@TheSpacemen10 You train the dog what to do in a real life situation by using a safe situation - it's the same as police and firefighters and soldiers who go through training exercises so they know what to do and don't get scared when things really happen. It's good to make the dog feel brave. A scared dog isn't going to respond to owner commands, it's just going to keep attacking.

People in the ring must manipulate with them so they never bite person. Those atacks of ´´pitbull´´ was mixes not pure dog. If you want protection dog you should chose dob or rott not bull type dog. They can be trainet to atack but it will never be like with man stoppers. bull terrs simply dont have it in them and never defend like man stoppers dose.

I have a police-trained Dutch Shepherd. I am a female with disabilities. Daisy goes everywhere with me, never leaves my side. No leash required. Whoever owns these dogs need be trained. The Master must be able to care for these intelligent dogs appropriately. It's every bit worth the time, money and effort. Well, Dutch Shepherds have a greater intellect than Malinoise tho they are related.

Yeah my family used to breed and train Rotts when I was a kid. They are sweeties. Bad people give dogs bad reps but with good owners people are shocked that a breed that has a bad rep can actually be so sweet. I like to think the dog reflects the owner... And it's sad when you hear of an animal that ended up attacking someone and doing big damage when the owner knew the pet was violent or didn't bother training the pet. Dogs are loyal, and I think they are the best for protection.

I know they can't "lock lock" their jaws what they do is hold onto their whatever they are attacking and will refuse to let go, unless trained properly. I don't know why people say how horrible of pets pit bulls are; mine was names Savage and he was a big baby. Kids would even play with him and he would never lift his lip.

For a meal or for survival. In actuality both are great dogs, I took both of my dogs out for a walk one night and a man was following me they both stopped and went off like crazy! The guy ended up crossing the street and running off. I don't know what would have happened to me if my boys were there.

All dogs are smart, they need training and discipline. Pit bulls lock their jaws and will not let go no matter what, also they can have raging tempers in the hands of a bad owner. I have owned both a pit bull and a German shepherd. Both are great dogs, German shepherds have better noses for smelling out bombs and are working dogs. Pits are more for outdoor and guard dogs, I've taken mine hunting, unfortunately they are known for fighting because some moron will adopt a pup and train it to fight

I just want to mention 'Pit Bulls' can not lock their jaws. That is in fact a myth. They are just a very loyal determined breed and will do their best to hold on to please their owner. My girls prove this. One girl is trained to hold on and not let go, her sister is not trained to hold at all. The one trained to hold will NOT let go, the one that isn't trained can't keep a grip on anything. Not even a rope toy!

The thing I love the most about the GSD, and is mostly likely the reason Police use them more than any other breed is the versatility, they can be used for just about anything. I don't know about the general breed of Pitbulls, but as a whole GSD's in general are sooooo versatile. They have proven themselves. A well bred and trained GSD, i believe is the best there is.
