I'm 27 and to this day I sing the opening song from time to time! I used to check this out from the public library! My favorite of the animal songs was the iguana! " I wanna iguana, I wanna iguana who wants a small fry!" lol good times :)
oh, my God. I use to watch this like everyday as a toddler (my mom never let me watch it when I was sick cause i would try to move like each of the animals). But I remember trying to order it on amazon a couple years ago and it's was $120. glad to see it again.
I watched it since I was born, and now I'm 13. It's still my biggest fear for no reason. So, I'm trying to finish this and overcome my fear. I know, it's pathetic.
When I was little,I used to own the VHS of The Animal Alphabets song.I used to watched it everyday.Lol and looked at me now.I'm 26 ys old and here I am still watching it.It feels like I'm walkin through childhood memories. It does feel like it takes you back when you were little.Aw......memories.
I've been looking for this for my niece and nephew. I grew up on this. X, Ox spelled backwards. THANK YOU!!! I remember my kindergarten teacher being shocked when we got to the letter N and I shouted out newt. =) I'm here jamming in my office at the age of 28. lol.
Oh my gosh!! My mom and I have been looking for this for YEARS! I used to watch this over and over and over again as a kid, and I'm sitting here right now feeling like that kid again (at age 27). Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!!!
My cousins and I can (and frequently do) sing this entire thing word for word! Talk about childhood memories :) This 23-year-old is now on a quest for more youtube nostalgia
holy shit. im 23 years old and watched this when i was like 5. this is nuts... i never thought id find this video ever again, but then i googled it and here i am lmao!!! i love it.
This used to be my favorite song when I was... three? or four? I remember I used to heckle my parents to get the Video Cassette from the library everytime they would go out. I'm 18 now, and the word's are a little rusty to me, but I can still sing along lol.
A is for Alligator B is for Bear C is for Camel D is for Deer E is for Elephant F is for Fish G is for Giraffe H is for Horse I is for Iguana J is for Jaguar K is for Kangaroo L is for Lion M is for Monkey N is for Newt O is for Ostrich P is for Penguin Q is for Quail R is for Rhinoceros S is for Seal T is for Tiger U is for Unicorn V is for Vulture W is for Whale X is for Ox Y is for Yak Z is for Zebra
OMGOODNESS! This is the best video ever made for children. My daughter's will be turning 21 & 19 in January. This video was the coolest by far! We all still sing the whole thing through. We had it on a blue VHS tape. The girls wore it out! I ordered one from Suncoast a few years back but loaned it out & never got it back. I now have a 7 month old son & I am seeking another copy ASAP! Thanks for posting this :)

OMG!! I've been searching for this show for forever! I remember watching it so much when I was real little (it aired alongside Fraggle Rock), but it's been so long and been so hard to find info on it, I had begun to think I was the only one who remembered it. I KNEW that giraffe was in it! Why didn't I search "Geoffrey the Giraffe" sooner?
I'm 21, and I remember this from when I was little - and watched it again for the first time in like... ever... with as much enjoyment as when I was a little kid. :P Nostalgia kicks ass.
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!! i have been looking everywhere to find this! my sister and i wore my mom's copy out now we both have kids and wanted to pass it on to them. give your mom a big hug from all of us on the web...you 2 are godsends!
Yes!! The words just naturally come back to you after 18 years!! We would rent this on VHS at the library all the time when my now 18 year old was just a tot!!!
Oh my gosh!!!!! How much more fun can an alphabet get? I've been looking for this forever!!!!! I'm 27 and I saw this when I was 3. I had it on a tape along with Dot and the Whale and the very cartoony version of The Wizard of Oz
I'm sitting here laughing reading all the comments because I gotta say the same thing...this vid brings back soooooooooo many memories...I'm 31 and used to watch this when I was a little girl and haven't seen this in about 20 years and STILL remember every SINGLE word to the entire thing. My daughter (who is 7) thinks I'm nuts because of how I was just sitting here singing for a half hour straight like I'm her age...so much fun. Thank you for posting this!!!
omg i remember when i used to watch this all the time. my uncle had re-recorded it so that it played at least 8 times, so my mom wouldnt have to keep rewinding it since it was a VHS ;)
I would really love for someone to digitally remaster this video and put it on DVD so I can send a copy to my sons. They all loved this video and when I watch it I get real emotional. I miss my boys a lot, as they live hundreds of miles away, in different directions. Please, someone put this on DVD!!
I loved this flick since I was a kid, I still watch it to this day. :) At some point, my brother pestered me about watching this, "You should watch the Nature Channel or read the encyclopedia, 'cause you'll learn something!" Ugh, but this has animals with fun songs while the Nature Channel has a boring guy narrating and is usually depressing. He's been bossy since day one. Anyways, thanks for putting this up.
I never noticed 'til recently, but a couple bears look like they have ear tags.
My brother and I use to watch this video everyday! I still remember every single song. I must find this video. I wish it was on DVD because I would love to show it to my 3 year old. I know she would love it as much as I did.
They should've had: D for Dolphin, F for Flamingo, H for Hippopotamus, K for Koala, N for Narwhal, Q for Quetzal, U for Uriel, W for Walrus, and X for X-ray fish.
This looks so appealing to National Geographic fans, and I would MUCH rather watch this than South Park any day. I happen to have such perfect pitch that I usually know what key a song is in when I hear it; it might sound weird but the elephant song is in G major and the giraffe song in E.
Hey, all my kids use to watch this, including the ones I babysat for. I would love for my grandchildren to see it. Any chance on getting a copy of your tape?
Hey! I remember this! I think this is what got me interested in animals since a kid because...just look at it. They actually have great animal footage!
This was one of my FAVORITE videos as a kid, and I'm so stoked to have it on Youtube! Elizabeth Swados, a Broadway singer, gives the songs an authentic sound unlike some of the cheap music on today's kids' shows.
I STILL have this on VHS, and I did use it for my babysitting, over 20 years ago! I'm glad to be able to have it here too, since VHS doesn't last forever!!! I will have to learn how to put it on a DVD.
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS VIDEO!!! I had this on VHS and...sigh. Anyway, finding it makes me happy and want to share it with the children I babysit...they need something more positive view anyway!
