  • @Basumi1 what a stupid comment. it doesn't matter what color you are you are unique and you. it has nothing to do with whether you're black, white, Asian, etc.

  • @gerryg1982: Can we stop with this How-To-Rap book spam shit PLEASE! Brothers like Kane, Rakim, GZA, Nas, etc, didn't thumb through How-To books - instead, they kept their ear to the street, their minds to the grind, and had aspiration and inspiration via organic influences. In ten years time, or sooner, I bet my right nut that there will be no MC of Rakim's or Kane's calibre who will attribute their skills to a spammed book advertised on Youtube!!!!

  • luv kane

  • 80s great

  • The guy in the back acts really cool !

  • Decent list guys. But u can't have a list without gang starr.

  • @themexican117 Or Nasir Jones.

  • I love how he doesn't even swear! That's how you can judge a real boss

  • Irish123100, I agree that lil wayne has very little talent and I too don't respect him, but equally, I think Eminem is overrated. Kool G Rap...nice! I forgot about him...for sure, he would be in my top 10

  • so he is sick but the best rapper is jay-z

  • @CDF1323 Haha

  • @WI800 exactly jay-z cant even hold a candle to rakim KRS-one even NAs.. 2pac and biggie are obvious

  • @bulletshotfromgun i fucks with all the rappers u name especially nas hes my fav mc, but oldschool jay z was too ill listen to tracks lyke i cant get with that

  • yes, you are right. I totally forgot about them..

  • best rapper of all times

  • @waittilnightfall what about kool moe dee and 2 pac??

  • @waittilnightfall If you put Lil wayne ahead of Eminem, your retarted. He has gotten respect from KRSONE TO NAS......NOBODY respects Lil wayne.

  • @waittilnightfall and your list is a lil off.....1a Rakim 1b Biggie 2 Nas 3 Kool G Rap......then you can start.

  • BDK IS A BEAST *

  • THIS is a REAL FREESTYLE people, gucci mane, drake, lil wayne..take notes

  • i think Big Daddy Kane's lyrics are a bit better then Rakim's lyrics are but Rakim is the overall better rapper imo because of his swag and how he puts his rhymes together.

  • ya'll know the rest

  • No disrespect to BDK cuz he is a legend and pioneer, but he did NOT freestyle. He only wrote his rhymes. A real hip hop head knows off the top vs. written anyway.

  • @spiderman5876 Everybody did then ...... the definition of freestyle changed in the platinum era.

  • guaranteed to come off hard cuz i said it will

  • thatz wat u kall rapping

  • My dude's cut in the back was PHRESH!

  • @Basumi1 y>> u still would never flow like kane..

  • @Basumi1 trust me im black and i still cant do that shit

  • @Basumi1 haha ive had the same thought. the culture is pretty awesome and the music is way better. but i think we were all born how we're suppossed to be and it makes us all unique

  • listen to big daddy kane - flame on

  • ya kno the rest.. !! 8-)

  • Comment removed

  • I agree with damndisplace07, hip hop was a lifestyle and even today I remember some of the lyrics from my favorites like Big Daddy Kane. Well most of the time I was just looking at him. He was so sexy.

  • they had-Kane drop

    knowledge in HOW- T0 -RAP

    which is that

    book's name they did wit

all the top emcees to try and

    save the art-form of

emceeing for newer heads.... ill boook

  • @gerryg1982 everyone says that book is so dope so i picked it up it really doesn't "drop any real knowledge" if you can't figure out what they go over on your own you probably shouldn't be writing the first place not to say i didn't enjoy reading it just cuz i love rappers mentalities i think it would be more useful to someone who doesn't like rap cuz it sorta explains why some of its so negative it a good way

  • @TheeOriginalG That's where it comes from. Hip-hop is simple, it's about existence and survival. If there is a depth explanation, it would have been mapped out. An mc vs. a rapper. Emcees rap about life, rappers rap about having a life. What's happening in this video is why the book is good.

  • dis is live

  • lyrics are bittin, you should be quittin, you all be gettin.....nun of me cuz its fun to be the b.i.g d.a.d.d.y k.a.n.e

  • he said his lyrics are bitten..haha..ha..ha

  • @yuhnasty24 meaning that other people bite him. genius lol

  • Dam Kane is a dictionaty

  • its sick to know that some the kings of hiphop are still out there, they never left people ! Mainstream artists just caught on to the idea and ruined it ! As long as people still love REAL hiphop, they'l still be kickin it ! it started underground, it'l stay underground. SAVE VINYL

  • @LyricalQuest Hell yeah! let 'em know, hip hop ain't dead. There's alotta raw talent to be found, just gotta know where to look. From Army of the Pharaohs to the Demigodz and all the individual MC's within those groups. And also: R.A. the Rugged Man, Diabolic, Ill Bill, Cannibal Ox, El-P, Tonedeff and so on....

