Keep seeing people go on about how Osku got lucky with carry. Ryan has had that luck before, anyone remember back to the U.S Open in 2011 when he beat Bill O'Neill and only touched the pocket like, 4 times?
I think Schafer outbowled Palermaa, but that's how it goes sometimes. If he'd bowled even better than he did, maybe he'd have won. Or maybe if Palermaa had to pay for even one of his terrible shots on the left lane it would have gone differently. But there you are.
@hisbassness Really? I didnt see a terrible shot by Osku I only saw 10 pins and a 7-10 which is something you dont see very often from him. He absolutely deserves the title. I hoped Shafer to win too but Osku is just so much better in every possible way...
@rado088 On the left lane his first two strikes were trip 2-8 and trip 4-7-10 (which was completely through the face), and then the shot after that on the left he went way high but only left a four pin. I think since his ball was basically dictating the breakdown of the oil those were significantly worse shots than Schafer was making. I meant terrible in a less literal way (it's a destroyed PBA pattern, after all). But if they both had equally powerful carry, I think Schafer wins this one.
Not to dis Ryan, he is a great guy and one hell of a bowler but wasn't the shot that got Ryan into this match a lucky break? Also I do believe that a pocket 7-10 is considered quite poor luck? Just something to think about. I have to admit I was sad Belmo didn't get this far but Osku is one hell of a bowler just like Ryan and they both deserved to win it is just Osku got it done. I hope and pray Ryan will get his major but right now it is Osku's turn to be in the spot light. Well done to both!
If Ryan Schafer wasn't second in all his majors he would have 5 majors. Think about that he would have 9 titles and over half are majors. One of the nicest guys out on tour and if he had all those titles he would be in the hall of fame for sure

Shafer should have won that match. He was the better bowler. Palemaa got a lot of lucky breaks. I'm pulling for Shafer to get his major!
