaway, all gone beyond the rim, R.I.P. Babylon 5 fans will never forget you all.

  • This makes me cry every time, for I loved G'Kar, Andreas and B5 with a great passion. He was magnificent.

  • he was a awesome artist, the way his character evolved in B5 was a very good work. i watched ST: TNG once more again and discovered him on several roles there (i.e. romulan). after looking up on wiki i noticed he died and it is truely a loss. rest in peace G´Kar, wise man.

  • I didn't realise he had died either. I'll always enjoy watching him as G'Kar.

  • Till right now I didn't know he was dead... He was great as G'Kar. All the best for your future lifes to come, Mr. Katsulas!

  • RIP, Mr Katsulas. May the Commander and Chief give you good orders on your next assignnment. =Stefan=

  • A wonderful talent, taken far too soon.

His ability to bring such gravitas, emotion and elicit such feelings in us as viewers, when he was restricted by costume and makeup like this, is a testament to his amazing acting talents.

    A real artist.

  • Forever missed )': <3

  • Freaking awesome!

  • rip andreas..καλη ανταμωση(may we have a nice reunion(in the other world))

  • A beautiful tribute. Wonderfully put together and achingly hauting! Thank you.

  • the most perfect tribute that ever ive seen,

the part of us that has stayed very much misses the part of him that has gone

  • I cry every time. Every goddamn time.

  • An inspiration that can be drawn upon even after his death. Would that we could all say the same when we are gone and released from this mortal coil. Andreas Katsulas you will not be forgotten and we could not even if we tried.

  • We miss you Andreas.

  • Damned cigarettes.

  • After Babylon 5 I was really looking forward to seeing more of Katsulas no matter the role and his voice acting was the sole reason I bought that PS2 game Primal,he was as good as allways in his role.

Just today I had a conversation about B5 and when I told my class mate that Katsulas was dead,he was shocked,as if he had seen his own death,my own reaction was the same when I first heard of his death.

    May he rest well.

  • If Babylon 5 hadn't been a sci-fi show, Katsulas (Jurassic too) would have snagged an Emmy. All the characters on B5 had arcs, but G'Kar was the soul of the station, and the one who learned the greatest lesson of all. Katsulas wasn't a typically good looking man so it's probably fitting that he was at his most romantic and heroic under all that makeup.

  • A wonderful man who was a part of something wonderful. It pains me to think that I never had the chance to meet him in person in this life.

  • A great tribute to a great man!

  • R.I.P G'Kar.You were a part of one of the greatest shows ever made.

  • Katsulas was a magnificent actor, and his acting is something that I've incorporated into my life, personally and professionally. The man was a miracle, and he will be so sorely missed.

  • Andreas Katsulas played one of the BEST characters ever written. If G'kar was played by someone else, he wouldn't have the certain spark that Andreas Katsulas brought to him

    R.I.P. Andreas Katsulas

  • he was a great actor and a great peson at scifi shows when i meet him for babylon

    5 the 3 times

  • Well Done...Well...Done... :-)

  • beautifull and very fitting video.

i remember him most from star trek and B5, sorry to hear he has passed

  • In early 2005, Andreas was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer; he passed away a year later, in Los Angeles. He had lived there since 1986, and had hoped to return to working in the theater before his far-too-early death, just over three months shy of his 60th birthday.

  • i never knew the guy was dead till i saw this..one of the best characters in Babylon 5..RIP G'Kar :(

  • 1:38-2:27 sends a chill down my spine, great delivery from a great actor. RIP Andreas

  • Music was perfect. And very, very sad :*(

  • Executive Decision, Star Trek Next Generation and tons of other Tv episodes and movies. Babylon 5 was just one of his last works but it gave more people a chance to see what a wonderful actor he was. Trying to explain this to some people is like having a one armed man be a boxer..

  • That was awesome! Thanks You!

  • very very very good

  • ther have been series with larger followings better special effects bigger name actors.. but writing..there is no better and very few come close

  • Fro m the very beginning, JMS didn't care about the money - he said so in the commentaries (DVD) and in the fact that by the 4th movie when he was offered more money for the effects, he turned it down. It's all in the storyline for JMS.

  • this is really beautiful. it puts things in perspective

  • thank you for this, it is a real tribute

  • Thank you for making and Posting this. It made me tear up. I only have one suggestion. The Moments of Transition Speach would have made it even more awesome (if that is possible).

  • very nice tribute of a great actor.

    thank you .