  • @HeadHipHop May God forgive you for that blasphemy

  • You know................................when you see shit like this, it makes you feel sorry for the kids today. Hip hop used to be like a breath of fresh air. It wasn't just something you hear on the radio. It was a lifestyle. As a kid you would run home to listen to the new shit on the radio because of how ill the lyrics were. It aint like that no more.

  • @damndisplace07 Damn I wanna live in the 90's...

  • its fun to see how every people used to have high tops lol

  • He looks like Krayzie Bone

  • this remind me of Play from Kid and Play!

  • im actually related to this nigga nd i swear this shyt run in the family

  • @LyricalQuest Considering hip-hop started underground, can't really say it WENT underground.

  • Sean Hannity was right! Kane does release lyrics that are smooth and incredible.

  • to be or not to be

  • @Boogonomotry while I take tokes of the marijuana smokes

  • WHAT HAPPENED?!

  • LEGENDARY !... yall know da rest !

  • look at all the high top fades in the back loool

    i miss the old'n days

  • five people were high and hit the wrong button..the K the A the NE..TITAN !!!

  • fucker i know the rest

  • Sounds like both Kid N Play

  • He's wearing a Houston hat! :D

  • To think that this caliber of spitting was common those days..

  • @xaultimateax Nah not quite. Kane was in the upper echelon even in the mid '80s. Sure there were many rappers that had a similar style, but the voice, rhymes and flow is what set people like Kane, Rakim, Lyte, and even LL apart from the rest.

  • i miss these days...when rap used to require talent......most rappers these days aint talkin' bout a damn thing...i miss the days when rap had substance...the only one i really vibe to now is eminem...that's my dude......

  • its aight its aight.

  • Baddest MC's to Touch the Mic:

    1. Rakim

    2. BDK

    3. KRS-one

    4. Big L

    5. Biggie

  • @Boogonomotry Fuck that. New rappers need to stop calling themselves rappers. Rap is Dead. This is an old Civilization. Nothing can ever touch the 70's - 90's Era.

  • @StatCitez why do you say it like 'new rappers' have never listened to stuff from the 'old civilization'. MCs always know about that music, big daddy kane is beyond influential along with the scores of other artists that were makin music in the 80s 90s and watever, and artists NEVER forget who came before em. Its not like once 2000 came along all the guys who were makin this music fell off the face of the earth or sumthin. you cant kill hiphop, it just grows and changes. hiphop 76-FOREVER

  • @IMaWondERFULPerSON It died. Type in Rap in the Search Bar Up There, And tell me if thats rap. Everything has a beginning and end. After the climax of music, the only thing left is to go downward.

  • @StatCitez I'll just agree to strongly disagree with you

  • @IMaWondERFULPerSON So you think that rappers today match the ones of the 80's or the 90's?Big L, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, Nas, Tupac, Biggie Smalls, krs1, wu tang clan, and ice cube were and still are Hip Hop. Their music had feeling, It related to our problems and made us feel together. Nothing can touch that. Soulja Boy, Lil Wayne, Drake, J Cole, Wiz Khalifa,Rick Ross,Bun B,Jay Electronica,Gucci Mane, Waka Flaka and all these other rappers are talkin about sellin drugs and fuckin up their mind

  • @StatCitez never really wondered how they stack up against each other, i can tell you that you can think whatever you want and the same for me and no one will be right or wrong. it's not about who's better, it's about finding what you enjoy and understanding that the guys that are comin up today listen to same stuff you enjoy, so why just automatically think it's gonna suck? doesn't sound like fun to me

  • @IMaWondERFULPerSON All i know is back then when kool dj herc started rap,it was about having fun, and showing flow skills. The songs now generate violence and misuse of drugs, which leads to violence and misuse of drugs in the real world.Music is such an influencial tool that it can change your train of thought with ease.Look at the name hip hop alone.Hip And Hop Are words that represent dancing, movin, and dropping a dense beat.Does Puttin the ak-47 to your brain sound like hip hop?

