Thats the point tonytiff yes we pay them , and my argument would be, yes some stop and searches are under certain circumstances needed to help to protect everybody BUT a section 60 is a spot check and is not used as a blanket search which this was clearly being done. And it has nothing to do with (if you have nothing to hide) they have to have reasonable suspision to carry out a section 60. So to keep people waiting for up to 4 hrs means they reasonably suspected Everybody ????

Police are especially instructed to target teenagers, keep order if people are drinking alcohol in public areas, also they watch for those using drugs, any vandalism by accident or deliberate etc etc. Police have to act responsibly, and ensure others act responsibily too. I see. Well, they both seem to be suitably descriptive phrases for the scene and attitudes displayed. A childish mind would have rather taken the scene at face value and wrongly believed it was actually a bunch of people whose only concern was the environment.
Unfortunately the police, like most of us, are not blessed with psychic powers. Nor does anybody appear to have the words "I am peaceful" indelibly tattooed on their foreheads. Ergo, the police are simply doing their job.

They do quick check on way in sometimes which basically consists off a pat of your trouser pocket and let though! It's normal security, not police! Saying things like "no gas bottles" (in case of fire etc).
At V festival there is NO stop checks at all inside, you can take drugs freely and do as you please! You see the odd few walkin in a line, not saying a word to anyone and getting jeered all the way through! They would get knocked out if they worked them self! Outnumbered 1000's to one!

Police are there for order & control, it's there job to maintain it, people don't care if they have to make a report to police, it's the law in the country, trees also come under British law, the focus is the protest, it's just not liked if many in number turn up for a protest, disorder can ensue in large numbers & it's a matter of course for the police to be there, it still does not disregard the fact, the personality types youcome across in the police force, most are Ok coppers.

The police are instructed by law to be a presence at all protests of large number. Yes, sometimes the police antagonise, but also police get antagonised by protesters sometimes. Police are especially instructed to target teenagers, keep order if people are drinking alcohol in public areas, also they watch for those using drugs, any vandalism by accident or deliberate etc etc. Police have to act responsibly, and ensure others act responsibily too. The fact is this is the Law, not opinions.

Your the one who said there isn't any need for the police to be at protests, but that's your opinion and the Law does not revolve around your opinion. All Law's are based on religion & some are leaking through from Human Rights, it's all political eventually in that matter.

What worries me is that the anti-war march was the biggest protest in UK history and was, effectively, ignored by the oligarchs in power at the time.