  • really ?? i followed his career . i was excited when i heard he was going to be on stng . then on babylon 5 .

  • Farewell Andreas!

  • great! thx for uploading it

  • I'll always remember the One Armed Man.

  • потрясающе сыграл роль Г'кара очень жаль что он умер. Без него не будет того Вавилона что был.

  • The real life loss of G'Kar and Dr Stephen Franklin ripped the heart out of B5. It can never me re-made without these great actors. Both were so truly believable in their roles.

  • Actually, I was very impressed by how JMS delivered the news in "The Lost Tales".

That Franklin went with G'Kar beyond the Rim. I thought it was... touching.

  • Fair play abraxas365

Good comment, i liked that as well, they also did a similar tribute to Don.S.Davis in Stargate SG-1.

    Nice One

  • it doesnt need remaking. Just the graphics updating and that doesnt need the actors. But it cant ever have a proper spin off without em really.

  • how did he die?

  • Lung cancer

  • wonderful

  • i loved B5 and at the end of it i cried

  • may we meet again somewhere beyond the rim...where no shadows fall

  • Too take ordinary words and make them great was his gift - a truly wonderful actor and sadly missed

  • I love G'Kar - and he will always remain with us, even if Andreas is no longer with us.

The arch of G'Kar, is the most interesting and the best of B5

  • my favorite character

  • " we are the sum of our fears "

Words that are true for us all

  • @sammyatlantis

    Tears, not fears.

  • Comment removed

  • @sammyatlantis

"we are all the sum of our tears.

too few and the ground is unfertile and nothing can grow there

too many and the best of us is washed away"

    love G'kar!

  • May the part of him that is staying remain with us and bring us the clarity, insight, and inspiration with which he lived his life.

I salute you, Andreas, for giving us G'Kar and so much more. Thank you.

  • As long as we do not forget him, he will always be with us.

  • I love this vid. It is truly inspiring. rest in peace Andreas.

  • This always makes me think on my life. Especially the part when he says go any where in this station...you will here the echos of conversations past. 1:50 to 2:05. This was a wonderful video and it makes me cry all the time.

RIP Andreas. You will be missed.

  • indeed. seeing my parents house finally be vacated after 35 years... those words really resonated with me....

  • Very Beautiful, and also very true too what is spoken in this clip...R.I.P.amen...

  • Very well done.

    R.I.P. Andreas Katsulas

  • He was a great man, and the world is a darker place without him.

    RIP Andreas

  • it was his G'Kar that was my favorite of the Babylon characters. This was a wonderful salute to both actor and character.

  • just an absolute star in every way... by far the strongest and most imfluential charactor of the show in my opinion. for me he was the one i could most relate to. his story so much like the story of scottish history and strugle, i found myself sympathetic to g'kar from the very start of this great show

  • RIP

A actor life as long as somebody remember

  • RIP Andreas,

I always though G'Kar's character and the evolution of the character from villain into paragon was an interesting one and one I've not seen many other places

  • RIP Andreas you were much loved

  • The character of G'Kar became what we should all be. If every man, woman and child exercised the awesome spiritualism G'Kar did, along with the wisdom, oh what a magnificent society we'd have! God would be proud!

Andreas was perfect as G'Kar. He had the voice that made you sit and listen, even when G'Kar wasn't such a nice little Narn. It's unfortunate he's not around anymore, but it makes us treasure what he's left behind that much more. In Andreas' accomplishments, God should be proud.

  • He will never really be dead. The actor or Ga'car

  • It's G'Kar, unless you meant someone else.

  • Sorry, cant spell and yes G'kar

  • neverr we just go on to other journeys,,. peace be upon you all..

  • "We are all the sum of our fears."

That line never made much sense to me until that night... I love the philosophy B5 has in every episode - every character

  • I love also 0:20 - O:25, the close-up of G'Kar's eyes. It gives one a sense of mortality, hope and despair. Just that one expression tells more about G'Kar than any words could convey.

  • We are all the sum of our tears.

  • No good and extraordinary being in the world will ever be absolutely dead - thoughts, memories and love always stays!!

  • Hello There´s,

when there is a TV-SF-Series, i´m DEEPLY LOVE and MISSED, it was BABYLON 5 and their Characters.

And i´m loved, and MISS, Andreas and Richard.

    May they sleep in Light.

  • Asolutely beautiful!! No further words!!

  • How did you take out the music from the original scenes?

Or did all the scenes used not have music originally?

  • good actor, great character

  • Someone must send this to JMS. Make this the official B5 memorial video to such a brilliant actor.