  • @StatCitez dj kool herc was a dj not an mc for one, and drugs and violence has been a part of hip hop from almost the beginning. listening to music that involves those subjects NEVER makes someone just go and do the same thing, they have to make the conscious decision to do something like that, it will never be the musics fault. hip hop will always have subjects like that in songs to help people understand to never get involved in that shit. sound like my dad thinkin it makes people do bad shit

  • @IMaWondERFULPerSON He doesnt have to be an MC to create Hip Hop. MC's are faces of Hip Hop. And no it never was about the drugs for one. You must be very young because you dont understand rap at all. I bet youre not even black or spanish. Youre some white kid who picked up the ipod and thinks he's a Rap Enciclopedia. Music is what influenced my friends to start smoking and Drinking. Even now. Lil wayne wears skinny Jeans and now every guy in New York Down to Florida has a pair on.Its how it is

  • @IMaWondERFULPerSON Back then you White people tried to stop the Hip Hop music. You dont know anything about Rap, except for what you see on TV. Im from New York. And Remember the Day when Hip Hop was Forming. You have not the slightest clue what youre talking about. And just to let you know DJ's were the ones who rapped back in the days. And there was a dance to Hip Hop Music. So stop Messaging me until you read a little bit more on Hip Hop.

  • @StatCitez so now youre just sayin im a fool. didn't know i didn't know what i was talking about, but now i see the light, thanks a lot man. dood ive been listenin to hip hop since i was 9, im not calling myself some expert but i certainly feel comfortable sayin i know what im talkin about. why do you always have to revert to attackin my intelligence or say that i was responsible for trying to stop the formation of hip hop? this isnt a disscussion, so yes i would like to stop talkin to you.

  • @IMaWondERFULPerSON hip hop wasnt about drugs.... hip hop was a movement and an uprising... they rapped about life around them.. dreams of being rich .. just good stuff .. its nothing like today

  • @kidyb23 when I said drugs i meant it was a theme of the music, also I did not mean it to be some umbrella term. I don't need a lesson in hip hop and i'll spare you one as well, so please leave me alone.

  • @IMaWondERFULPerSON exactly!! it had nothing to do with drugs... just shutup...

  • @StatCitez Im white and here's what I know. Hip hop was created in a basement party by DJ Kool Herc. Just scratching the record at the break beat to keep people dancing to it. Next thing you know it took on a life of it's own and others started doin it. Some other Djs became popular and theyd have battles. Next thing you know MCing came along as people started to throw in their own lyrics to the beats. Boom. Hip Hop. And it was never about drugs or violence.Just makin people dance to a new music

  • @StatCitez Street knowledge, metaphors, social message, and portraying yourself as better than the other MCs around was what lyrics/songs consisted of. In a positive manner of course. Big Daddy Kane took it to another level with his bragadocious swag. It wasnt really about drugs or violence until the West Coast joined the game with Ice T and N.W.A. aka Gangster Rap. Now you had all kinds of MCs with different styles from Rakim to Ice Cube and everything in between.

  • @tjcurrie well said my man.

  • @CBarbosa23 Thanks bro

  • @StatCitez The music eventually garnered more attention. More and more it was being played on the radio. Then all kinds of "MCs" started to creep from the woodwork trying to get a piece of the pie. " I can be this. I can be that." Unfortunately, it's all radio now and Hip Hop evolved into something it was never really meant to be. It's kind of a catch 22. The fame and money came, but the fame and money has also ruined it. For most of us anyways. It just aint the same anymore. Sad.

  • @tjcurrie Yea. Really when you think about it, we have all these "indie" kids walking around, and of course the theory is that "indie" music is original, and non mainstream. But its the most mainstream music out there.

Classic rap, and some of the more fresh rap music is the most indie kind of music you can listen to. Its not like its some overly simple indie song about a girl who likes a boy. Rap music; theres layers, substance, I still listen to songs from ghostface and find new things.

  • @tonyisserious I like to compare it to real life cowboys vs some guy who throws a cowboy hat and skin tight jeans on, sings a country song and calls himself a cowboy. The legitimacy and realness is missing.

  • anyone know the year this was filmed?

  • so many flat tops back in those days

  • big daddy the best

  • his voice kinda sounds weird

  • @AsianBoiee your voice sounds weird

  • I saw Big Daddy Kane in concert last week. I spoke to him for a hot minute and shook his hand afterwards. It was a great experience.

