Such a simple song, yet so full of atmosphere and feeling! One of Fats' greatest! Don't let anyone kid you - there was PLENTY of great music before the Beatles.
On December 24 at 8:00 in the morning, a young 14 year old boy by the name of Scott Johnson was found dead. Doctors couldn't come up with the cause of his death. His mother checked his emails to see if she could figure out what happened. Turns out he was still signed into myspace. She found he had gone to sleep after he read and didn't repost a chain letter. If you don't repost this to six videos a girl with no face will kill you tonight. Sorry don't want to die...
Cant beat Fats Donino music....I love his music and my teenage years of the 50's. Have danced so many times to his music....and I still dance at 75.......LaVista
Fats is very underrated. I've never been to New Orleans. I've been to NYC many times. Love it there. Been to Memphis once. The music on Beale street was like heavan to my ears. New Orleans is still one city I still want to visit. I love the food the music and the culture.
@anchovysardine Duke Ellington started every morning with chocolate cake and ice cream, and he lived to be 82. Long life is mainly between the ears. :)
I just love Fats Domino and how typical to learn that he was such a great guy to meet -re mikeb439! He gave us so many great tracks but don't forget about the other great guy - I am talking about Brook Benton. He too made a fab recording of this one.
There was a disc jockey in Miami called Butterball. When this song first came out he said, "I can't see Fats walking to the corner let alone to New Orleans". Good laugh. Brings back many pleasant memories

Thank you so much for posting this. A friend of mine and I were talking about the economic meltdown and how warnings came out, just like they were with the levees two years before Katrina hit. I put on this song just because it seemed to fit the situation, and we were both in tears, grown men, warm tears. What a lovely, lovely song, poignant but determined. I can think of nothing more heroic and decent.
God I miss my home. I live in Florida now but I miss New Orleans. I remember my Dad and I drove past Fats Domino's house one day and he was in the yard. We stopped and talked with him. One of the nicest gentleman you would ever want to meet. Thanks for the video.
Lol, not everyone gets to do what you do, I think I was lucky to be able to send him a letter, now I just have to wait around a month before he hopefully replies with a few kind words and his autograph. I can't wait!