  • I find part of Ronald Regan's eulogy to the Challenge Seven very appropriate

"We bid you goodbye. We will never forget you. For those who knew you well and loved you, the pain will be deep and enduring"

    So many of my favorite actors have passed beyond the rim this Decade;

    Andreas Katsulas

    Richard Biggs

    Roy Schneider

    Jonathan Brandis

    Royce D. Applegate

    Tony Jay

Anthony Ainley (Dr who fans know who he is)

  • Oi! My uncle did pretty much the same thing meaning Jonathan Brandis' death struck very close to home for me. So don't even presume to Judge people for doing things. Thst right is not yours. The right of judgement goes only to those who knew him.

You don't know his reasons. Whatever they are, they are his and his alone.

Don't judge someone by how they died. Instead do so for how they lived.

  • If you read the articles, they state he hung himself because he was depressed about not being able to find another line of work for his career, and after dinner with friends, they returned to his place, where he excused himself while he went upstairs and suicided

And I've had friends commit suicide before also, so I know what it's like. I'm not judging anyone. All I mean is that if he was going to commit suicide, then he shouldn't have done so while his friends were literally 20 feet away.

  • One of the greatest characters and actors ever to grace scifi is truly missed...his words always felt like they bonded the logic of science with the search for ones soul with comparative ease...a wonderful tribute

  • all the worlds a stage

  • If we do leave a piece of us in whispers wherever we go, then thanks to youtube his whispers are words and his words echo.

A dedicated actor who leaves many great roles behind. This video is truly a work of art, as his role as G'Kar.

Fare thee well Andreas, may your words echo in the hearts and minds of actors yet to take the stage.

  • This video is one of the greatest memorial videoes i have ever seen

  • I've seen this clip dozens of times now. It never fails to move me. Great work and a truly great (and under appreciated) actor.

  • This is anamazing piece, it incapsulates everything we learned from G'Kar during B5 ... Andreas was an amazing actor who too the shows/movies he was in to a new level a deeper leverl. May you find rest "Beyond the Rim" you are missed and the muisc to accomany it was beautiful... o know it wass in dragonheart and other B5 episodes thanks this is a powerful clip

  • Rest in peace and light Andreas!

  • this video is a fantastic tribute.rest in light.

  • .....Katsulas, Jay, Mako....great and magnificent actors. Awesome. goddamn finite existence

  • I find that Andreas Katsulas is a great actor... we will miss him..... This Video is a great honor to him!

  • He (and his character) was one of the hidden true main roles in the series.

May he find peace beyond the rim.

  • RIP This was quite sad to hear

  • i didnt know he had died, thats awful. a truly great actor.

  • RIP Andreas

  • We will see you again...in the place where no shadows fall. S'agapo, Andreas.

  • very good

  • Rest in peace

  • It is truly wonderful to see that people are still adding tributes to this great actor

  • Oh God, this makes me cry.

  • Andreas the Elysian Fields will probably welcome you. May you rest in peace.

''And those that have three times kept to their oaths, keeping their souls clean and pure, never letting their hearts be defiled by the taint of evil and injustice, and barbaric venality, they are led by Zeus to the end:

To the palace of Kronos ''

    Pindar

  • *cries* may he rest in peace

  • JMS wrote such great quotes... but this man delivered them with such authority, presence and emotion. He made Babylon 5 work. Period.

Babylon 5 is my most favorite show and it's a shame a man like this can't even be seen on syndication.

His biggest role was the one-armed man in "The Fugitive". He deserved better, I think.

  • So true. I couldnt have said it better. R.I.P. Andreas,... and G'kar

  • thanks for this tribute. andreas was a great actor, g'kar a great sci-fi character. remember when i heard he'd died, so saddened. same with richard biggs. b5 was & still is my all-time favourite show. jms revolusionised u.s. tv. make more lost tales joe!

  • Gkar is dead!Sad thing.

  • God bless him ..

  • well done a great memoriam..sadly missed as well as babylon5

  • RIP Andreas. Your work will forever be remembered with the giants of sci-fi and makeup acting (Lon Chaney).

  • Amazing how hearing about people die on the news every night hasn't any effect on you, but hearing the death of someone you loved in a television show cuts you up. I suppose it's like losing part of your childhood.

  • Well, I am not used to hear that people died every night on the news (I'm not from America. No offence. Just stating.)

I think, in the case of Andreas, it is like loosing a teacher. While we saw him develop throughout the series, we ourselves developed along with him. And that made him a part of our lives, in contrast to the people on the news.