  • I DONT EVEN THINK TODAYS COUNTRY BUMPKIN YAPPERS CAN EVEN RHYME! THEY JUST TALKIN OVER AN 808 BEAT! THEY SHIT DOSENT EVEN FLOW! ALL I HEAR A BUNCH OF FUCK U'S ! AND MUTHAFUCKA IAM RICH ON 22'S!! ALL FUCKIN DAY!! Iam too old for that crap! I rather listen to Lloyd Price or the Temptations now! Rap music too menstral now! i had enough of the porch monkey jigaboo videos with the big butt slave hooker theme!! no style no concept!

  • @ozulu45 I see you have a love for Hip hop,,,check out Lupe Fiasco...he's my favorite a very intellectual MC listen to some of his freestyles or one of my favorite songs by him called The Cool...you'll become a believer trust me

  • #Classicflow.

  • damn...that is all

  • damm I woulda loved to see kane and biggie freestyle battle

  • @kingman4889 They did freestyle. Madison Square Garden, about '93. It was Pac, Biggie, Big Daddy , a couple of other guys and a kid.

  • kanes style was one of the bridges into what we know as hip hop now.hes one of those artist that shifted the way everybody wrote a performed their lirics...RAKIM is another example.he's also one of the first rapp artist to fine tune his image and create songs to gain wider appeal(female listeners)...that made him one of the best selling artist at that time.he help teach rappers to be popular artist and not just rappers...LL is another example.LL(#1) RAKIM & KANE all very high in my top 20

  • Why yes! We do know the rest.

Today's artists use 'that' word more than syllables in their music.

  • lol i want to know why the 4 people dislike this 4. not enough wayne here 4 them

  • Fuck that was AMAZING. This guy clearly is the king of freestylin. :D

  • RAW!!...love the hat!!! H-Town!!

  • I Remember A Few Years Ago When Everybody Was Talking Shit About Rappers Dancing LOL

I Used To Shut Alot Of People Up Just By Mentioning Big Daddy Kane And Kid N Play, No Rappers In History Danced Like Them.

They Carved It In Stone, Dancing Is Apart Of Hip Hop Also.

  • cos i'm a bad mother.. yall know the rest :) yes love it how rappers keep it PG rated

  • his flows like rakims

  • dame we needd rappers like dis

  • I know plenty of you out there have seen todays shit rappers in front of a camera trying to freestyle, get hic-cupped and laugh there way out of it.. frickn toys!

  • nigga sounds just like moe dee lol

  • Very few people could ever really freestyle. Most ppl came into a battle wit a verse or two at the ready. I was lookin at my books of rhymes the other day and my x-wife LAUGHED me out......Kane killed this verse anyways.

  • @jronimo1933 "Very few people could ever really freestyle. Most ppl came into a battle wit a verse or two at the ready."

Hate to bust your bubble playa but what do you think BDK is doing in this video...hes spitting a verse thats "at ready" like you say....and yea its still a freestyle this same nigga explains it...jus look it up BDK explains a freestyle...

  • @cKooLaiD311 I know. That's why I made the comment.

  • @jronimo1933 oh my bad

  • Yeah not a freestyle but... geez.

  • @Johawesomenny ummm this is considered a freestyle kane is one of the men who explained that freestyles can be pre written its here on youtube...matter fact it should be in the related videos....

  • @cKooLaiD311 Geez calm the hell down. I've seen the video. You should really look into stress counseling cause you're probably going to get a heart attack soon. Anyways, I was mistaken, some of these lines are similar to Ain't No Half Steppin and I was confused for a second, this one is a freestyle. Anyways yeah Koolaid, chill bro.

  • @Johawesomenny haha what do you mean calm down my comment was all normal and not agressive at all.

  • Not a freestyle but still can't fuck with that

  • @freshprinceofbalham Yeh it is. he wrote it free of style..

  • mad 90s in the background

  • Big Daddy Kane always had the bangin tracks

  • BIG DADDY KANE IS BACK!!! .....SEARCH BRIGHT LIGHTS BIG DADDY KANE

  • I stop hearin his shit wen he appear in the movie metor man..Haha!!!

  • kane, g rap and rakim are all legends but i really can't say who is better out of all them cuz they're all so amazing and they all have different styles, but does it really matter who is better anyway? I love this freestyle.

  • kids nowadays need to watch this and learn...

