I always thought it was 1907, but I think that must have been 'enigma variations' Thank you for putting me right in such a gracious manner, not usual on Youtube. yes indeed it is a lovely piece of music, my background is military and I remember well while our band played this on parades at our barracks in Germany, the Germans 'old and young' always stopped at the camp railings and listened to the very end.
this is another typical reflection of how the British murdered their own kinsmen, and gave orders of ethnic cleansing much like the current leaders.. then attempted to make a scape goat down the ranks to avoid prosecution. The zulu's , ww1 with the turks.. where they sent thousands of Australian soldiers to certain death and in ww2 all for British pride and ego's .. how histories lessons are never remembered.
@PetroDola Sad of course that Australia and new Zealand lost so many men on Galipoli. But I have to tell you that the British casualties on the same strip of land was 31.000 men, the French 33.000 against a very much lesser but equaly tragic Ansac loss. Please don't knock UK, we lost nearly a million men in that war.
@overopensights hang on you just said lesser ANZAC loss you are of course aware that whilst you lost more men we lost over 60,000 men now for a country with a population of less than 2 million at the time that was a huge total especially since every single one of those men unlike other allied nations were not conscripted, every soldier who served was a volunteer.
@irishgodfatherchris Yes I do know that Chris; however I spent some time with the 3rd Australian Inf bn on attachment. I mentioned on one Anzac day, that Our losses were also great in comparison. I was politely told, "Yeah but we don't care about those." I don't knock the Aussie or NZ soldiers, I have so very much time for them all, and for the very unselfish way they have thrown all their weight behind our previous struggles. Both them and the Canadians are most uncomparable as allies.

Ugly but indispensable facts we must act on to survive:
1) War is an atrocity inducing situation -- no exceptions.
2) Territorial Forces were the cannon foder of the UK.
3) The rest of NATO is the cannon foder of Obama & the PMs of the UK & France.
4) The cause of atrocities are the rotten barrels AKA "wars" built and expanded by superpowers NOT a "few" rotten apples [troops].
5) US = past super powers.
6) Is gambling human survival for empire expansion sane?

Wiki says it was first played in October 1901. Morant and Handcock were executed in February 1902, so it's possible that it would have been played.
It's a brilliant tune isn't it?
