@toxicweirdo First of all, you're the retarded here. Second, you said "just return the monitor", and that's not right, a flickering monitor doesn't mean a monitor malfunction. Third, the majority of people have no idea about how to open a tower and take out hardware, so they would have to return the tower. Fourth, shut the fuck up and get lost, you ignorant freak.
@ccchackalll First of all, you're the retarded here? Second, a flickering monitor DOES mean a monitor malfunction, are you that dense? "Something is wrong with my monitor, oh well, probably not a malfunction!" Third, the majority of people can consult a friend or family, or pay a lower fee to have a technician come to their house and replace the part rather then have the whole machine replaced. Fourth, that's not a reason, did you run out of things to say?
@toxicweirdo You know you were wrong, you know you are wrong now too, and you know you're retarded. End of the story, I'm not going to argue with a wall :-)
@MrDarcyzPP I see that you're a bit retarded too, don't worry, I'll explain: "I'm not going to argue with a wall", in some cases mean "I'm not going to argue with a wall again" :-)

So whats the mac guy equivelent of this? Having a seizure? PC guy would probably just laugh and then go pickup a latte. Then go back to kicking ass and being able to run millions of applications.
The iMacs ATI video card is literally cooking inside a poorly ventilated case and screen flicker is the result. ATI video cards notoriously run hot even in a well ventilated case. To say ATI's need extra ventilation is an understatement.
Per Apple policy, you can return their products back for a full refund within 2 weeks from the purchase date if it's been open and has a defect. If no defect, then there's like a 10 or 15% "restocking" fee if its been opened.
If you bought one from a store, return it to the store. Plug it in and show the associate the issue, they'll let u return it.
All companies have product lines that have some sort of defect, the thing is its just a lot more noticeable in Macs because their whole range only consists of like 7 computers.
Make one mistake in the design, and a large percentage of your sales are of problematic units.
I still want a Macbook, my HP laptop is SHIT at recording sound and cost me $900, I used a Mac once and its much better, GarageBand and Logik are so worth it.
mine does it too, and I've had it for only a few days. Apple on the phone will not admit this is a problem for many people and act like they heard this for the first time.
Pisses me off, just have the whole thing set up and tweaked for my use, and now it has to go back. What a hassle!
Obviously the OP is a professional film developer. I mean, he owns a mac, right?
I can't wait for him to import this video into his other, working $6,000 iMac, so he can professionally export one clip as a movie file. You totally need the same tools that professional film designers need for that, right?
Seems Apple is another Coorparation ready to sell you dodgey goods.
Their ment tobe the Bang-Olefsen of the PC world.
But with B-O any problems are delt with swiftly.
My Iphone! what a load of toss. £300+ for a phone you cant send apps to other phones, as screen issues, cant run with it. They did try to bill me £180 for a new screen on it. But I said nochance. Youtube-internet is full of these and you still want us to pay.
You pay £200 on a cheap build. Any problems your vendor-designer will replace (repair) within a matter of days. And respond tto people. Rather than ignore hope it still sells.
With this after sales care how come aplle is still a big competitor.
Is it just me or does EVERY product that Apple has released in the last 3 years have some manufacturing fault like this? And they never even acknowledge it.
Seems like OSX86 is the only way to have a stable mac these days.
That's not a defect but a "feature".

With PCs, you could just return the monitor.
iMacs are stupid.

@toxicweirdo No, with PC it could be also a graphic card problem and you would have to return the tower.

DAMN YOU ALL. Apple often ecounters problems with their early release of new macs.
I own 7 macs, I know the drill.
BUT, luckly, Apple is not a stupid company, and cares about their customers.
Whenever you encounter this kind of issues, they quickly retrieve the fault machine, and give you back a new one for free.
Even if that machine costs more then thousand euros.
Apple is not perfection, but it's closing in.

That's... new.
I've never seen a screen have that problem... although back in the 90's some CRTs did that when they were about to fail altogether.