  • No offence taken - I'm Australian born, raised and still living.

Teacher, childhood, it's still sad to see a beloved person leave the World.

  • It's amazing how one can grow attached to a non-existent person. Well, in the matter of reality, I think, what we form in our thoughts exists (at least for us) and so, G'Kar exists. ;-)

  • G'Kar is definitely one of my favorites, and it made me very sad to learn he died. More importantly, it was Andreas' voice and ability to give such amazing orations as G'Kar that made me enjoy him the most of the characters.

He is definitely missed by so many, for we cannot hear his powerful and moving voice anymore.

  • I agree 100%. Definitely my favourite character.

  • A master Thespian, indeed. His acting and speeches were amongst the best that anyone could offer. I love his characterisation of G'kar in B5 and Scree in Primal. This is a guy I would have loved to have met and will always miss.

  • master thespian!

  • Take care A.K.

  • Big word, big thoughts, a big actor.

A writer writes words and an actor, put life into those words AK did that with G'Kar.

He will be missed. We'll all see him again, when we travel beyond the rim.

  • indeed...this sequence from an earlier episode is definitely a good homage to GKar and Katsulas

  • It is sad that we have lost such great talent and wonderful people. Richard Biggs (Dr. Franklin) Andreas Katsulas (G'Kar) and also Tim Choate (Zathras) Rest Easy Friends, you will be missed.

"The flame reminds that life is precious, as each flame is unique. When it goes out, it is gone forever. And there will never be another quite like it." -Delenn

  • goddamn i didn't realise he was gone, such a shame, a great loss. He had such a fantastic voice, and the dynamic between him and Londo was purely amazing, i think i simply must go back and watch b5 all over again, thanks for posting !

  • Beautiful. Amazing. Glorious.

  • he's my favorite actor in the b5 series.

    awsome speeches he could give.

  • Using the theme from "Dragonheart" was inspired, considering how that film ended. One of the most moving scores I've heard. I think Andreas Katsulas would have also made a great voice for Draco, perhaps even better than Sean Connery's

  • too good!!!!

now... start to live my live and be better every day!

  • Great video for a great actor, and Character, His Character inspires me to be a better man

  • He was a truly great man

  • Andreas - I dont think he ever realised just how much he was loved. Gone beyond the rim, but never forgotten. Video - it makes me cry, even now. Well done.

  • WOW!

  • RIP Andreas Katsulas

  • Simply brilliant you did him proud

    R.I.P

Andreas a great man and a great actor

  • Wow. That was perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better tribute.

  • Spine-tingling and moving...using nothing more than majestic background music, Andreas' own magnificent voice and his dialogue from the show. Whoever made this deserves a medal...and so do you for sharing it with us.

As G'Kar, as Tomalak, as any one of a hundred characters he played -- and as the wonderful real person he was in his off-camera appearances, one of which I was privileged to attend -- Andreas will always be with us...in recordings and in our hearts.

  • Brought tears to my eyes.

  • Thank you Andreas for the great moments. Hope to see you in the next Dimension.

  • Farewell my friend. I am sure we'll meet again beyond the rim for me to thank you properlly for some wonderfull momments you gave me. Thank you.

  • Babylon 5 lost 2 great characters in it's history. We cherish them by watching the DVD's and the movies to see them and how special they are to us. Farewell my friends your memory will always bring a light to the darkness.

  • Il a fallu cette vidéo pour apprendre la mort de cet acteur de ma série favorite.... cette vidéo est un bel hommage. MERCI

  • Oh, gods! I didn't know that he had died... G'kar was always my favourite character, right from Day One, and Andreas played him to perfection. Together they represented the best of us.

    Oh, gods, I'm going to miss him! ;_;

  • G'Kar was a great character and Mr. Katsulas did a fantastic job, portraying him!!!! You did a good job honoring him!

  • As long as we are here, he will always be here.

  • An amazing talent. RIP Mr. Katsulas.

  • a beautiful tribute to a excellent actor.

  • Good job.

    Slovakian fan

  • Thank you Andreas for the memories. A truly outstanding actor.

Thank you for this tribute too.

    G'Kar will live on forever.

  • This was great! Thank you.

  • A brilliant tribute to a brilliant man.

Godspeed Andreas, and rest assured that your voice will linger for as long as this place remains.

  • His presence on babylon 5 and in this world enriched us all and we are all diminished by his loss.

    Rip Andreas

  • Thank you for the tribute.