  • yall know the rest... good ending

  • cause im a bad mother you all know the rest big daddy kane is one of the best

  • god that 80s flow was so incredible i can see why he and rakim ran the 80s...AND ALSO THIS IS REAL FREESTYLING...OFF THE DOME WASNT EVEN ESTABLISHED AT THIS TIME PERIOD AS FREESTYLING...WRITTEN RHYMES WERE

  • @cKooLaiD311

freestyle was never = off the dome or written...

Its basically any rhyming as long as it doesn't have any style in it. Take the caps off as well, makes you sound like a retard.

  • @romainelettuce2 who you tellin...big daddy kane explained himself that a freestyle is a written rhyme wit no style...it doent even mean off the dome...DO YA RESEARCH

  • @cKooLaiD311

-sighs- Retard, he never said that it had to be a written rhyme. It only needed to be something you havent previously rehearsed.

Stupid kid, get your shit straight..

  • @romainelettuce2 Retard?? How do you figure that?? His exact words..." a freestyle is a rhyme that you wrote"...so how am i retarded?? if thats not what he said maybe im hard hearing...im hardly a kid homie so please stall me out with your youtube talk...my shit is very straight if you ask me...i dont know where your getting information from but all you have to do is look under my favs i have the video of him explaining it...

Get yo knowledge up before you tell someone else to...

  • @cKooLaiD311

Motherfucker, i know that a freestyle can be written. What you're saying is that it can only be written. And that's not true.

A freestyle is basically anything free of style/subject matter, so off the dome, written, memorised, or previously unrehearsed are all considered freestyling.

Are you going to think for yourself or just going to take everything word for word from kane?

People like you are the reason why our race is looked down at right now.

  • @romainelettuce2 bitch i never even said it HAS to be written..my initial comment indicated only that i was saying off the dome wasnt even called freestyling at that time...doesnt mean it isnt now...all those people who say it CANT be written too need to get they minds right cause if it was more of written rhymes at that time then why would it be the complete oppostie now...and first im a retard now im the reason are race gets looked down on...please homie your the one jus jumping to conclusons

  • @cKooLaiD311

"AND ALSO THIS IS REAL FREESTYLING"OFF THE DOME WASNT EVEN ESTABLISHED AT THIS TIME PERIOD AS FREESTYLING...WRITTEN RHYMES WERE"

    You're contradicting yourself...

You clearly stated that written rhyming is real freestyling. What you said about off the dome has nothing to do with that, its totally unrelated.

Who cares about people who say freestyling cant be written? Thats not the fucking point of what we're argueing, stop diverting attention. Retard.

  • @romainelettuce2 and you think your a real smart one dont you...i jus went to ur page and all your comments to some else is you calling someone a pussy or this and that...dude you obviouosly are the one who jus jumps to stupid conclusions because you think you jus know so much about whatever the video is...you dont shit and obviously you have a hard time comprehending things so do yourselfs and other youtubers a favor and jus delete you account you annoying excuse for a human being

  • @cKooLaiD311 Thanks for being yet another viewer of my comment page. Do you actually read the context for why i said that.. or do you just bitch about curse words? Cupcake, take that to a church, this is youtube, grow a pair.

  • @cKooLaiD311 You're a troll and this arguement isnt getting anywhere, blocked.

  • @romainelettuce2 pussy

  • @cKooLaiD311

Freestyles can be written, off the dome, memorised, previously rehearsed, without subject matter and lacking style. I could'nt give a fuck less about whether or not off the dome was popular back then. Thats 15+ years ago man. Get a fucking life and stop acting like a tough guy behind your computer screen

  • @romainelettuce2 thats not harldy contradicting...because if he explains that a freestyle is one thing and that off the dome wasnt even called freestyling then what i said isnt no where near contradicting...your jus tryna be a smart ass over the computer..and your the one responding with these MOTHERFUCKER and RETARD comments...i think we all know whos tryna act tough...and if ketchup is really called ketchup and later gets changed i would still say when i see that red stuff this is real ketchup

  • @cKooLaiD311

Calling you a retard isnt an attempt of anyone being hard. If i said that i could kick your ass.. then that is trying to be hard. So zip it koolaids.

Didn't you read my previous comment? I don't care what they referred to as freestyling in the past. Its all about the present, and its different now. Off the dome IS freestyling, its just that kane didnt consider it to be. So are you a kane yes-man, or can you think for yourself?

  • 3 soulja boy fans must have seen this video
